13 2 Description of functions 2.1 Control inputs NOTE The subsequent input "Blocking of watchdog functions / remote acknowledgment" does not exist in version 690 V. Blocking protective device Remote acknowledgement Terminal 5/6 Due to a non-reset high-signal at the discrete input the release of various protection devices may be blocked. This may be useful for instance if the device is used as a generator protection device. Thus, tripping can be avoided for messages ( such as undervoltage or underfrequency) which are permanently active during a machine standstill. If blocking is not required, the discrete input should be permanently interconnected with zero potential. External acknowledgement of the relays via the discrete input "Blocking of watchdog functions / remote acknowledgment". The following functions can not be blocked with this discrete input : Overvoltage Overfrequency Zero voltage Ground fault monitor If you don't want the device to reset the relays automatically as soon as the alarm is no longer present, you must first set the function "Auto-clearing relay" to "OFF" (see chapter "Auto-clearing relay" on page 39). External Clearing OFF OFF Alarms which cannot be blocked are no longer reset automatically if the tripping alarm is no longer present. Press the button "Clear" to reset the relays. ON All alarms which are present are reset if a rising edge is detected at the blocking input. (The discrete input "Blocking of watchdog functions / remote acknowledgment" must be reset from "0" to "1".) Alarms which cannot be blocked are only reset if the alarm is no longer present. External acknowledgement of the alarm messages via the discrete input "Blocking protective device / remote acknowledgement". If you want the device to automatically reset the relays as soon as the alarm is no longer present, but not delete the messages on the display, you must first set the functions "Auto-clearing relay" to "ON" and "Auto-clearing message" to "OFF" (see chapter "Auto-clearing relay" on page 39). External Clearing OFF OFF To reset the messages on the display, press the button "Clear". ON All display messages which are present are reset if a rising edge is detected at the blocking input. (The discrete input "Blocking of watchdog functions / remote acknowledgment" must be set from "0" to "1".) Alarms which cannot be blocked are only reset if the alarm is no longer present. 22 4.1.2 Password (from Version 2.0xx / 3.0xx) The device is equipped with a three-step code and configuration hierarchy which allows to make different configuration masks visible for different users. The difference is made between: Code level 0 (CS0) Code level 1 (CS1) Code level 2 (CS2) User: External person This code level does not allow any access to the parameters. The enter function is blocked. User: Client This code level authorizes the user to modify a few pre-selected parameters. The password cannot be changed at this level. User: Commissioning engineer With this code level 2 the user obtains all access rights, thus having direct access to all parameters (viewing and changing) Moreover, at this level, the user is also authorized to establish passwords for levels 1 and 2. NOTE Once the code level is set, it will not be changed even after entering the configuration repeatedly. If entering an incorrect code number, the code level is set to CS0, thus locking the device for external persons (Entering of the passwords on page 23). Two hours after the last operator action, the device automatically switches to the code level CS0. By entering the appropriate code number you go back to the corresponding level. Enter code number XXXX Enter code number When entering the configuration mode, a code number to identify the different users is inquired first. The number XXXX, which is indicated is a random number and is confirmed with the button "Select". If the random number is confirmed with "Select" without changing it, the code level of the device is not changed. In order to change the code level and to install new passwords for the users, there are two four-digit code numbers( ). For the user level "External person" no assignment is necessary, since normally, the user does not obtain the right to access the configuration level (protected by the codes). 26 4.2.4 Configuration of the rated values (option Yc) NOTE The option Yc cannot be used for 690 V-devices; please refer to chapter 1.3.2b.) "Synchronizing voltage (option Yc - option Iv not available) on page 8. Nominal voltage 000V Nomin. Frequency 00,0Hz Rated voltage [1] 5125 V; [4] V By entering this value, the rated voltage is preset. The rated voltage has an effect on the admissible range for the synchronization (see chapter "Control function for the synchronization (option Yc)" on page 27). Rated frequency Hz By entering this value, the rated frequency is preset. The rated frequency has an effect on the admissible range for the synchronization (see chapter "Control function for the synchronization (option Yc)" on page 27) Configuration of the Type of Monitoring NOTE This configuration mask does not appear if a "Three-wire installation"-voltage measuring has been selected in the configuration mask "voltage measuring" see chapter "Voltage Measuring" on page 25. Mask for "phase-neutral": Volt.-Monitoring phase-neutral Mask for "phase to phase": Volt.-Monitoring phase-phase Monitoring Phase to phase/phase-neutral The device may monitor either the phase voltages (four wire installation) or the llineto-line voltages (three-wire installation). Usually, when using alow-voltage system (400/690 V-version) the phase voltages are monitored (mask text: v(phase-n)), and line-to-line voltages are monitored when using a medium-high-voltage system (100 V-Version) (mask text: v(ph-ph)). Monitoring of the line-to-line voltage is particularly necessary to avoid the tripping of the voltage relays by a line-to-ground fault in an isolated-neutral or compensated system. The mask "voltage measuring" has no effect on this mask but the one described under. The settings in the mask ". Volt. Monitoring" do have the following effect on the configuration masks: Phase-neutral The voltages at the terminals 1 to 4 are measured as if for a phase-neutral installation and the voltage monitoring of all subsequent masks are referred to the phase-to-zero voltage (U L-N). In the configuration masks, this is indicated by adding "(phase-n)". Phase to phase If the voltage system connected to the terminals 1 to 4 is a phase to phase installation, this setting must be selected. The measurement and all subsequent masks referring to voltage monitoring are related to the wire-to-wire voltage (U L- L). In the configuration masks, this is indicated by adding "v(ph-ph)". 27 4.3 Configuration of control functions Control function for the synchronization (option Yc) NOTE This option Yc cannot be used for 690 V-devices; please refer to chapter 1.3.2b.) "Synchronizing voltage (option Yc - option Iv not available) on page 8. a.) Output of the signal "voltages are synchronous" Considering various criteria, an add-on order is output by the device to a power circuit breaker which is designed to connect two sub networks after adjusting the respective voltages and frequencies. The add-on order has a predefined minimum turnon time and is output to a relay. The relay output is firmly assigned to relay 3 (for devices without option R) or to relay 8 (for devices with option R). Function "Synchronization with differential frequency" The electrical phase lead for the output of the add-on order is calculated for each device in a way to always keep the lead time constant, regardless of the current differential frequency. If both, differential voltage and differential frequency, fall below the values adjusted between the two voltage systems, the add-on order can be output, considering the following conditions: The current r.m.s. voltages of both networks must be more than 75 % each, and less than % of the adjusted rated voltage. The voltage must fall below the maximum admissible differential voltage adjusted between the two networks. The frequency must fall below the maximum adjusted differential frequency between the two networks. The electrical angle between two cophasal phases must be smaller than the corresponding maximum admissible error angle (depending on the slip, max. 8 el.). b.) Synchronous networks For synchronous networks, an add-on order is also output by the device as long as the electrical angle between the systems is less than +/-2 el. and the voltage falls below the voltage difference adjusted. c.) Configuration screens Synchronization functions ON Synchronization df max. 0,18Hz Synchronous functions ON/OFF ON The synchronization is monitored and the subsequent masks of this option are indicated. OFF There is no monitoring, and the subsequent masks of this function are not indicated. Max. admissible differential frequency for synchronization Hz A required condition for the output of an add-on order is that the frequency falls below the adjusted differential frequency. This value is valid for a positive slip. Positive slip means: Generator frequency greater than mains frequency (synchronization voltage). Woodward Governor Company Leonhard-Reglerbau GmbH, +49 (0) MFR 11 Manual Page 27/63

28 Synchronization df min. -0,10Hz Synchronization du max = 00,0% Synchronization Time pulse>200ms Circuit breaker Pick-up t. 080ms Min. admissible differential frequency for synchronization Hz A required condition for the output of an add-on order is that the frequency falls below the adjusted differential frequency. This value is valid for a negative slip. Negative slip means: Generator frequency less than mains frequency (synchronization voltage). Max. admissible differential voltage % The percentage indication refers to the secondary voltage adjusted. A required condition for the output of an add-on order is that the voltage falls below the adjusted differential voltage. Min. pules time of the add-on relay ms The duration of the add-on pulse can be adjusted to the subsequent switch unit. The minimum time required for the output of the add-on order is adjusted here. Switcher time delay generator switch ms The adjusted value corresponds to the lead time of the add-on order. The add-on order is independent of the differential frequency and is output at the pre-set time before the synchronous point.
