1 Step 1 of 6: Register to use the check, challenge, appeal service A. To start the process, visit: B. Select the organisation option. Click Register Now
2 First Name C. Address Enter your own name and address. Do not enter your business name. D. Print off your user ID or make a note, you will need this number to log onto your dashboard. Make a note of these details or select the print option to save a pdf version to your computer. You will need these details to login in the future.
3 Step 2 of 6: Verify your identity You will need your National Insurance number and date of birth for this section. This is standard information required by the Government Gateway for authentication purposes and isn t passed on to the Valuation Office or us. A. Enter your personal and Business details in required boxes shown on this page. B. Select No C. Enter your Date of Birth in the format shown D. Click save and continue
4 Step 3 of 6: Confirm who you are A. You can identify yourself using your payslip, P60 or UK Passport details. If you wish to use a passport please go to Option 1, If you wish to use a payslip go to Option 2, if you wish to use a p60 go to Option 3. B. Select the option you wish to use
5 Option 1 C. Select Yes. D. Enter your personal details in all of the boxes shown on this page.

7 I. Click Manage properties. Step 4 of 6: Add your properties A. Click Add property. If you are returning to this section to add additional properties note that it may take several hours for previously added properties to show on the system. B. Select Advanced. You can find your local authority reference number on your rates bill. C. Select Local authority reference and then enter the local authority reference number in the box below and click Search.
8 D. Your property will be displayed. Click Claim this Property 9th Flr, Oakland House, Talbot Road, Manchester, M16 0PQ E. Complete this section with the information relevant to your circumstances and then select Add property. Step 5 of 6: Verifying your property A. If you have a copy of your business rates bill then select I have a business rates bill and click Continue. If you are using an alternative document to verify your property then select I don t have a business rates bill. You need to verify your property by uploading a document that links you to the property. Ideally we recommend that you have a scanned copy of your business rates bill saved to your computer for this section. If you do not have a business rates bill then alternatively you can use a copy of a water rates demand or a utility bill.
9 B. Click Choose a file to upload and navigate to the document you are using to verify your property and upload. Once you have uploaded the rates bill click Confirm. C. Tick the box to agree the declaration and click Continue.
10 D. Click Manage properties to start the process of authorising Altus Group to deal with your challenge. We ve received your request to add 9TH FLR, OAKLAND HOUSE, TALBOT ROAD, MANCHESTER, M16 0PQ to your businesses customer record Your submission ID is PL8DZ To add more than one property click on Add another property and repeat steps 4 and 5. Step 6 of 6: Authorise Altus Group as your agent A. Select Appoint an agent
11 C. Enter the Altus Group agent code D. Click Yes to submit checks E. Click Yes to submit challenges F. Click Continue G. Click Continue H. 12 You have successfully registered your properties. You can now visit your home screen when you log in to see a list of your properties.
