3 Important Instructions Attention When planning and erecting electrical systems the relevant standards and regulations applicable in the country where the equipment is set up and operated must be duly observed. It is absolutely essential that the EIB bus is installed by an authorized electrician. Laying and connection of the bus line as well as application devices must be in conformity with applicable guidelines specified in the EIB Manual of the European Installation Bus Association (EIBA). 8 Product Description The device is to be mounted in a 60-mm flush-type box. The switching actuator /sensor 6110 U-500 has a relais which is controlled via the ABB i-bus EIB. The switching actuator enables the control of electrical consumers (e.g. lighting fixtures). A local control unit can be installed. For this purpose, an EIB tactile sensor is mounted onto the 6110 U-500 device. In case of a tactile multi-sensor a discretionary button is used to switch the relais in the 6110 U-500 unit. The other buttons may be used to control other EIB devices. Using the single tactile sensor type the local switching function can be carried out without previous parameterizing when line and bus voltage is on. The switching behavior is preset by means of the parameterizing function of the EIBA Tool Software ETS2. In standard mode (normally open) the contact is made without time lag if an ON telegram is received and opened without time lag if an OFF telegram is sent. Changing between the two switching states takes 1 second max. In case a tactile multi-sensor is used the other buttons are also parameterized with the help of ETS2.

10 Installation To be observed when mounting: The load power circuit must be protected by a 6A protective circuit breaker! When the switching actuator / sensor type 6110 U-500 is to control fluorescent lamps the instructions of the lamp / electronic ballast manufacturer must be observed with respect to making current and power factor; if necessary, a making-current limiter (eg 6515) has to be used. To install the device use a 60-mm flush-mounting box to DIN In the event insulated wires of 24-V bus line and 230-V power lines are crossed or laid close to each other a minimum spacing of 4 mm has to be allowed for (refer to Facility System Technology Manual issued by ZVEI/ ZVEH).Individual line wires separated for connection shall be kept as short as possible. The bus line must enter the mounting box from the right. Run power circuit lines into the mounting box from below.

11 Installation Mounting Disconnect Mains Voltage! Open the cover (Fig. 2, Item 11) with the help of a small screwdriver (arrow). Run the still sheathed bus lines from the right side into the interior of the device (see Fig. 3). Bus lines are connected via a bus terminal block. Connect the bus lines as shown in the connection diagram (Fig. 3). The bus line may be daisy-chained to other users/stations of the EIB installation system. Mount the bus terminal (Fig. 1, Item 13) and close the cover. Connect the on-load current lines to the terminals (Fig. 1, Item 12) as indicated in the connection diagram (Fig. 3). Place the device in its mounting position (see Fig. 1) and secure it in the flush-mounting box. Make sure the prescribed minimum spacing between bus connection and on-load current circuit lines has been observed. If the physical address has been assigned, mount the intended application. To do this, proceed as outlined in the operating instructions issued for the application.

12 Commissioning Connect a PC equipped with the EIBA tool software ETS2 to the EIB bus line via an EIB-RS 232 interface. Assigning Physical Address Press the programming key (Fig.1, Item 9) at the bus coupling unit; the red programming LED (Fig.1, Item 10) will become illuminated. After the physical address has been programmed, the red LED will go out. Using a wipe-resistant pencil note down on the device the physical address. Assigning Group Address(es) The group addresses are assigned via a PC with the aid of the ETS2 software. Selecting and Setting Parameters of Applications Using the ETS2 software you are able to set and establish the parameters for the controller in a menu-assisted manner.
