University of Copenhagen Very popular program limited applications Independent Program There are a lot of requirements that YOU need to take care of. You will be required to read and follow detailed instructions. Your UCEAP Network is here to help you, but you need to take initiative and do a lot of things on your own. You will learn and grow through this process, and in the end you will experience a great feeling of accomplishment!

14 UCPH Admission Letter and UCEAP Participation Letter Once accepted, you will receive notification directly from the UCPH admission team. The will include your UCPH Admission Letter. o This letter will include detailed instructions for registering for your courses, along with a lot of other useful information. o Forward this to Hannah and Kitty. We will send your UCEAP Participation Letter via o This serves as proof of full time enrollment and proof of insurance while you are abroad. SAVE THESE S! You WILL need to refer back to them.

15 Danish Student Residence Permit The application form (ST1) for a Residence Permit will be sent via after your acceptance. o Part 1 - has been completed by the UCPH admission team. o Part 2 is to be completed by you. Review the instructions now to prepare. o There are several steps and some items need advance preparation. o Bank Letter must have student s name on it o Sample Visa Letter from Financial Aid Office Start the residence permit process as soon as you have received your UCPH acceptance! o Read ALL the instructions first!

16 Danish Student Residence Permit Case Processing Fee o Follow the instructions in your PDC as you complete this step! We have provided detailed instructions and a screenshot. o Remember to print your receipt! o Submit your receipt to Hannah (via )

17 Housing The UCPH Housing Foundation application process is extremely complicated! Housing Webinar in October o Katrine Samson-Heller, our Program Coordinator at the UC Study Center in Copenhagen, will host a housing webinar to explain the process. o The webinar will include a Copenhagen Orientation o All students are required to attend the webinar.

18 Housing Deposit and Payments o Large payments ($3000-$6000)will be due in late November/early December. o Students receiving Financial Aid must also make these payments on time! Financial Aid will not be disbursed by this time. o Plan ahead for this, as there are no exceptions. Housing Information and Application o Review the UCPH website o Read the Booking Manual

19 UCEAP Health Clearance The Health Clearance is a requirement for all UCEAP students. o You will NOT study abroad if your health clearance is not received in the UCEAP Systemwide Office by the deadline given in the PDC! Read the instructions NOW! o There is a link for instructions for each individual campus. o The process can take quite a while to complete especially if you have ANY health issues, past or present. Start the process NOW! o Read your campus requirements and get prepared.

21 Arrival Information and Travel Itinerary Form Once the program start date is confirmed, the Arrival Information will be updated. Read the Arrival Information carefully PRIOR to booking your flight. Late arrivals are NOT allowed! You will be required to rebook your flight if necessary After booking your flight you will submit an online Travel Itinerary Form.

22 UCPH Online Application All students attending the webinar will be nominated to UCPH today. o All other students must watch the entire video recording of this webinar before being nominated to UCPH. You will receive an invitation with instructions to complete the UCPH online application. o Check your spam and junk folders. o Let UCEAP know if you do not receive your invitation by Wednesday, August 15. (For those attending the webinar) o Do not delay starting your UCPH application after reading all instructions!

23 UCPH Online Application Read through the application instructions in your PDC carefully! If you are a European Union/Nordic dual citizen, select your EU or Nordic citizenship on the application Official transcripts are NOT required, as long as your full name and university name are printed on them. Before completing your application you need to decide which departments you want to apply to.

28 UCPH Online Application Which department should I select? o The one that is closest to your MAJOR and for which you have a strong background. You WILL NOT be accepted into a department if you have not taken many courses in that field. How many departments should I select? o Two departments MAX! Your application will be sent to each department for approval. If you apply to many departments your acceptance could take 8 weeks or more! What about GE/Breadth courses? o Students typically take Danish Culture Courses to satisfy GE/breadth requirements, you do not need to apply to this department on your application, these courses are open to all exchange students.

29 UCPH Courses Requirements: o Intensive Language Program o Spring Semester ECTS (2-4 courses) o ILP units DO NOT COUNT towards spring semester requirements Courses at UCPH are usually worth more credits than at your UC campus. Therefore you are likely to only take between 2 4 courses for the full semester. Course registration takes place after admission but before your arrival.

30 You can take courses at the Master level if you have the appropriate background o o o o Only in your major! Upper-division undergraduate credit. Remember that this is advanced level coursework that will be very challenging! Do not enroll in ALL Master level courses Research o You can contact professors prior to departure if you are interested in doing research, most research opportunities are secured once you are onsite. Internships o UCPH Courses You will need to find internship placements on your own. Work with the study center once you have found a placement to see if you can receive credit.

31 Major-Specific Advice If you major in one of the following fields, UCEAP recommends that you only enroll in one major-specific course per semester or block: o Economics o Biology (primarily for courses with a strong Chemistry focus) o Public Health Important! Psychology courses are graded on a P/NP basis only!

32 UCPH Exams/Grades Assessment is usually one final exam No Re-sits! Your initial exam is your final exam Grades- late August or early September- do not file to graduate in spring!
