3 1.0 Introduction The purpose of this document is to provide you with some useful information which will assist you in setting up and logging into Sage Intelligence when your Sage ERP X3 database is an Oracle database. The document also provides some useful tips for converting the SQL Report Designer template to an Oracle template. 2.0 Logging into Sage Intelligence To set up and log into Sage Intelligence when using an Oracle edition of Sage ERP X3 Oracle you will need to do the following after Installing Sage Intelligence: 1. Install Sage Intelligence Financial Reporting for Sage ERP X3 Note: Please refer to the Sage Intelligence Financial Reporting for Sage ERP X3 Installation Guide for more information on how to install the software. 1. Download and Install MS-SQL Express with mixed mode authentication and use the master database to log in. MS-SQL Express can be downloaded from and is around 120MB. Tip: For more information on mixed mode authentication please see the following resource: 2. Launch the Connector and when prompted, log in to Sage Intelligence using the SQL Express and master database credentials:

4 3. Once logged in to the Connector scroll down to System DSN (SQL Style 5) driver and add a connection: a. Any identifying name can be inserted into Connection Name, b. Select the browse button next to System DNS Name and select the ODBC connection that connects to the Oracle Sage ERP X3 database c. Under User ID and Password enter the credentials used to log into the oracle Sage ERP X3 database. 4. In order to verify that the connection to the Sage ERP X3 database is valid you must Check/Test the connection. Ensure that you have the newly created connection selected. In the Connector Ribbon, Select the Home node and select the Check/Test option.

6 3.0 Importing and Running the Template 1. Retrieve the sample Oracle Template from the Sage Intelligence Community Free Report Template Group. You will need to join this group before you are able to download the sample template. Note: The sample template available on the Free Report Template Group is not supported by Sage and can be downloaded and imported for demonstration purposes. 2. Once you are a member of the group, under the Sage Intelligence Report Templates, Select the Sage Intelligence Financial Reporting for Sage ERP X3 category. 3. Select the Demonstration Report Designer SX3 1-0 (Oracle) Template and click on the link to download it. You will download an.al_ file which can be imported into Sage Intelligence. 4. Launch the Sage Intelligence Report Manager. 5. Select the folder to which you would like to import the sample template 6. In the ribbon, select the Tools tab and then select Import Report 7. When prompted, navigate to the location of the downloaded.al_ file and select it.

7 8. Under Target connection, Select the connection created in section 2.0 from the available list. 9. Select Import. The Report will be imported and display under the Folder. 8 Addendum: Conversion Tips The following section offers tips for converting a Sage Intelligence SQL template to a PLSQL template which can be run against an Oracle database. 1. Start by confirming your Schema. Ensure that in your containers (not expressions), you do a Find and Replace and Replace DEMO. With "<your schema>." Find and replace can be done by right clicking on your container and selecting the find and replace option. 2. Work through each of the containers one by one ensuring that no SQL errors occur when replacing the SQL syntax with Oracle syntax. The following tips are useful to note when converting your containers: 1.0 Brackets Square Brackets are not supported by Oracle Syntax, these can be replaced with quotation ( ) by right clicking on your container and selecting the find and replace option. Replace ] and [ with 2.0 Year Year(<date>) is not supported by Oracle Syntax. You will have to use the Extract statement. The example below is taken from Report Designer - Fiscal Year Detail SX3 1-1: SQL Syntax: YEAR ([FISCALYEAR].[FIYEND_0])

9 Oracle PLSQL Syntax: EXTRACT(YEAR FROM "FISCALYEAR"."FIYEND_0") 3.0 String Concatenation You will need to replace all "+" with " ". This can be done with a Find and Replace as with the example on brackets above. SQL Syntax: A + = + B Oracle PLSQL Syntax: A = B 4.0 ISNULL SQL Statement Oracle does not support the ISNULL statement used in the Report Designer SQL containers but instead uses a NVL statement to replace null values. You will need to do a Find and Replace on ISNULL with NVL. 5.0 String Manipulation The LEFT and RIGHT statements below are not supported by Oracle. Instead this there is a substr statement. Which can be manipulated to work in the same way using the oracle LENGTH statement. (SQL has the LEN Statement). SQL Syntax: LEFT and RIGHT statement. LEFT(<string value>,<number of characters to return>) and RIGHT(<string value>,<number of characters to return>) Oracle PLSQL Syntax: Report Designer - Pyramid Groups and Links SX3 1-1 container.

10 6.0 NULLS \Empty Strings. Empty strings are not catered for in Oracle and are stored as an empty space. You can use a Trim statement to convert to a null. This applies to both the below containers used by the Report Designer: Report Designer - Actuals Analytical SX3 1-1 Report Designer - Actuals Financial SX3 1-1 SQL Syntax: Report Designer - Actuals Analytical SX3 1-1 Oracle PLSQL Syntax: Report Designer - Actuals Analytical SX3 1-1
