3 Project Goals Create and maintain a statewide public road centerline database Accuracy at least 5 m - most will be better (metadata provided) Make the road centerline database the source when looking for regional and statewide road database information The road database is a linear referencing system for much of the transportation data in the state

9 Project Goals Linear Referencing Model Provides a means for integrating many different databases Business data referenced to road using LRS Linear location (mile post, milepoint, address, literal description) Spatial location (x,y pair; lat,long pair) Segmental locations (control segments) Maintain the LRS not just the centerline Allows more data to be integrated Business data can be maintained independent of the road centerline
