2 The Eaton Logic Controller. Compact, modular, and ready to communicate. It s the cost-effective solution to machine control. Eaton Cutler-Hammer s D50 PLC broke new ground in terms of size, performance and cost. The Eaton Logic Controller (ELC) puts even more I/O and communications capability in a package less than half the size at just 3.5" x 2.4" x 1.4". In the same space that the D50 provided 14 I/O, the new ELC provides 46!

3 Machine space is measured in inches. The ELC is measured the same way. Add value with the ELC. While the ELC is perfectly suited for applications of 40 I/O and less, it can also be expanded to 256 I/O. That means there s no need to change to a different controller as I/O needs expand. What s more, with the ELC s two communications ports it can provide any networking task. In remote I/O mode, the ELC communicates and shares information with up to 16 other devices, and in normal mode, the ELC can communicate with up to 32 other devices. Its small size allows for reduced panel size, and saves valuable machine space. No racks required. A DIN rail lets you add as many modules as desired. Just snap on, and slide into place. All connections are done automatically. Built-in display. An integral LED display provides user-assigned process monitoring, error messages, alarms, display counts and more.

4 PC Configuration Software Program on your PC and download to the ELC through a serial cable. Make on-line changes, monitor and remote control the run/stop operation of the ELC. Software wizards simplify the programming process. Half the size of most PLCs, the Cutler-Hammer ELC puts the right amount of I/O right where you need it. The right amount of I/O. 5 The ELC. Value now has a new definition. The ELC can master other ELC controllers creating an unlimited hierarchy of communications. Capability The ELC provides the instruction set of a large PLC in a small package. It is capable of 1-, 4-, 8-, 16- and 32-bit instructions, block compare, block move, communications, interrupts, clock/calendar and logic, over 240 instructions in all. Flexibility The same ELC controller can expand from 10 I/O to 256 I/O. Size Most modules are only 1" wide and offer I/O from 4 In and 4 Out, to 8 In and 8 Out. Price ELC components are priced right for virtually any control needs. Remote Communication All ELC analog type modules are capable of stand-alone operation. Mounted remotely, the ELC communicates to the analog module through its communications port. The ELC also lets you read parameters, set parameters, use scale, offset, and average values. If your application has as few as six to eight pushbuttons, it can make good business sense to switch to the Eaton Graphics Panel (GP). Traditional pushbuttons and other control switches require panel space and labor. Changes and upgrades come with additional costs, not to mention downtime.
