9 Tracefile Analysis Calculating vsan Cache Size What are Tracefiles? Tracefiles are actual snapshots of R/W IOPS from Customer s vsphere Environment Assessment imitates behavior of vsan in customer environment using Tracefiles Process is called Cache Simulator : it is an approximation of the actual vsan caching for corresponding IOPS Cache Simulator calculates what cache size provides optimal hit rates for the IOPS collected

Summary of VMs IOPS: Block size, number of IOPS, Read or Write Data captured by the Assessment Based on Histogram, each VM is assigned a Score The Score is estimated by calculating the mix of Read/Write operations of VMs
