1 Instruction Manual LM Series - v1 and v2 LM-060 LM-090 LM-120 Overview The LM series of LED aquarium lights feature sunrise, sunset and lunar cycle simulation. These features are pre-programmed via the onboard computer and only require the user to input the time and date on initial setup. The light will then automatically increase and decrease the white, actinic and moonlight LEDs, simulating the sunrise, sunset and moon process found in the natural environment. This simulation is controlled by a soft switching power circuit to ensure that high voltage spikes to the LEDs are eliminated, extending the life of the LEDs. The brightness (individual and overall) can also be operated manually via the included remote control or the control panel found on the light itself. The versatility of this light enables it to be used in all marine aquarium applications and is suitable for growing both hard and soft corals. Time and Date Function Once set, the time and date is use to operate the simulation program for both the sunrise/sunset and lunar cycle simulators. To set the time and date: 1. Press the S button (the first two digits should flash). 2. Using the T+ and T- buttons, select the current hour (24 hour time). 3. Once the hour has been selected press the E button (the next two digits should flash). 4. Using the T+ and T- buttons, select the current minutes. 5. Once the minutes have been selected press the E button (the screen should change and the first two digits should flash). 6. Using the T+ and T- buttons, select the current day. 7. Once the day has been selected press the E button (the next two digits should flash). 8. Using the T+ and T- buttons, select the current month. 9. Once the month has been selected press the E button (the screen should change and the all four digits should flash). 10. Using the T+ and T- buttons, select the current year. 11. Once the year has been selected press the E button. 12. You have completed the time and date setup.

3 2. Sunrise/Sunset Simulation All LM models feature a sunrise/sunset simulation. The simulation is automatically controlled via the onboard computer and is pre-programmed with a standard cycle. On v2 models, the cycle can be customised via the SD card slot and the configuration utility found on our website. Please refer to section 7 for further details. 3. Lunar Cycle Simulation All LM models also feature a sunrise/sunset simulation. As with the sunrise/sunset simulation, the lunar cycle simulation is automatically controlled via the onboard computer and is preprogrammed with a standard cycle. On v2 models, the cycle can be customised via the SD card slot and the configuration utility found on our website. Please refer to section 7 for further details. 4. Overall Brightness Control All LM models come set from the factory at the maximum brightness level which ranges from 1 to 5, with 5 being the brightest. If you are retrofitting the light to an existing reef tank (with corals) and the brightness is roughly the same (e.g. replacing metal halides with an LM series LED), you should retain this setting. If you are upgrading from fluorescents (T5 or T8), you may wish to decrease the overall brightness and gradually raise over a period of weeks to allow the corals to acclimatise to the increase in intensity. This will reduce the chance of any bleaching or undesired effects on the corals from a sudden increase in intensity. As a guide when upgrading from fluorescents, Marintech suggest that you begin at setting 3 and raise to setting 4 after one week. Allow one additional week before raising to setting 5. Using this method will ensure that the corals can acclimate appropriately. This method would also be appropriate for planted tanks to avoid burning the plants. For fish only systems, cichlids etc., this method is not required as the maximum brightness setting will not affect the fish if upgrading from a system of lower brightness. This requirement may also be affected by the unit s distance from the tank. If you are concerned about how to place the light and acclimation issues, please contact us. To change the overall brightness: 1. Unplug the unit from power if the unit is currently plugged in. 2. Press and Hold the S button located at the end of the unit. 3. Whilst holding the S button, plug the unit back in.

4 4. Continue holding until 000X is displayed on the LCD screen (with X being the current brightness setting 1 to 5). 5. Release the S button. 6. Using the T+ and T- buttons, select the desired overall brightness level. 7. Once selected, press the E button to return to normal operation. The time should now be displayed on the LCD screen. 8. This operation can be repeated at any time. 5. Individual Brightness Control/Override If you do not wish to use the simulation features of the light, you can override the program and operate the light manually. This may be useful for parties etc., where you wish to keep the lights at maximum brightness during hours where they would not be in the standard configuration. To change the individual brightness: 1. Using the supplied remote control, simply press the + or - A, B, or C buttons. A. = Actinic Lights B. = Moonlights C. = White Lights 2. Each set of lights can be set from values 1 to 10 with 10 being the brightest. 3. To return to the simulation mode, press E. 6. Remote Control The remote control is primarily used to override the brightness as described in section 5. It can also be used to set the time and date as described in section 1 and for powering on and off the unit. Batteries are supplied in the box and must be placed in the remote before use.

Simulation Programming via SD Card (v2 models only) The latest LM v2 models feature an SD card slot used for programming the sunrise/sunset and lunar cycle feature. This allows you to change the standard configuration settings and customise your own cycle as you desire. For example, you may wish to increase the photoperiod for the daylight/actinic combination or simply remove the moonlight feature and utilise these lights as supplementary actinics. Remove the supplied SD card from the slot mounted on the unit. 2. Plug SD card into a PC using a USB card reader or onboard SD card slot (if available). 3. Go to the Marintech website: 4. Click on the Support page. 5. Follow the link Lumimmense Configuration Utility. 6. Using the utility, create a lighting program to suit your requirements. 7. Once complete, click the upload button. 8. Select the SD card from the list of drives available and press OK. 9. Once complete, remove the SD card from your PC and unplug the LED light. 10. Place the SD card back into the slot located on the unit and plug the LED light back in.

6 11. The unit will now use the lighting program that you created. 8. Hanging and Top Mount Option The Lumimmense LED aquarium lights can be placed over the aquarium by one of two ways, either by hanging or using the top mount kit. The hanging kit is supplied with the light, however, the top mount kit is an optional extra, available for purchase directly from Marintech. Hanging Kit: The hanging kit is attached by placing the clips into the mounting holes on top of the light (two at each end) as shown in the below picture. The carabina is then attached to chain (not supplied) secured to the roof (or a suitable alternative). There is no optimal height, however, Marintech suggest that 15cm from the aquarium glass is a good starting point. You may need to raise or lower the light depending on your tank depth and width. If you are not getting the spread you desire, raise the light. Conversely, if you are not getting the desired light penetration, lower the light. The hanging kit provides the most flexibility and is Marintech s preferred option for mounting LED aquarium lights above tanks. Unfortunately this option is not suitable for everyone, hence the option of purchasing the top mount kit.

7 Top Mount Kit: The top mount kit consists of two brackets that allow you to place the light directly on top of the aquarium. The brackets are attached by simply sliding them into the channel located on the face of the light.
