1 EN 954 SafeC S Safety Relay SafeC S: Narrow construction of only 22.5 mm SafeC S is a sturdy and extremely inexpensive safety relay which impresses with its unusual efficiency and versatility, despite its narrow construction. Certification in accordance with Category 4 of EN enables utilisation in the most sophisticated industrial areas. All SafeC S functions have been optimised for the inclusion of safety light curtains in the most varied safety systems. A combination of the SafeC S with a type Safe2+ or Safe4 safety light curtain achieves safety in the most varied applications, effortlessly, professionally and inexpensively. The evaluation unit has been specially developed for the simple realisation of the many different applications involving muting or stroke operation. Particular value was placed on simple operation and low purchasing costs in this respect. 60 different functions enable the safe and reliable solution to the most varied applications. For example, up to three light curtain systems may be simultaneously connected! All SafeC M2S functions have been optimised for the Safe2+ and Safe4 safety light curtain systems. The short reaction times of all components enables its utilisation in applications with an extremely high cyclic frequency. Moreover, CEDES provides a large selection of different optical sensors for muting applications (see Automation Products). Till now, the integration of a safety light curtain, an emergency STOP button or a safety door switch required an individual safety relay and wiring for each component. 4 Safety Configurator Safety Tool Design of the light curtain Calculate the safety distance The Safety Configurator is a software package which runs on PC's with MS- Windows and is utilised for comprehensive planning in machine safety. The Safety Configurator consists of the System Designer for designing and optimising light curtain systems with regard to performance and costs. Secondly, it is also used for calculating the individual safety distance requirements with Application Info. Thirdly, with help of the OptiLink interface diagnosis of the safety system and comfortable administration of system accounts can be carried out. And lastly the Order Form can automate and document the ordering of units. Whether employed for diagnosis or other technical applications, OptiLink registers all light curtain events and statistically evaluates these immediately on request with spread sheet programs (e.g. Microsoft Excel). OptiLink consists of a sensor head and a dongle. The sensor head acts as a transceiver with an infrared LED, for transmitting data, and a receiver. Signals are decoded in the dongle and prepared for the PC serial interface. The sensor head can be simply attached to the unit with a suction cup for short-term measurements. A Velcro belt is provided with the OptiLink for securing it firmly during long-term measurements. A link between the light curtain and your PC can be established within a few seconds. 6 Mirror The Safety Mirror from CEDES is a high-quality mirror with the compact and sturdy profile of the well-known Safe2+/Safe4 program. Of particular advantage is the laser alignment system ILAS integrated in the CEDES light curtains which facilitate alignment of the mirror, despite its narrow structure. 7 Start Button Emergency STOP Button The 22QR Start Button can be used to trigger the start-up or restarting of a machine. The 22QR Emergency STOP Button is suitable for immediate deactivation of an application in an emergency. 22QR Start Button The 22QR Start Button is a flush pressure button which impresses chiefly through its simple installation and comfortable connection. Both switching elements with gold contacts are equipped with cage clamp terminals. Cables can be secured in a stable and safe manner with the aid of a screwdriver. A seal prevents humidity, oil and dust from penetrating through to the contact elements. Switching reliability is thus guaranteed for the entire service life (IP65). The 22QR Start Button has been developed for a service life of more than 1 million switching operations. The 22QR Emergency STOP Button is fixed at the rear with a threaded ring. The degree of protection is equivalent to IP65, the required installation aperture of 22.3 mm conforms with IEC 947. Moreover, the standards DIN EN 60204, IEC 73, IEC 204, DIN EN 60947, VDE 0660 Part 200 and VDE 0113 Part 1 are met. The positively-driven mechanical motion is protected against interference (in accordance with EN 418). 8 Key Switch Muting Lamp 22QR Key Switch Key switches are necessary if (to give an example) a safety light curtain is to be manually short circuited by authorised personnel for the purpose of service or setup operations. Installation of the 22QR Key Switch is extremely simple. The actuating element is simply held in the installation aperture and then screwed tightly into position from behind with a threaded ring. The switching element is equipped with two make contacts with gold surfaces and achieves the protection degree IP65 during the entire course of its service life. It is secured against twisting with a twisting guard. The threaded ring can be fitted with grips if a twisting guard is not fitted. The sprayed bonding seal cannot be lost or twisted during installation. A muting lamp (also called a signal lamp) indicates if a light curtain has been bypassed. The 806 Muting Lamp from CEDES is a product which is designed to have a service life of over 50'000 hours.
