1 Message from the president Aiming to Achieve Our Corporate Concept: For lively people, and a green Earth ITOKI was founded in 1890 as Osaka-based Itoki Shoten. Since that time, the Company has evolved in line with the changing times. We have played a role in the world and contributed to steady growth through the numerous products and services we provide. We owe a debt of gratitude to the many stakeholders who have supported us over the years, including our customers, shareholders and investors and local communities. As we look toward the 130th anniversary of our founding in 2020, we will emphasize a management strategy that prioritizes four areas: creating energy for our customers, enhancing the energy of our employees, contributing to the energy of the Earth, and opening up the possibilities of the future. We aim to make use of knowledge and technology at the leading edge of changing society. By creating a variety of spaces, environments and locations, we will contribute to the growth of our customers businesses, as well as to maintaining the health of the people who gather to work there and to the Earth as a whole. 2 Corporate Concept For lively people, and a green Earth ITOKI adopted Ud & Eco style as its corporate message in Aimed at realizing sustainable co-creation with society, this concept represents the fusion of Universal Design (Ud) and ecological design (Eco). To Ud, which aims to increase safety and convenience, we augmented the concept of not stimulating people in a negative way with increasing positive stimulation. We pursue comfort both emotional and physical by fostering creative and inspiring environments that increase enjoyment and motivation. In Eco design, to our previous focus on using resources wisely we added efforts to reduce environmental impact, as are expressed in the 3R concept of reduce, reuse and recycle. To help reduce CO2 emissions, we are making proposals that emphasize saving and generating energy as part of our effort to realize a low-carbon society. As our focus evolves from People-friendly, and Earth-friendly to For lively people, and a green Earth, we will continue to contribute actively to people and the Earth by creating spaces, environments and workplaces.
