Fade-In & Fade-Out Effects - To use this feature, you need to check the box of Fade-In & Fade-Out and adjust the duration of each one of them respectively. iii. Project Editing Once you have all the materials added to Voilabits PhotoSlideshowMaker, you need to properly edit that project so that the slideshows would be exactly what you like them to be. In this section, you will learn how to do that perfectly. 1. Placement Sometimes you may need to reposition certain images and audios added to the tracks, please make sure it is in scenes mode, and select one of them at a time and then drag it to the spot where you want it to be. 2. Photo & Audio Editing At this point, if you find some of your added photos or audios need to be edited, please do it in the way suggested in the Photo Editing section and Audio Editing section. 11
To alter the duration of an added photo, in the scenes mode you can adjust the timer underneath that photo s thumbnail; in the timeline mode then you can do that by dragging that finishing line at the end of that very slide. If you need to do the same to an added audio file, please make sure the tracks are in the timeline mode, and then drag that file s starting and finishing line to make the adjustments (Please keep it in mind that the duration of any given audio file can only be no longer than that file s actual maximum length). Figure 10. Duration Alteration in Scenes Mode Figure 11. Duration Alteration in Timeline Mode 3. Transitions To have transitions between different pictures, please expand the Effects tab and choose the sublist Transitions, and all the transitions available in this app would be displayed on the Media Manager. After that, you need to pick the one you like and drag it to the spot where you want it to be. If you want to change the duration of an added transition, in the scenes mode you can just reset the timer beneath that transition s thumbnail, or in the timeline mode drag the finishing line and the line before it. 12
Figure 12. Transition Duration Alteration in Scenes Mode Figure 13. Transition Duration Alteration in Timeline Mode 4. Change Slideshow s Thumbnail Cover & Name If you think a slideshow s default thumbnail cover needs to be changed, you can just double click the picture on that slideshow s tablet and a window with all the pictures in it would pop out, in which you then can pick a different one to be the new thumbnail cover. Please remember that the thumbnail of each slideshow would appear on the DVD menu if you choose to copy your work to a DVD. If you feel like giving a new name to a slideshow, you can double click that very slideshow s name on the tablet ad then type in the new one. 5. Preview Before getting a slideshow published, you might want to preview it to figure out whether there are problems about the project in terms of various aspects like synchronization. To do that, please move the Time Marker on the Timeline to the place where you want it to start, and then click the Play. 13
6. Multiple Slideshows In every project, Voilabits PhotoSlideshowMaker automatically creates one slideshow for you by default, but you still can make some more yourself. To do that, you just need to click the next to the slideshow s tablet, and a new one would be created. If you, however, want to take out a slideshow, you just need to click the cross on that very slideshow s tablet, and it would be gone. 7. Save An Unfinished Project In some cases, you might be unable to finish editing a project once because there are too much to work on, and therefore want to save it and pick it up from where you left. In Voilabits PhotoSlideshowMaker you can totally save an incomplete project by clicking the File tab on the menubar and choosing Save from the list. To open an existed project, you first need to double click the app s icon and a window would show up. In that window, please click Open An Existed Project and find that project you want to resume editing upon. In some cases, the existed project might also appear in the Recent Projects section, and you can open it by double clicking it. 14
V. VIDEO & DVD PUBLISHING Once the slideshow is properly edited, you then need to export it. In Voilabits PhotoSlideshowMaker, there are two options available - export slideshows as videos or burn them to a DVD. i. Video Publishing If you want to make a video, please click the one underneath would show up., and then the corresponding settings panel like Figure 14: Video Settings a. Choose An Output Format: You first need to highlight those items that you want to convert first, and then go to Output Format tab where appears a list from which you can pick a given format that you want. 15
b. Specifics Settings: Output Format: By clicking on this tab, you can get it activated that the list from which you pick output format. Video Quality: It can quite quickly and conveniently help you set a video quality standard for files generated without going through all the specifics. Video Codec: Generally, it has been pre-set by the developers who thoroughly and seriously considered users needs; thus it works pretty well in terms of both quality and speed. Video Resolution: It specifically relates to the output video s resolution. It is not quite advisable to set it to a exceedingly high standard unless you truly have to for some reasons, since the files generated can be ridiculously huge and the converting process can be more time-consuming. Video Bitrate: Video bitrate specifies the amount of information stored in the video. The higher bitrate you choose, the clearer output videos would be. This very setting normally depends on selected resolution, and it would be better to leave it auto. If you must need to make videos generated clearer, you can always try to increase the figure. Video Frame Rate: The framerate determines how fast video frame refreshes. For videos of lots of intense moving actions, you probably need a higher framerate to combat jerkiness. The default value suffices in most cases. Audio Quality: It can quite quickly and conveniently help you set an audio quality standard for files generated without going through all the specifics. Audio Codec: Generally, the default setting for each format has been set by the program. In most cases, the pre-set codec works very well in terms of both quality and speed. 16
Audio Bitrate: The audio bitrate determines the amount of information stored in an audio file. A higher bitrate considerably contributes to a better audio quality; yet, the file s size, on the other hand, usually tends to get bigger accordingly. Audio Sample Rate: The audio sample rate determines the resolution of audio files. The higher sampling rate is, the clearer audio file would be. However, like what was mentioned above, its size increases accordingly as well. Audio Channel: You can use either 1 (mono) or 2 (Stereo) effect. The latter one is pre-set. c. Set Up the Directory The Export to tab allows you to choose the place to which the videos created to be exported. Tap on it and you can make the change in the new window pops out. d. Start the Creation When you are done with setting the specifics and output directory, please click to start video creation. Click to abort the process if you feel like editing the slideshows some more. ii. DVD Publishing a. Make Your DVD Menu Shows with menus always seem professional and well organized, enabling spectators to find what they want to view quickly and accurately. Voilabits PhotoSlideshowMaker presents you with a fine chance to make one of that of your own. 17
Choose a Default Template 1. Once you have everything set, please click first and then the on the right upper corner in the new window pops out. 2. Select a proper aspect ratio for the menu of output DVD. Both 4:3 and 16:9 are available in this app. Note: Please choose the aspect ratio amenable to its counterpart of the television or computer, otherwise there would be black bars. 3. Choose a template from the list. Tip: If the number of imported videos exceeds the vacant spots of the chosen template, those extra ones will be displayed on the next page. To browse different pages, please click the arrows on the left lower corner. Customize Chosen Template (optional) 1. Click on the right upper corner. 2. To have a different background picture, you need to pick Background from the drop-down list underneath that Elements tab, and then pick one from the column beneath. 3. If you find the preset frames do not agree with the background and seek to use different frames, just pick Frames from the drop-down list underneath that Elements tab, and then pick one from the column beneath. 4. If you wish more clips to be displayed on one page of the menu, please click to move the very first video on the next page to this one, and then you can relocate it to right spot (Please keep it in mind that the number of videos displayed on one page can only be as big as ten). 5. To apply a different set of buttons, you need to pick Buttons from the drop-down list underneath that Elements tab, and then choose the one from the column beneath. 18
6. You are also able to relocate the videos and buttons by dragging them to the places where you want them to be. 7. If you deem a given menu page overstocked with videos, you can remove some of them from that page by click delete on the keyboard, and those would be relocated to the next page. 8. The titles of menus and loaded clips are rewritable. Double-click one and a window will show up right underneath it in which you can pick a different color and font. If you want the color and font you fixed on one title applied to every one of them on the current page, you can click the Apply to all to see that accomplished. 9. Audio files also can be added to this app and used as background music. Just click the folder abuts the Background Music tab and pick one for the presented page. b. DVD Settings At this point, you are very close to completing the entire task; a few more clicks and you will be good to go. In this section, you will learn how to set detailed information for your DVDs. Figure 15: DVD Settings 19
1. Choose the Output File In this settings window, you can choose whether to export the project to a DVD, a folder, or just as an ISO file. 2. Set the Information In the middle section, you need to set the information for the output file. If you choose the DVD Disc, you need to set the name and to which DVD it should be burnt (assuming you have multiple optical disc drives); if you want to export the content to a folder, you just need to specify the directory; if a ISO file is what you want this app to export, you then should pick a name and specify the directory for that file. 3. Other Settings To make the output file properly work on your device, you also need to pick out the DVD language, TV standard, aspect ratio, audio codec, and burn speed in the final section. Note: Please choose a TV standard comply with that of the country or territory in which the DVD will be play, otherwise, it would not work. 4. Start DVD Creation When you have completed all steps mentioned above, please click the DVD burning. to start the 20
