5 Introduction
6 Cisco Unified Computing Systems Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) is a unified platform that provides policy-based automation and standardization of IT processes allowing for greater scalability and simplified management. UCS for Data Center customers can: Create an agile data center and allow for greater innovation while reducing costs, time and complexity Accelerate return on investment Reduce operational costs, accelerate deployment times and save IT staff time Increase bandwidth, reduce latency and provide better customer service to employees and customers BRKINI Cisco and/or its affiliates. 9 Cisco Unified Computing Systems Business Value: Accelerate installation time to production and time to value. Align business requirements to technology plans. Reduce time and risk of associated with bringing UCS Central into production for managing new UCS domains. Customer Challenges: Building a scalable infrastructure to meet business demands. Minimizing risks and re-designs. Creating a flexible architecture to support growth and change. BRKINI Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. Cisco Public 9

14 Unified Computing Systems Server Profile: Stateless Stateless client computing is where every compute node has no inherent state pertaining to the services it may host. In this respect, a compute node is just an execution engine for any application (CPU, memory, and disk flash or hard drive). The core concept of a stateless computing environment is to separate state of a server that is built to host an application, from the hardware it can reside on. The servers can easily then be deployed, cloned, grown, shrunk, de-activated, archived, re-activated, etc. BRKINI Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. Cisco Public 14
