1 Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Board Action/Information Summary Action Information MEAD Number: Resolution: Yes No TITLE: Security Report PURPOSE: To present to the Board of Directors, an update on security-related information, to include current crime trends, actions and other security related information. Additionally, a brief summary of the duties and responsibilities of the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will also be presented. DESCRIPTION: The Metro Transit Police Department (MTPD) security report ensures that security related information is publicly communicated, with the goal of enhancing the security awareness of our customers and Metro employees. The crime trends and crime statics presented will be presented in concert and in a similar format as the recently implemented Managing and Enforcing Transit Related Offenses (MetroStat). The crime trends and statistics will provide a real-time and up to date snap shot of crime trends occurring within the Metro bus and rail systems. Furthermore, the MTPD will briefly provide the Board of Directors an overview of the duties, responsibilities and accomplishments of the Office of Emergency Management (OEM). This portion of the presentation will provide the Board of Directors with a general synopsis of the dynamic role the OEM plays on a daily basis in an effort to improve the operation of the entire Authority on a routine basis and it unusual incidents.
