1 Scottish Care Information SCI Gateway 12 Newsletter The purpose of this newsletter is to highlight the changes to SCI Gateway that occur in version 12. The major changes are listed on page 2 & 3 What s New in SCI Gateway 12 and further details are provided on subsequent pages where appropriate.
2 What s new in SCI Gateway 12 1 Make Referral Button Renamed and New Destination type Once you have selected your destination options you click on the Create button, which replaces the previously named Make Referral button To provide wider flexibility when sending messages between primary and secondary care, an additional destination option is available 2 Priority ordering of messages Messages with a priority of urgent or soon will now be displayed at the top of the worklist. A new column will be added and the urgency of the message will be identified by the use of exclamation marks 3 Bulk Printing TIF, JPEG, BITMAP and GIF attachments It will now be possible for receiving locations to bulk print additional types of attachments including Docman files
3 4 Spell Checker A Spell Checker has been added to SCI Gateway. This will allow you to spell check certain parts of your messages 5 6 Stylesheet versioning It will now be possible to have different versions of Stylesheets for the same type of letter in SCI Gateway. This will allow health board areas to have Stylesheets which suit their own needs and allow storage of historical stylesheets Any Messages SCI Gateway is capable of sending different types of messages. Proposals for new message types should be directed to the Steering Group in the first instance New message type coming soon
4 Make Referral Button Renamed and New Destination type Make Referral Button Renamed The Create button replaces the previously named Make Referral button at the bottom of the New Referral window. The button has been renamed so that SCI Gateway can be used to generate a variety of message types in the future. Select destination options for your message and click on Create New destination type This facility has been added so that GPs and hospitals can send different message types to a greater number and type of location than previously. When selecting the destination options for your messages you will find that there is an additional field. This field allows you to select either a GP practice or non-gp location/provider destination type for your message. After selecting your health board area, select the required option for destination type. Destination Types Health Board GP Practices choose this option if you want to send your message to a GP. Health Board Non-GP Locations/Providers choose this option if you want to send your message to an acute hospital, clinic or allied health professional eg dietician.
5 Priority Ordering of Messages In previous versions of SCI Gateway the worklist by default displayed messages in date and time order. This will still be the case in version 12, however urgent and soon messages will take precedence in the worklist. Urgent and Soon messages will be displayed higher in the new messages worklist than routine messages sent earlier and will be highlighted by the use of a new column and icons. Urgent and Soon messages displayed higher in the worklist than most recent Most recent message Two exclamations denote Urgent, one exclamation denotes soon and a blank denotes routine.
6 Ordering the worklist Once you have printed or viewed your new messages they are moved to the Messages worklist. The usual order of date and time will be the default. You will have the option to filter or order the worklist to suit your needs. 1 From the Home screen point to Messages and click on Referral Click here to open the Referrals worklist 2 Click on the icon to select an option Click here to Filter/Order the worklist 3 Select the option required to either filter or order the worklist Select option required Order by priority This option will reorder the worklist to show urgent and soon priority messages at the top. Filter by priority This option allows you to filter the worklist to show only Urgent, Soon or Routine messages depending on the option selected. Clear Filters This option allows you to clear any filter you have applied and display the full worklist.
7 Bulk Printing Tiff, Jpeg, Bitmap and Gif attachments In version 12 all of these files types will be able to be printed automatically with their message using the bulk print option. Previously these types of files could only be printed manually. Click her to bulk print messages Select the required option from the drop down list Ensure Print attachments is ticked and click on Print If users sending messages attempt to upload an attachment greater than 2 megabytes the following message will be displayed.
8 Bulk Printing Confirmation Sheet When you use the bulk print option you will now receive a final print sheet itemising the messages that you have just printed. It will also itemise number and type of attachments associated with the message. Pictured below is an example of a confirmation sheet. Attachments and file type itemised here below the name of patient When there are no attachments
9 Spell Checker Prior to sending, messages can be spell checked for accuracy. Click on the ABC icon to spell check the associated field. Alternatively click here to spell check all fields in the protocol that have been configured for spell checking The spell checker is displayed with the first incorrect item highlighted. Click in the drop down list to view other suggestions see next page for more details Click on Change to accept the change offered The spell checker will continue to go through the document highlighting each error until it is complete and the following message will be displayed. Click here to close
10 The following message will be displayed if you have added a new word to the user dictionary. Click here to view Options (see user guide) Click here to save new words and close the Spell Check If you click on the Close icon to close the Spell Check after adding a word to the user dictionary the following message box will be displayed: Click on Cancel to return to the previous window and save the changes If you select OK any words you have added to the user dictionary will be lost.
11 Spell checker Options Suggestions When you click on the drop down list there will be other suggestions available. The suggestion displayed is offered as the mostly likely solution to an incorrect spelling. You may select any other suggestion offered in the list. Options When you select this option the spell checker offers a number of word formats that you might want the checker to ignore - words that are all capitals, words which contain numbers eg post codes. Ignore When you select this option the spell checker will ignore this instance of the word in this message. Ignore All When you select this option the spell checker will ignore all instances of the word in this message Change When you select this option the spell checker will change the word highlighted to the suggestion it has offered. Change All When you select this option the spell checker will change all instances of the word highlighted to the suggestion it has offered. Add When you select this option the spell checker will add the word highlighted to your own user dictionary so that it s recognised from that point. It is important when adding words to your dictionary to use the Save button to complete the process. Close When you select this option it closes the spell checker. The Spell checker will only check the parts of messages that are detailed by the protocol. If unsure what is checked please contact your system administrator.
