1 ACS Access Control System - Installation Guide The Remotelock ACS is a cloud based access management system that integrates external door controllers with internal stand-alone Wi-Fi locks for a complete internet connected access solution. With an easy to use and intuitive browser based interface, the system integrates open architecture hardware from best in class manufacturers like Elmdene, Mercury and HID. Important information ACS installation should only be carried out by a professional who understands access control systems. The ACS can only be commissioned and programmed from the smartconnect online portal. You WILL need an internet connection at the premises to complete the installation. Sign up here: The ACS requires 30V mains power and a wired connection to the router. The door hardware should include a key backup. Under no circumstances use cat5 type cable to the keypad and electric strike. You must use the correct gauge cable, see page for full information We recommend that you install a backup 1 volt battery. This can be located in the enclosure. Run the correct gauge cable from the keypad and electric strike/mag lock back to the ACS controller box. Observe the maximum length cable runs.. Install the ACS controller, keypad, lock etc. 3. Make sure that there is a key over-ride so that the door can be opened independently of the ACS. 4. Make sure that when the door is shut there is no excessive pressure on the strike, this can prevent it from functioning properly. 5. Power up the ACS and connect an ethernet cable from the router or patch panel. Connect a 1v backup battery. 6. Add the ACS to the smartconnect portal account. 7. Run auto detect and configure. INSTALLATION NOTES: If fitting a Standard or Narrow keypad, be sure to seal the mounting plate with black silicone to prevent light from entering the tamper sensor on the back side of the unit. Mid position 1. When the system is powered on the red LED highlighted in the red box should be flashing. 3. The Power Selection Jumper highlighted in blue should be set on the Right Side for 1VDC operation. If the Red LED does not come on check this jumper. 4. 6 Access Control System - Installation Guide smartconnect online portal account To test the ACS and create codes you will need an online account. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CREATE CODES ON THE KEYPAD Go to and create a smartconnect portal account. Then, contact SmartLock Europe who will manually add the ACS module. If you already have a Wi-Fi lock account, please contact us to perform the upgrade. There are three account types, the only difference is the number of permanent (access*)codes that you can have at any one time. Each account type includes an unlimited number of guest codes. You can choose to be billed in GBP or EUROS. Account Plan No of Access Users No of Guests Basic 0 unlimited Premium 150 unlimited Pro unlimited unlimited * An access user is a building owner, member of staff, cleaner, tradesman etc. Add ACS controller Once ACS has been enabled, follow the instructions below. Make sure that the ACS is powered up and has a live ethernet connection. 1. The Access Control System manager can be accessed by clicking the ACS icon in the lower left hand corner of the portal. Click on ADD CONTROLLER 3. Specify controller name, model number EP1501, serial number (printed on mercury board), and location. Click CREATE 4. The system will now try to validate the serial number and look for the controller. Click OK. 5. The config status bar will move slowly whilst the detection is in progress. 6. When the Config Status and the cloud turn green, this indicates that the ACS has detected successfully. If the cloud remains red, check the internet connection. 7. On the main menu, click on Devices, by default doors are supported. Click on Door 1 and then click on Settings Page 6

7 Access Control System - Installation Guide 8. The auto detect should of picked up the keypad/reader and elec strike/mag lock that are connected. Above shows that Door 1 is connected to Reader 1 and Output 1. Click in the name field to edit. If there is a Request to Exit button or other device, click on the + symbol, select the correct input and click Save You can also adjust the lock time in seconds. If the second door is not going to be used, we recommend you delete this. It can always be added later if required. This completes the standard ACS setup. 9. If you are using Remotelock Wi-Fi locks and want the same codes to open the ACS door, go to Devices - Common Door - Add Common Door. In the Common Door dropdown, choose the Door Common to: select Location Location: choose your Location Check Add common door access... Click CREATE Now when you create any code it will also be sent to Door 1. The ACS is permanently connected to the internet, so whenever new codes are created they are sent more or less immediately. When you create a User code and choose Door 1, refresh the browser, if the tick is green, this indicates that the code has been received by the ACS. A grey tick indicates that the code has not yet been received. If you are using Lockstate RFID cards, fobs or sticky tags, only enter the digits after the comma. Troubleshooting 1. If the cloud remains red then this indicates that there is a problem with the ethernet/internet connection. Unplug and check, when it turns green it means it has a connection.. If the cloud remains red, it may be necessary to re-program the DNS on the Mercury card. Please contact SmartLock Europe for detailed instructions. This has occurred when using Virgin Media as your ISP. 3. The keypad reader constantly flashes red. This is normal. 4. When a code is entered the door will not open. Check the event history in the portal and make sure the code has been entered correctly, eg 1345# Hold the door open, enter a valid code that has a green tick, with your finger, push the electric strike, if it moves then the ACS is functioning correctly. The door probably needs adjusting as excessive pressure is being applied to the strike. 5. If further issues occur, please check all wiring connections at the ACS and the keypad/lock. 6. The PSU is NOT SUITABLE for external installation. EQUIPMENT MUST BE EARTHED. Before installation, ensure that external disconnect device is OFF. The PSU should be installed via a 3A fused spur according to all relevant safety regulations applicable to the application. G1380xN-s (1A, 1.5A, A & 3A) G1380xN-s (4A & 5A) Mounting 1) Mount securely in correct orientation allowing minimum clearance see diagram. ) Route mains and low voltage output cables via different knockouts and/or cable entry holes. 3) Use bushes and cable glands rated to UL94 HB minimum. Mains Power Up 4) Attach correctly rated mains cable (minimum 0.5mm [3A], 300/500Vac) and fasten using cable ties. 5) Apply mains power. Check for 13.8Vdc on load outputs. Check green Mains LED is on. 6) Disconnect mains power. Load Output 7) Attach correctly rated load cable and fasten using cable ties. Note polarity. 8) Apply mains power. Check green Mains LED is on. 9) NOTE: Red LED may be illuminated (dependent upon model) to indicate that no battery has been connected. This is normal. 10) Verify load is operating correctly. 11) Disconnect mains power. Standby Battery NOTE: Ensure batteries being fitted to this unit are in good condition 1) Where not integral to PSU PCB, attach supplied battery cables to terminal block and battery. NOTE: ensure correct polarity of battery connections: +ve use red lead, -ve use black lead. 13) Apply mains power. Check green Mains LED is on. 14) Check there is no fault indication on Red LED (dependent on model). 15) Disconnect mains power. Check that the batteries continue to supply voltage and current to the load. The Green LED should be off. NOTE: Batteries must have sufficient charge to supply the load 16) Reconnect mains power. Green LED should be on. 17) Remove Load fuse and check red Fault LED is on (dependent on model). 18) Replace Load fuse. Check red Fault LED is off (dependent on model). Check that the tamper switch is: - closed when the lid is closed and the lid screw is fitted - open when the lid is open. 0) Close cover and secure using fastening screw(s) provided. The green Mains LED will be illuminated whilst the mains supply is present. In the event of a fault condition, the red Fault LED will be illuminated (dependent on model). MAINTENANCE There is no regular maintenance required of the PSU other than periodic testing and replacement of the standby battery. Reference should be made to the battery manufacturer s documentation to determine typical/expected battery life with a view to periodic replacement of the battery. If the output of the PSU fails the cause of the failure should be investigated e.g. short circuit load. The fault should be rectified before restoring power to the PSU. The fuses may need to be replaced. Ensure the correct fuse rating and type is used. CAUTION Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the battery manufacturer s instructions and all local and national regulations. The packaging supplied with this product may be recycled. 12 PSU Interface Relay - PSUIR-1 and PSUIR-4 Power Supplies - Ancillary Devices The PSU Interface Relay facilitates control of a PSU output by means of either Volt Free Contacts (normally open or normally closed) or a Low Voltage Signal, and is available in 1V & 4V versions. Typically used in Access Control applications to remove power from a lock when the Fire Alarm activates.
