2 Trident EM Transmitters The Trident series Electromagnetic Transmitters have been developed by Propipe Limited for use with pipeline pigs for identification, tracking and locating. Trident transmitters produce high power, efficient waveforms at a range of frequencies (10-40Hz). Transmitters are programmable using Bluetooth technology, without the requirement to open the unit. Parameters such as; Output Power, Frequency & Pulse Rate can be programmed to optimise the transmitter for a specific pipeline/project. 4 Trident Acoustic Pingers The Trident series acoustic pingers have been developed by Propipe Limited for use with pipeline pigs for identification and tracking or locating. As standard, Trident Pingers can produce up to 20W of acoustic power with a specified range of frequency to maximise detection distance. Trident pingers require the pipeline to be flooded in order for the signal to be transmitted and this acoustic signal provides the information to identify the location of the pig. Pinger repetition rate, power output, pulse length and battery life can be configured to suit the requirements of the project without compromising acoustic signal strength or pig design. Multiple acoustic pingers can be used in a single pig train or in pipelines of close proximity. This is achieved by configuring the frequencies to ensure safe separation. Trident Standard & Smart Pingers SMART PING FACILITY [DUAL RATE] Propipe Trident Pingers can also be incorporated into other products providing a dual rate pinger. The acoustic pinger is connected to the product through a cable and can provide a switching function, which automatically doubles the repetition rate. MOUNTING / ACTIVATION Each Trident Pinger comes complete with a dedicated mounting system ensuring safe and secure fitment to the pipeline pig. Activation of the acoustic signal is achieved upon contact by water (water contact switch) or mechanical switch (prior to loading). ACOUSTIC PINGER TRACKING / LOCATING Propipe s Trident Pinger Series is detectable using the Trident 400 Series receiver system. 6 Trident Smart Gauge The Trident SMART gauge system allows the detection of pipeline flaws - such as a buckle, a dent or excessive weld penetration. The smart gauge system is designed to be fitted to a standard bi-directional pig, enhancing the gauging capability. The system is designed to allow the condition of a pipeline to be assessed without the need to recover the pig from the subsea receiver, saving significant time and costs. Trident Smart Gauge Pig The SMART gauge disc is a conventional aluminium gauge plate complete with contacts on each gauge segment which are connected to a Trident SMART pinger OR transmitter. If the gauge plate is deflected (by a pipeline defect), a contact is broken which automatically changes the signal rate. For example; No Damage = 1 Ping/Pulse every 4 Seconds, Damaged = 1 Ping/Pulse every 2 Seconds. Trident SMART gauge pigs can be detected using DeepBlue subsea ROV receiver OR other detection equipment from the Trident range. 7 Trident 400 Receiver The Trident 400 Receiver system is a portable digital acoustic receiver designed to receive all frequencies from 10kHz to 50kHz. The digital aspect of the Trident 400 Receiver allows for a simple user interface and an enhanced acoustic signal output. Digital filtering provides the ability to isolate individual pigs (within 1kHz) and increased distance detection due to reduced background noise. The Trident 400 receiver has been developed to meet the harsh operating conditions associated with offshore marine operations. It is housed in a waterproof rugged enclosure with a clear LCD display and splash proof key pad for ondeck operations. As standard, the receiver comes complete with a omni-directional hydrophone (50m Cable) suited to deployment over the side of a vessel. The system is also configurable for use with Trident DeepBlue ROV Receiver & 410 Directional Hydrophone. Data from the receiver can be recorded using the USB slot OR viewed live using the Trident PigView software. 8 Trident DeepBlue Propipe s Trident DeepBlue is the world s ONLY Digital subsea pig tracking receiver that can detect both Acoustic & Electromagnetic pig tracking/location devices. DeepBlue can capture signals by using any ONE (or ALL) of the following instruments: 1) Trident 410 Directional Acoustic Hydrophone 2) Trident 430 Omni-Directional Acoustic Hydrophone 3) Trident 510 Electromagnetic Antenna This ability to perform both conventional types of pig tracking with one unit, provides a cost saving and allows for reduced ROV installation time and complexity. 9 Trident 510 EM Antenna The Trident 510 is an Electromagnetic Antenna which is designed for use on ROV s or submersibles to accurately detect and locate pigs fitted with EM Transmitters. When combined with the Trident DeepBlue ROV receiver, the system is capable of detecting multiple pigs on separate frequencies. 10 Trident 430 Hydrophone The Trident 430 is an Omni-Directional acoustic hydrophone which can be used with the Trident Deepblue receiver to assist with acoustic device tracking & location subsea. Its primary function is for multiple pig tracking, however the instrument can also be used for acoustic devices. When combined with the Trident DeepBlue Digital ROV receiver, the omni-directional hydrophone captures a full spectrum of acoustic noise in all directions. The 430 hydrophone can be mounted directly on to the receiver using the MCILF connector OR anywhere by using an 8 Way cable. Technical Specification Housing material... 11 Trident 410 Directional Hydrophone The Trident 410 is a directional hydrophone which is designed for use on ROV s or submersibles. When combined with the Trident DeepBlue Digital ROV receiver, the directional sensitivity of the hydrophone provides the ability to accurately detect & locate acoustic pingers. The 410 hydrophone can be mounted directly on to the ROV skid or supplied complete with a fishtail for use with the manipulator arm. 12 Trident D200 Propipe s Trident D200 is the world s ONLY combined Diver operated subsea pig tracking receiver that can detect both Acoustic & Electromagnetic pig tracking/location devices. The D200 can capture signals by using any ONE of the following instruments: 1) Trident 410 Directional Acoustic Hydrophone 2) Trident 430 Omni-Directional Acoustic Hydrophone 3) Trident 510 Electromagnetic Antenna Display Screen Signal Output The receiver uses a high visibility and easy to interpret subsea display to indicate the received signal. The unit is powered from an internal battery pack (rechargeable) and all controls can be operated subsea. Three push button controls allow the units settings to be adjusted and status checked using an intuitive menu. As an option, the unit can be provided with ROV handles which will allow signals to be monitored via ROV cameras. 13 Trident PigSig S3000 Propipe s Trident PigSig S3000 is a stand-alone magnetic pig signaller, designed for operations down to 3000m subsea. The signaller can detect the passage of pipeline pigs carrying either rare-earth magnets OR electromagnetic signalling devices. Pig passages are logged with a time & date that can be viewed on the units high visibility subsea display. The PigSig S3000 is suitable for use on pipelines with heavy wall thickness and PiP. Detection speed ranges from 0.01 m/s to greater than 10 m/s. The detection capabilities vary depending on the background magnetic noise, pig speed, pipeline diameter and wall thickness. It is recommended that pigs are fitted with rare earth magnets (neodymium iron boron) to maximise magnetic signal. When used in conjunction with Trident electromagnetic transmitters, individual pigs within a train can be coded so they can be easily identified. OPTIONS: The PigSig S3000 can be interfaced with a Trident acoustic pinger, subsea strobe, or Ethernet/RS232 data cables to remotely signal the passage of a pig. In addition, an ROV switch and pipeline cradles can be supplied to assist deployment and operations.
