8 Existing Statewide Data Scatter Plot This scatter plot includes data from many sources. These data are compatible with a variety of formats. These data can be queried by attribute or spatially.

9 Database Join Example This join is between Access and SQL DB s The base map is GIS ready and produced by Computer Services This example illustrates a join between information from Programs and Contracts, Computer Services and Environmental Divisions

11 Hi Resolution Imagery with ROW, Roadway, CAMP and Assessor Information County and Municipal Parcel (CAMP) Arkansas Geographic Information Office Cooperative Project with Environmental, Surveys and ROW Divisions AHTD, AGIO and County Assessors.

12 New Database using Microsoft Access made to resemble an Excel spreadsheet to ease user into the Database. All data in database is in one table which can be queried on any field. Data stored in an SQL Database with MS Access front end to view and manipulate data. Data can be secured in SQL database so that only authorized personnel can edit data although everyone can view. Original Excel spreadsheet containing data. Separate worksheet for each District. Data cannot be queried in it s entirety. Data is difficult to connect to a GIS platform. Excel is limited in it s ability to generate user created reports

14 Data Maintenance 1. Preplan as much as possible and have a contingency to add new data fields. 2. Try to develop common field(s) for queries or joins. 3. Document data fields/methodology. 4. Keep writers to data at a minimum. 5. Develop Metadata.

16 Archiving Imagery 1. Preplan as much as possible. 2. Be prepared for large volumes of data. 3. Have a consistent naming convention that includes imagery date in a specified format. 4. Try to keep to one coordinate system. 5. Document Source(s) of imagery. 6. Imagery is not always aerial in nature.

20 The Background Aerial imagery for the entire survey area was loaded onto the six GeoXTs. Once zoomed in, the resolution on the units was very suitable for use in the survey.

23 Training The Road to Success Overall the group consisted of twenty two Highway Dept. staff as well as members from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife, the Army Corps of Engineers and Cornell University
