4 Introducing self-service product downloads This guide explains how to use the Digital Software Delivery utility to download the Pega products that your company is licensed to use. With Digital Software Delivery, you no longer need to submit a Media Request to Pegasystems Global Customer Support (GCS). You can also download Personal Edition using the utility. The products available for you to download are the ones that your company is licensed to use under your company s Pegasystems license agreement. Your company affiliation with Pegasystems determines which Pega products you see in the product catalog. (Exception: Pega business partners and Pega employees see all Pega products in the catalog.) When you request Pega product software, the system knows, and auto-selects for you, any prerequisite product that might be needed. You do not have to be concerned with knowing which prerequisite products you might need. The example in this guide illustrates this feature. Pega Digital Software Delivery User Guide 1
5 Prerequisites Before you use Digital Software Delivery, be certain that you have met the following requirements: You have a Pega Discovery Network (PDN) account. A PDN account is, in effect, a Pega account. If you need a Pega account, register at You hold a Support Contact user role with permission to Request or download Pega products. If you need a Support Contact role assignment, contact your company s Pega Support Contact Administrator. See the Support Contact Administrator Guide. Specifying your Company Affiliation On the PDN, go to the Digital Software Delivery page, See the Company Affiliation field at the top right of the page. You can keep or change the default value displayed in this field either before you click New Request or after you click New Request in the Download and Upgrade Licensed Software widget. If you are affiliated with more than one company account for Pegasystems, you can choose other values from the selection list. Company Affiliation for Pega business partners and Pega employees Pega business partners can be affiliated with more than one company. If you are a Pega business partner, the Company Affiliation selection list shows you all of the companies that you are affiliated with. Pega Digital Software Delivery User Guide 2
6 Best Practice Pega business partners and resellers requesting software on behalf of another organization should select that organization when creating a product software request. If you are a Pega employee, the Company Affiliation selection list typically displays Pegasystems. Here is an example of a Pega employee with two Company Affiliations: If you are a Pega business partner or Pega employee, you see all Pega products in the Digital Software Delivery catalog regardless of your company or company organization affiliation. Submitting a New Request First, you select the product or products you want from the product catalog and create an order, your New Request. You can order a maximum of five (5) products in one request. To order additional products, create another New Request. 1. In the widget labeled Download and Upgrade Licensed Software, click New Request. If you changed the value displayed in the Company Affiliation field when you initially navigated to the Digital Software Delivery page, you see the button Continue Request. Click that button and go to Step If you are affiliated with more than one company or organization within a company, you are prompted to keep or change the default value displayed for Pega Digital Software Delivery User Guide 3
7 your Company Affiliation: Select the company affiliation for your new request. 3. Click Continue to see the catalog of Pega products that are licensed to your company. From the product catalog, you can browse or search for the Pega product or products that you want to download. If you think that the product you want requires a foundation product, do not be concerned about this dependency. The system detects any prerequisite products that might be needed for the products that you explicitly request. You can select a maximum of five (5) products in one request, excluding prerequisite products that the system detects. If you need to request more than five (5) products, create another request. 4. Browse the product tiles and see the product icons change to shopping cart icons as you hover your mouse pointer over each icon. Pega Digital Software Delivery User Guide 4
8 5. Search by typing the product name in the Search field or filtering by product category, or both: Type ahead displays the selection list of products. Pega Digital Software Delivery User Guide 5
9 To filter your search, select the name of the product family. Pega Digital Software Delivery User Guide 6
10 To start your search over, click Clear search and filters. 6. If you do not find the product you need by browsing or searching the product catalog, click Enter a media request to go to My Support Portal. You can create a Support Request of Service Type Media Request. 7. To add a browsed or searched for product to your shopping cart, click a product tile. The shopping cart icon on the product tile changes to a checkmark. Pega Digital Software Delivery User Guide 7
11 The shopping cart icon above the product catalog indicates the number of products currently selected for the request. 8. After you click Continue, confirm the information shown for the product that you selected and added to your shopping cart: Product name Version Number Version ID (the Agile Studio Release Number, RLS) Release Date Part Number Pega Digital Software Delivery User Guide 8
12 The following image shows an example. 9. To change your product selection, click Back. You can remove the product selection and add other products to your shopping cart. 10. To save your product selections, click Save. 11. When you are done with your request, click Finish. The system confirms the items in your request. 13 Notice that the system added the required foundation product and Pega Platform to the request. 12. Watch for an notification listing the products in your request and displaying your Download link. The notice lists the prerequisite products needed to run the products you explicitly requested. If you need help, click the link to the Software Delivery Support team. 15 Downloading your Pega product When you receive the Download notice, click the Download link to go to the PDN page, Pega Licensed Software Downloads. Read this page to learn the details of the Licensed Software Request and Download Process. After your order is approved, your licensed software will be available under My Downloads. Working with My Downloads The list of products available for you to download expires after thirty (30) days. 1. Depending on your context, you can download your product software from one of two PDN pages: On Pega Licensed Software Downloads, under My Downloads, click Download software. On Digital Software Delivery, click My Downloads. 2. See the Inbox of Pega software products that you requested for download listed in a table. The default view lists the software packages. 16 3. If you want to delete the contents of the Inbox, click Delete. The Inbox contents move to the folder labeled Deleted Packages. 4. If you want to view the software product files, click View > Files. The Inbox displays the software products as ZIP files. The Delete icon changes to Download. 5. Using the check boxes in the table, select one or more, or all, software package ZIP files and click Download. 6. Confirm that your selection from Step 5 is listed in the Files Details window. 17 7. Choose to Open or Save the Pega product Zip file. 8. In the opened ZIP file, find the README.txt and the StartHere.html files and begin your Pega product installation using these files. Pega Digital Software Delivery User Guide 14
18 Getting Personal Edition Your Personal Edition download is always available: It never expires. 1. On the Digital Software Delivery page, the Get Personal Edition widget, click Download Personal Edition. 2. Wait for the PE ZIP file to download: Pega Digital Software Delivery User Guide 15
19 3. When the PE ZIP file has finished downloading, open the file and follow the instructions in the README file. Troubleshooting Check this section for answers to common questions and troubleshooting tips. No Company Affiliation shown? If the Digital Software Delivery page displays nothing in the Company Affiliation field, follow the instruction in the error message: Expected products not listed? If your PDN account and your assigned Support Contact role is up to date, but you still do not see Pega products that you expect to see for your company s account, send an message to DigitalDelivery@pega.com. Digital Software Delivery page not working as expected? If you need help using the Digital Software Delivery page, send an message to DigitalDelivery@pega.com. No notice received? If you have not received an notice to download your software within 15 minutes of your request, take these actions: Check you junk folder. Go to the Digital Software Delivery page and verify that your My Downloads button is enabled. Understand that Pega product software sometimes requires large files.
