3 Document Summary This document will guide you through the steps involved in migrating ADSelfService Plus from the default database to MS SQL Server as the database. The document is written with the assumption that you are a system administrator with a basic knowledge of Windows operating system and Microsoft SQL Server. However, care has been taken to keep the configuration steps as simple as possible. Steps to configure and run ADSelfService Plus with MS SQL Server as the database Step 1: Pre-requisites From the installed MS SQL Server, copy the files bcp.exe and bcp.rll to <Installation_directory>\bin (By default: C:\ManageEngine\ADSelfService Plus\bin) folder. Open the services.msc console on the machine where MS SQL Server is installed. Check whether the SQL browser service is running. If not, please start the service. If ADSelfService Plus and MS SQL Server are installed on different machines, download the same version of MS SQL Server Native Client and install it on the machine where ADSelfService Plus is installed. This is required for ADSelfService Plus to communicate with the remote database server. Step 2: ADSelfService Plus configuration Open an elevated command prompt and change to the <Installation_directory>\bin\ (By default: C:\ManageEngine\ADSelfService Plus\bin) directory. If you have a fresh installation of ADSelfService Plus, then type changedb.bat support@adselfserviceplus.com Page 3

4 If you already have data in the ADSelfService Plus database, then type changedb.bat true to migrate the data from the currently database to MS SQL Server. In the DB Configuration wizard that opens, select Server Type as MS SQL Server. Enter the Host Name of the SQL Server. The values for Port number and Available MS SQL Server Instances will be automatically loaded. Select the instance you want to use from the list. Enter the Database Name. Select the authentication type using the Connect Using option. You can select from two options: Windows Authentication: For Windows Authentication, enter the Domain Name, User Name and Password. Ensure that both the ADSelfService Plus server and the MS SQL Server are in the same domain and logged in with the same Domain Administrator account. NOTE: If the SQL server and the ADSelfService Plus Server are in different domains, you can only use SQL Server Authentication. SQL Server Authentication: For SQL Server Authentication, enter the MS SQL Server User Name and Password Page

5 Click Test button to check whether the credentials are correct. If the test fails, check whether the credentials you have entered are correct and try again. Click Save button to save the SQL Server configuration. It will take a few minutes to configure the settings of the SQL Server database. Note: ADSelfService Plus creates a new database on the MS SQL server during this process. Start ADSelfService Plus. It should now work with MS SQL Server as the database.
