1 LifeSavers Training Center Members, If the LifeSavers icon above looks familiar you have visited my website in the last few months. Yes, we have done a website make-over. You are now able to access all areas of the website with tablets and mobile devices. All the information you will need as an aligned Training Center member is now posted under (T.C. Members only) The 2013 forms will be posted on the website on the (T.C. Members only page) the last week in December. Please be sure to discard all 2012 forms at that time. We are so close to being paper free. I thank all of you that us your Rosters and Evaluations after each class. Reminder: Please fill in the Subject line your name, type of course taught and date of course (i.e. Andy Anderson, BLS, ) All AHA CPR courses must teach AED (Automated External Defibrillator). There is no such course as just CPR. Each Instructor must have a working AED trainer in the classroom with participants having hands on training using it. It is not enough to just show the DVD portion or hold up a real AED.

Please assure you fill it out carefully and completely. We have had some unfortunate errors which have led to useless cards.

(There are several versions of this exam depending on what module you are teaching all exams come from your Training Center LifeSavers) These exams were ed to you when they were released. These exams are mandatory for all Healthcare Providers and they must be scored and recorded. Please assure you record the score in a % version on the Roster. Answer sheets should then be discarded do not send them to LifeSavers. Assure you are only using versions C and D. (Please refer to the paperwork protocol sheet posted on T.C. Members only page) You will find a new Card Processing Form on the website. Please assure you fill it out carefully and completely. We have had some unfortunate errors which have led to useless cards. As a reminder, all AHA training centers have a 30 day turn around (soon to be a 20 day turn around period). We do our best to get them to you as soon as possible, but we must process them in the order they are received in our office. You will find that participants often lose their certification cards. It is the responsibility of the Instructor to replace the card for the participant. Assure you check your rosters and confirm the participant successfully completed the course before you reissue the card. Also, the average replacement cost is $5 - $10 per card. I ask the participant to send me a self-addressed envelope with a note with correct spelling of name and date of course, along with the payment.

3 HEADER SUBHEAD HERE LifeSavers had their Training Center Review on with Sandra O Doherty. During this review/audit, we complete a packet of over 110 questions. I am very proud to announce that LifeSavers passed with a score of 109 of 110 areas. (This is NOT a given, in the past year - 3 training centers were closed due to noncompliance.) So, when I am requesting paperwork to be completed in a specific way, I am mandated to do so. During the review, Sandra expressed concern over the lack of number of student manuals that are being ordered and given out at courses. In the past, companies were allowed to library manuals this is not AHA policy. I have told you in the past that we could do this and AHA will not tolerate it any longer. They are now checking numbers at the distributors (Channing Bete, WorldPoint, and Leardal) to assure that there is a manual purchased for each certification card. It is policy that each participant has a manual available before, during and after each AHA course. I expressed concern over the cost of mailing manuals out through the mail. Sandra suggested that you mandate your participants to come to the class 30 minutes prior to start time to review the manual. If the participant has a current AHA manual from the last course they took, they may use that manual. This is nationwide and all AHA Training Centers are mandated to enforce this. (I realize many of you have always given each participant a student manual I commend you for that and this will not affect you.) This will definitely affect your training budget, so Sandra has preapproved me to allow you a 90 day period to get this in place. Therefore, effective, this must be enforced. AHA made this announcement on (Increase effective ) We understand that increasing costs have an impact on the AHA Training Network, and we strive to absorb as much of our rising costs as possible to minimize the impact on you. We are committed to providing you information as early as possible in the process, and hope that this notice gives you time to prepare and adjust budgets accordingly. The American Heart Association In my meeting with Sandra, she expressed an extreme disappointment that Corporate did not give at least a 90 day notice about the price increase, but does not for see that effective date changing. This price increase is effective Therefore, the card price will change from $ 4.00 to $5.00. It is in your best interest to place a card request prior to All BLS cards after will be $5.00 each. I anticipate large card orders prior to , if you know you are going to order, please me ASAP the proposed number you are ordering so I can assure I have the cards to process your orders. Reminder payment is due at the time of the order. Sandra also shared that LifeSavers has one of the lowest card prices of the Training Centers she oversees in her 3 state region.

When it is time for Instructors to renew their Instructor card your monitoring may be completed by a TCF or me.

4 Please review the Instructor Renewal Process posted on the website. Plan ahead for your renewal at least 2 months before due date. LifeSavers has 11 wonderful faculty members that fulfill leadership roles in training. You will soon (2013) see their photos posted on the website. When it is time for Instructors to renew their Instructor card your monitoring may be completed by a TCF or me. I thank each and every one of my hand picked TCF for their commitment of going that extra mile. If you are receiving this Newsletter, you have successfully registered on the Instructor Network with LifeSavers as your Training Center. If you change your address, please be sure to update it on the site as it is used to send out all announcements and Newsletters. Also, to assure your status remains active, please sign on to the IN and review your Dashboard (your specific information) at least quarterly. We are playing around with the idea of having a LifeSavers List area on our website for Selling and Seeking things like equipment, manuals, and Instructors. Please let us know if you would be in favor of it. Just send me a quick if you like the idea. If we have more than 20 people in favor - we will do it! LifeSavers Training Center trained over 16,000 people in CPR/AED and First Aid in 2012! That is so amazing! Please just stop for one moment and think about what that means... Whether you trained 10 people or 1,000 people you made a difference in someone s competence and confidence & that is priceless.

www.website.com Many of you know that my family had a huge scare with my husband s health this last summer and fall.

They are confident that they got all the cancer and he is getting stronger every day. We are hopeful he will be returning back to work after Christmas and life will soon return to normalcy.

5 Many of you know that my family had a huge scare with my husband s health this last summer and fall. He was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer and also needed surgery for his Crohn s Disease. He had an 8 hour surgery at the Mayo the end of October and is now on the mend. They are confident that they got all the cancer and he is getting stronger every day. We are hopeful he will be returning back to work after Christmas and life will soon return to normalcy. I just wanted to take a moment and ask you to appreciate what you have (family, friends, and health). We so often take all these things for granted I know I did until I realized how easily it can all go away at a moment s notice. So during this time of Holiday hustle, bustle and when stress is high do your best to think about what really matters and know everything else will fall into place.
