1 Alcatel-Lucent OmniTouch My Teamwork Land Mobile Conferencing and Collaboration (LMRCC)

2 For on site mobile and remote staff in public safety, enterprise, and instutional environments, the office is not a fixed location with a desktop PC and telephone. For these workers, reliable communication is critical to job performance. Receiving up-todate information and the ability to respond and implement a plan is key. However communication access and interoperability is frequently a barrier due to the high costs and complex implementation required to connect disparate private and public networks and the array of devices used. OmniTouch My Teamwork LMRCC Solution The primary communication device for field personnel, on-premises mobile workers, and emergency first responders is land mobile radios (LMR). Recent breakthroughs in this technology enable LMRs to interoperate, allowing radios on different frequencies and system types to communicate. Alcatel-Lucent takes this LMR technology to the next level with OmniTouch My Teamwork LMRCC. The solution bridges the voice gap between radio, PBX set, and mobile phone/pda users allowing them to engage in the same multiparty conference call. OmniTouch My Teamwork LMRCC combines LMR interoperability with the feature-rich OmniTouch My Teamwork and SIP-based OmniTouch Advanced Communications Server (ACS) software platform to enable audio and data conferencing in the context of an LMR session. The solution supports voice conferencing with any telephony device in the LMR band and data collaboration with central office staff and users in remote locations with access to a secure Internet browser. 3 OmniTouch My Teamwork A multimedia, multiparty conferencing and collaboration application, My Teamwork is completely software-based running on commonly available computer hardware for premises-based and hosted deployments or software as a service (SaaS) model delivery. The browser-based solution is enabled from any telephone, any location, and any browser for secure conferencing with anyone inside or outside the business without installing a client or using a virtual private network (VPN). The presence-aware, easy-to-use interface supports a complete feature set including meet-me, ad-hoc, and scheduled events with click-to-conference, IM chat, application and desktop sharing, document management, point-to-point integrated video, and more. For example, typically local police and fire departments using different radio bands are not able to communicate with one another during a crisis situation. With OmniTouch My Teamwork LMRCC, the application programming interfaces (APIs) in the underlying ACS map calls from the disparate radio systems via a conference bridge allowing the police and fire departments to communicate and respond to emergency events as a coordinated effort.

4 OmniTouch My Teamwork Paging System OmniTouch My Teamwork also supports a paging system adding voice-over-ip overhead speakers to conferences. The OmniTouch My Teamwork Paging System (MPS) broadcasts emergency alerts to single or multiple sites via sipenabled overhead speakers, acting as listen only conference participants. Speakers may be bridged into a single event or multiple conferences and PBX or radio set users can choose to page single or multiple overhead speakers. For example a central dispatch operator at the Police department uses OmniTouch MPS to page speakers at the local sports arenas, schools, and hospitals warning of severe weather conditions with anticipated flooding and power outages. The schools and stadiums need a single alert for evacuation purposes, while the hospitals require frequent updates on the situation. 5 For Emergency Response Consider the 2004 Tsunami that hit Southern Thailand, the Great Hanshin Earthquake near Kobe Japan in 1995, the events of September 11, 2001 in New York or Hurricane Katrina that decimated the US Gulf coast in All of these natural and human disasters required disparate emergency organizations at local and national levels to work together and respond immediately and efficiently time is critical. Real-time voice communication between on-site stakeholders for decision-making and field staff for implementation is necessary. Normally the only on site mode of communication in these instances is land mobile radios (LMRs) used by public safety groups dispatched to the site. With OmniTouch My Teamwork LMRCC, field staff equipped with LMRs can be connected to both one another and a central emergency operations center with Internet access to receive and relay data. In a real-use scenario an emergency conference bridge is set-up to coordinate efforts across an affected area. On the call an operator and other staff from various government and military branches view satellite imagery of the area and share data with off-site subject matter experts for analysis. Field teams using a variety of devices including LMRs can also join the call and to be kept apprised of situations as they happen so plans can be altered as needed. To effectively protect and serve constituents in these times of natural and human disasters, governments and public safety groups at every level require a coordinated command and control response action plan. Effective, real-time communication helps save lives and increases security. 80 percent of US cities surveyed do not have interoperable communications with the Department of Homeland Security and Justice Department.
