Presentation on: National SDGs Reporting Platform Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, May 2018 Ernest Nyarku & Christopher Conduah Ghana 1
Outline of Presentation Lessons Learnt From Dissemination of MDGs Brief on Localisation Process of the SDGs National Capacity Assessment National Indicators Reporting Platform for SDGs SDGs Implementation Architecture Conclusion 2
Lessons from dissemination of MDG indicators To ensure full implementation Ghana mainstreamed MDGs into the respective national development policy frameworks. Progress towards the attainment of the MDGs was reported annually since 2002 in Annual Progress Reports on the implementation of national development policy frameworks In addition, Special MDG biennial reports were produced by NDPC 3
Lessons from dissemination of MDG indicators Indicators were available because of the common platform (DevInfo) that Ghana adapted (GhanaInfo) as the main system for disseminating the MDG indicators. The UNSD Countrydata program also employed the GhanaInfo platform to improve MDG data/indicator dissemination using SDMX (with a more improved metadata) That made it easy for discrepancies between international and national data to be explained 4
Localisation process Assess the extent of convergence between local, regional and global frameworks Align Identify suitable targets & indicators and make amendments, if necessary, to suit Ghanaian context Adopt targets and indicators for use in the national and sub national planning systems Indicator monitoring and tracking framework Adopt Adapt Report
