FB27678: The Windows commandline tool "SmashPdfCmd" introduces the new parameter "readpermissions" which initially checks whether the PDF documents to be protected are already signed or encrypted or whether modification in Acrobat Reader are permitted. If the file(s) cannot be encrypted using SmartShelter PDF, the error message WB3510 is returned. FB21773: PDF documents with screenshot protection could not be opened, if Adobe Reader Version 11 and higher ran in ProtectedMode. Now error messages display, if a non-authorized screenshot process is detected. Since screenshot protection in protected mode of Adobe Reader Version 11 and higher cannot be guaranteed, such documents cannot be opened. This holds for Adobe Reader 11 on Windows 7 and higher.

When a protected document is open and an undesired process is detected, then SmartShelter PDF tries to stop the process. An additional dialog asks whether the installation is to be user-based only or machine-based, i.e. for all users of this computer. After machine-based installing the SmartShelter installation is visible in the software program list of the control panel (FB23240). Within Adobe Reader an incompatibility of SmashPdf Reader Plugin with a plugin of a third party provider was fixed (FB23175). SmartShelter PDF 11a Release Date: 2013-Mar-13 Windows The SmartShelter PDF Reader installer did not recognize existing Adobe Acrobat installations. This forecluded using the plugin with Adobe Acrobat (FB22584).

The functional scope of the previous Version 11 release is not affected and remains unchanged (FB21665). SmartShelter PDF 11 Release Date: 2012-Dec-20 Currently, the delivery of an installer for Mac OS X operating systems is halted. The solution for this problem is pending with the support of Adobe (FB21665). SmartShelter PDF 11 now supports Adobe Acrobat Version 11. PDF documents encrypted with SmartShelter PDF Author 11 can not be opened with older SmartShelter PDF Reader versions. End customers which have older version installed must update their versions to be able to open encrypted documents (FB21752). PDF documents encrypted with older SmartShelter PDF Author versions can still be opened The protection of PDF documents preventing creating screenshots does not work, if the 'Protected mode' (sandboxing) of Adobe Reader is enabled. With SmartShelter PDF 11 the required minimum Mac OS X version installed changes to Version Older versions are no longer supported. s FB20811: In future, CodeMeter licenses can be permanently allocated locally and on the network. An option in the graphical user interface allows to define the type of license access selecting parameter. The Windows command line tool is extended by this feature. FB20491: In the command line program on Windows now parameter of the options "-i" and "-o" can now be transferred using usual double quotes. If uninstalling problems occur, in particular if you updated or uninstalled Acrobat or Adobe Reader in the meantime. Please follow the instructions you find in the user or developer FAQ area of the Wibu-Systems website (FB18886, FB18891). FB14003: The parameter "StartAcrobat" of the command line tool has been improved. If the parameter "startacrobat" is not stated, Acrobat will not be started. However, if you state "startacrobat" a check for a a running Acrobat is performed and Acrobat starts if needed. FB14570: In group "Permissions/Compatibility" of tab "Encryption settings in the Security dialog the activated option "Process check" was not checked on reopening. FB17409: On tab "Encryption settings in the Security dialog the label " Map" was replaced by " Code". FB17383: When using Adobe Reader 10 not permitted screenshot processes were not detected. SmartShelter PDF 6.00 Release Date: 2011-Jun-09 s SmartShelter PDF now protects documents using more than a single Firm Code/Product Code (User Code) combination SmartShelter PDF by adding more licensing systems features document encryption applying any number of Firm Code / Product Code (User Code) combinations of several licensing systems. In this process existing Firm Codes, Product Codes, User Codes, Maps, and algorithm versions are saved, and the list of Firm Codes and Product Codes are included in the encryption (FB10074, FB13256). SmartShelter PDF now supports exception handling on Windows using a User Message DLL SmartShelter PDF features to use an individual User Message DLL to display other error messages than the default messages. Error Messages of the Command Line Tool "SmashPdfCmd" for Batch Processing on Windows have been improved (FB10943). FB13572: The Adobe password dialog does not display any longer if the document cannot be decrypted. In this process the setting "DontShowDefaultPwdDlg" in the SmashPdf.ini file was set to 1. This setting is applied only for new encrypted documents. For restoring the previous behaviour the setting in the SmashPdf.ini file has to be restored and requires restarting Acrobat. FB12101: Character errors in the Japanese localization displayed. FB13583: Coding of CodeMeter error messages was incorrect. FB13571: If a Unit Counter fell short on opening a protected document a matching error message was missing. Support of Map, Activation Time, Expiration Time and Usage Period. A debugger check can be activated. That means protected documents are closed if a debugger is attached to Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader. Network access of licenses is supported. Extended screenshot protection. Protected documents are closed if a forbidden program (process) is running. Author A new command line tool SmashPdfCmd allows the protection of documents within a script. If a protected document is opened and changed you can now save the changes with Acrobat in the document.
