1 PCI-SIG ENGINEERING CHANGE NOTICE TITLE: WWAN Key C Definition DATE: March 18, 2015 AFFECTED DOCUMENT: M.2 Specification Rev 1.0 SPONSOR: Ra anan Sover; Intel Corp on Behalf of WWAN Sub-Team Part I 1. Summary of the Functional Changes This ECR describes the necessary changes to enable a new WWAN Key C definition to be included as an addition to the existing spec. The intent is to create a dedicated WWAN socket Key and pinout definition. This new pinout definition will be focused on WWAN specific interfaces and needs. The new Key C definition contains a revised mixture of Host I/Fs and side band signaling intended to support future WWAN solutions while also offering additional flexibility with the aid of an assortment of Vendor Defined pins that will enable unique BTO/CTO definitions while relying on a basic complement of standard assigned signaling, functionality and pinout. 2. Benefits as a Result of the Changes The inclusion of a dedicated WWAN socket key definition. In line with future WWAN interface and functional needs/requirements. It includes a revised assortment of Host I/Fs, side band and functional signals aligned with the industry trend of 1.8 V signal voltages levels and built in flexibility to enable unique signaling in a BTO/CTO manner with the aid of ample number of Vendor Defined pins. 3. Assessment of the Impact No impact on existing HW. There is no backward or forward compatibility as this is a new definition with a new Key. Module and platform would both need to be specifically designed to work with each other. 4. Analysis of the Hardware Implications No danger of wrongful insertions as this is using a new Key. 5. Analysis of the Software Implications N/A. 6. Analysis of the C&I Test Implications N/A. Page 1
