2 XF RENDERING SERVER 2009 XF Rendering Server 2009 is a high-volume, high-speed solution for generating a wide range of communication materials from XML. It can process documents of any size and paginate content at a rate of thousands of pages per minute, making it the fastest XML formatter in the world. HOW DOES IT WORK? The XML data from a backend system is combined with a template to generate PDF and other formats. This process happens in an unattended mode and can occur ondemand or in batch. The templates are based on open standards and can be designed with XF Designer 2009 or any other designer able to generate XSL style sheets. ELECTRONIC TYPESETTING Consistent, automated layout is mandatory for today s corporate communication materials. As opposed to the average report generation tool, an electronic typesetting engine performs complicated tasks that make your publications look modern and professional: Layout headers and footers which can be different for first, even and odd pages. Automatic layout of footnotes should be performed while following proximity rules. Text should be handled according to widows and orphans rules. Keep and break rules should also be satisfied. Can process multilingual documents (Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese, Thai, etc.) Can Hyphenate output in 27 languages including German, English, etc. Uses multiple processors/cores when available to reduce the processing time. Has a very small memory footprint which allows more requests to be processed simultaneously. Can merge multiple inputs (including XSL-FO, PDF, etc.) into one large output stream. XF DESIGNER XF Designer 2009 is a user-friendly, easy to learn document template editor with an advanced XSL-driven WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) interface. Although it looks and works just like a conventional word processor, the designer gives you much more flexibility to alter or reuse layout, by separating it from the underlying data. 6 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS The following are the minimum system requirements: Software: Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 or later including the upcoming Windows 7, RedHat Enterprise Linux and RedHat Linux Fedora Core. Hardware: Minimum 2.4 GHz Pentium 4 or better, 512 Mb of RAM, 10 GB of free disk space. For all versions, using multicore or hyperthreaded CPUs will improve the response in highly concurrent environments. In addition, for the Ultrascale version, it is highly desirable to use Dual or Quad CPU server class machines. That is because Ultrascale is able to process a document on more than one CPU, if available. SUMMARY XF Rendering Server features a new, second-generation XML formatting engine.
