3 IQ DC Power Supply Effective Date: 7/05 Page Introduction The IQ DC Power Supply is a dc to ac inverter module intended for operation of ac powered devices from a dc supply. The unit will operate the Eaton Cutler- Hammer MP-3000, URTD or other ac-powered equipment requiring no more than 100 VA of power at any power factor. Output Voltage: sinusoidal wave, 120 Vac 60 Hz /.17 A Continuous (20 VA) THD is less than 5% at full load Operating Temperature Range: -20 C to + 60 C Humidity: 5-95% non-condensing Protection Limits: Average output current is limited to 0.4 A. After an average current overload, unit cools itself and restarts. Complies with ANSI standards. 4.0 Installation This technical document covers most aspects of installation, operation and unit level maintenance of the IQ DC Power Supply. This document is a guide only for authorized and qualified personnel who select and use the IQ DC Power Supply. If you require further information regarding particular installation, application or maintenance activity, contact your Cutler-Hammer representative. These instructions do not cover all details, variations or combinations of the equipments, its storage, delivery, installation, check-out, safe operation or maintenance. Care must be exercised to comply with local, state and national regulations, as well as safety practices for this class of equipment. CAUTION REMOVE ALL POWER FROM THE DEVICE TO WHICH THE IQ DC POWER SUPPLY IS BEING CONNECTED; OTHERWISE, SERIOUS OR FATAL PERSONAL INJURY AND EQUIPMENT DAMAGE MAY RESULT. Figure 1: IQ DC Power Supply 2.0 Features Handles input voltages of 125 Vdc ac output is isolated from the incoming power Input surge protection according to IEC Level 3 (2 kv) Sinusoidal Waveform 3.0 Specifications Supply Voltage: 125 Vdc (.4 A max at full load) Nominal. Operates from 105 to 140 Vdc. Input Isolation: 1.5 k Vdc input to output, input to chassis and output to chassis The IQ DC Power Supply should be fastened securely in place before operating. Locate the module in an area where air can freely move about the unit. While mounting the unit absolutely NO power should be connected. See Figure 2 for mounting holes. 5.0 Wiring See Figure 3 for electrical connections. 1. Note that the unit has no ON-OFF switch identify some external means of removing the dc supply. 2. Connect the ac load to the terminals labeled 115 VAC OUTPUT. Either terminal can be connected to ac common. 3. Connect the dc supply leads to the terminals labeled 125 VDC INPUT. Figure 3: Terminals 6.0 Operation Dc voltage may be applied to the IQ DC Power Supply by any number of methods. It will start reliably with a 125 Vdc step input from a contractor or with a slow ramp from a dc power source. In no event will Eaton be responsible to the purchaser or user in contract, in tort (including negligence), strict liability or otherwise for any special, indirect, incidental or consequential damage or loss of use of equipment, plant or power system, cost of capital, loss of power, additional expenses in the use of existing power facilities, or claims against the purchaser or user by its customers resulting from the use of the information and descriptions contained herein.
