6 6 WilComm Message List 1 Message List Overview The up-to-date status for all print, fax, file and messaging tasks submitted to WilComm is available by running the WilComm Message List program from the WilComm Server. The Message List provides the central tracking and progress monitoring for all messages being processed through the WilComm system. It gives users control and management of their jobs. The current status of any WilComm job may be checked. Jobs may be re-submitted and addressing corrections made. The various elements of the Message List are explained below. When the Message List is started, the user is presented with summary information for each job submitted. Three successively more detailed "levels" of message information are accessed by double clicking on the relevant entry. An example of the initial "highest" level is shown below. Notice that most of the jobs here have been serviced by more than one service. This is indicated by the term Multiple followed by which services where applied. In the screen below (Message List - Level 1) P/F/M represents Print, Fax and Mail respectively. Message List - Level Sequencing of Listed Items Click on any column heading to re-arrange the displayed items in the sequence of entries within that column. E.g. click on the "Status" heading to bring all "Completed", etc messages together. A further click reverses the sequence, so a toggle between ascending and descending is made.

Filter by Status: And select the Service you'd like to view: All, Fax, , Print, File: Refresh F5Refreshes the list Go Up One Level For each message, there are four levels available. If you're at levels 2-4, click this to view higher level. See Drilling Down for more information Tools Options... Interval to refresh the display of messages. You can also temporarily pause the refreshing of the list by ticking the check box.

8 8 WilComm Message List Help About Displays this message box: 1.3 Individual Messages Right-clicking on a message allows selection of: Properties When Properties is selected, a panel such as that shown below appears.

9 Message List 9 Transaction File Properties When the View File button is clicked, the raw text of the input file is displayed via Notepad or other ASCII editor, as shown below. Transaction File Delete The Delete option allows you to delete entries. Note that you can only delete entries that are in a Ready state. 1.4 Drilling Down for more information When more detail is required about a particular message, double click on it. When this is done on message BARNY02502 in the example Message List, the screen shown here, known as the Level 2 or Services screen, is displayed:

10 10 WilComm Message List Message List - Level 2 The number of jobs generated for each service is shown. If the one input file has been "distributed" by more than one Section in the Distribution Wizard, each job is listed here. E.g. if a single input file was printed on three different printers, and also sent off by fax and , such a message would have appeared above as: Message List - Multiple Jobs To drill down for more detail, double-click on the desired service. The Level 3 Jobs screen appears: Message List - Level 3 Additional details are made available such as printer name, the job reference name, current status, date-time stamp, together with the name of the Distribution Wizard section which processed it (this is displayed under the Description column).

11 Message List 11 For an task, this level will display the address used. For a fax job, it will show the fax number used, as shown here. Message List - Fax Job Right clicking on a particular line will allow selection of: 1. Properties 2. ReSend 3. Delete When Properties is selected for an job, a panel such as that shown below appears. Notice that there are two more tabs, and Attachments that provide further information on the job. Job Properties For a Fax job, the Properties panel will appear as shown in Fax Job Properties. Notice there are three other tabs, Fax, Text and Attachments.

12 12 WilComm Message List Fax Job Properties And in the case of a Print job, you will get a Properties information display similar to that shown in Figure 39 : Print Job Properties. In this case there are two other tabs Spooling and Print Back. Print Job Properties If ReSend is selected, the panel shown below appears. (The example shown is for a fax. The same facility is provided to Re-send s and to Re-Print print jobs.) It allows a different address to be entered. This ReSend facility creates a new (additional) outgoing message for the newly addressed message:

13 Message List 13 ReSending This ReSend option can also be used to send another copy of the message to the original address, simply by not altering the address. This can be handy if the person at the other end loses the fax, or if an extra copy of a print job is required, etc. If Delete is selected, you will be asked to confirm the deletion. To drill down to the final detail level (Level 4 - Pages), double-click on the job s entry. Message List - Level 4 The status for each page in the job is shown, as is the name of the Form used for the forms merge process.
