2 Creating an Account All 2018 Applicants will initially have to click on New Applicants as this system supersedes the 2017 Application System. Click on New Applicants : You will be asked to Create an Account. Enter your address and re-enter it to confirm that it is correct. This is the address where you will receive all communication regarding your application. Please note that some internet providers have spam filters which block receipt of s. Hotmail addresses in particular can sometimes block correspondence from eapplication, so we advise, if possible, to use a different account for the purpose of your application ( e.g. a gmail or other personal account instead). We also recommend to your safe senders list. Do not use your school address because you will not be at school when offers are made. General Information Enter your name details into the correct fields as prompted. Note: This should be your full legal name, including any middle names, and if you are eligible and applying for HECS-HELP, it must also correspond with the details associated with your Tax File Number (TFN). Your Preferred first name is only required if this differs from the first name you have entered into the First Given Name field. 2
3 Enter a Password It must be: at least 8 characters long contain at least one (1) upper case character contain at least one (1) lower case character contain at least one (1) numerical character Enter the password again into the Confirm Password field. Ensure you type it again - do not use the cut and paste function. Select your date of your birth from the drop down menu in the fields next to DOB. Select your gender from the drop down menu in the field next to Gender. Answer the question Have you ever been known by any other names by selecting Yes or No: 3
4 If you answer Yes, extra fields will be presented which will prompt you to provide these names: Student at University of Tasmania Answer the question, Are you currently, or have you previously studied at the University of Tasmania by selecting either Yes or No: If you select Yes, you will be asked to enter your student ID number (if known) into an extra field that will be presented: 4
5 Security Question Select a Security Question from the drop down menu that will be easy for you to remember the Answer to: Phone Enter at least one Phone number and select the one you prefer to be contacted on by checking the box at the end of the field. Please note that for password reset purposes, a mobile phone number is required: 5
6 Home/Residential Address Enter your home address by first entering at least the first 3 letters of the country you live in and then select from the options that appear: The address field will automatically update based on the information you provide. Select Yes or No to - Is your postal address also your residential address? 6
7 If you select No, additional fields will appear to allow you to enter your postal address, which will be your Correspondence Address. Name Details Confirmation You will now need to confirm that all these details are correct. Read the information provided. You will not be able to continue with your application unless you confirm your Formal Name as this name will be reflected on all University records and your graduation certificate. Ensure your name details are correct and check the box at the bottom of the page to confirm: 7
8 At this point, you will need to save your created account by clicking on the red Save Information button. You will receive confirmation that your Applicant Account has been successfully created. It is very important to record the address and password that you entered so you can log back in at any time. Click OK: 8
9 Your Application During the application process, you may see at the end of a question or field. If you hover your mouse over this symbol, more information is provided about the information required or the question being asked: During the application process, you have the option to click on the red Continue later button in the top right hand corner of each page. This will save what you have entered so far. You are then able to log back into your application, at a later time, and continue from where you left off: 9
10 You are also able to go back to sections of your Application by clicking on the section from the menu tree on the left hand side of the screen. This will also show you your progression through the application process: If you need help, or have a query, you can search through the Application Frequently Asked Questions or find contact details for the University, in the Help information box. Now you can go ahead and complete your application. 10
11 Your Application Click the red button Start your application : Citizenship information You will be asked if you are an Australian citizen. If you are, you will need to check the Yes option and enter the country you were born in. By entering the first 3 letters of your country, options will appear that you are able to select from. Ensure that you select the correct one. Click the red Next Step button: 11
12 If you are not an Australian citizen, select the No option. Enter the Country of your Birth. Enter the country you currently hold citizenship for. Answer the question, Do you have a current Australian Residency Visa? by selecting either the Yes or No option. If you select No, you will be advised that you are an International student and should apply via the International Student website. Click red Exit button to do this: By selecting the Yes option, you will then be required to select what type of visa you have. Enter the visa subclass this will be listed on your visa documentation. Select the date the visa was granted by using the drop down menu. If you select that you have a Permanent or Humanitarian visa, you will also be required to: Select the year of your arrival Enter your passport number 12
13 Click the red Next Step button: Year 12 Applicant Select the Yes option to the question: Are you currently undertaking secondary or senior secondary education? Select either Yes or No to the question: Are you completing an Australian Year 12 qualification? If you select No, you can then click the red Next Step button. If you select Yes, two new fields will be presented. Select the type of Year 12 qualification that you are completing from the drop down menu. Enter your High School or College Student Identification number this should be on your school certificates. This field is not mandatory. Then click the red Next Step button. 13
14 Course Preferences It is now time to add your preferences for the course/s you would like to apply for. Read the information that is provided before clicking on the red Add Preference button: 14
15 As a year 12 applicant, you will be applying for Undergraduate course/s. Untick Postgraduate from the Course Type. You can then filter the search further if you want to, by selecting the Study Level (associate degree, Honours etc), the Study Area, the study period When you want to start, the campus Where you want to attend and How you want to study (on or off campus). Do this by selecting from the drop down menus or checking and unchecking the options from the menus on the left hand side of the screen. Start typing the name of the course in the Course field (such as science) and then select the correct course from the options presented. If you have added filters, you may find that your course preference is not available in the options. This may be because it is not offered under the options you have selected, ie. It may not be offered as an off Campus course, or at the location you selected. You can also click on the Browse for Course link, which will take you to the Course and Unit Handbook where you can look up courses to find out more about them: Once you have selected the course, select an option from the list that appears, for where and when you would like to commence your study: 15
16 Then click the red OK button at the bottom of the page. You will return to the previous screen where you will be able to see that your course has been added as your first preference: From here, you can add other preferences, or delete, or edit the existing one. You can add up to 5 preferences by clicking on the red Add Preference button and repeating the steps above. 16
17 To change the order of your preferences, click on the arrows to move the courses up or down into the order you want: When you select some courses, a message may be returned to let you know that the course has pre-requisites, or high entry levels that must be met to be considered for a place. Read the information and if you are still happy to have this course as a preference, click Save: Once you have added all your preferences and ordered them, click the red Next Step button: 17
18 Government Statistical information Year 12 Location Read the information provided and select the Yes or No option to the question, Did you reside in Australia while completing your Year 12 studies? If you select No, click on the red Next Step button. If you select Yes, you then need to provide your residential address where you lived while completing your Year 12 studies. Select or enter the State, Suburb and Postal code in the fields that are presented. Then click the red Next Step button: Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islanders Read the information and select a response to the next questions: Are you of Australian Aboriginal descent? Are you of Torres Strait Islander descent? Then click the red Next Step button: 18
19 Home language Read the information and select Yes or No to the question: Do you speak a language other than English at home? If you select No, click the red Next Step button. If you select Yes, enter the language you do speak at home into the field that is presented. Then click the red Next Step button: 19
20 Disability Related Information Read the information and select Yes or No to the question: Do you have a disability, impairment or long term medical condition that may affect your studies? If you select No, click the red Next Step button. If you select Yes, indicate the type of disability and/or health condition by selecting from the list that is presented. Then answer Yes or No to the question: Would you like to know about support services, equipment and facilities that may assist you? Click the red Next Step button: 20
21 Advanced Standing If you have or are completing a qualification at a Certificate IV or higher, you may be considered for Advanced Standing. Read the information provided and select Yes or No to the question: Do you wish to be considered for advanced standing? If you select No, click the red Next Step button: If you select Yes, you will need to provide details of the units you have completed in the fields that are presented. Some of these fields will not apply and the compulsory fields are indicated with a red asterisk *. The more detail you can provide, the quicker it will be to assess your application. Hover over the at the end of the fields for further explanation of what is being asked for: 21
22 If you have more than one qualification you would like to list, click on the red Add Advanced Standing Subject: When you have entered all the units, click the red Next Step button. Secondary (Year 11) Study Enter the details of your Year 11 studies: Country State/Province School Name of school Status Complete (including year you completed) vs Currently Studying Then click the red Save Qualifications To My Application button. Once your qualifications are listed, click the red Next Step button: 22
23 Secondary (Year 12) Study As you have already indicated that you are currently undertaking Year 12, some of the fields in this screen will already be populated. Ensure that the information is correct and complete any fields that are not populated. Then click the red Save Qualifications To My Application button. Once your qualifications are listed, click the red Next Step button: 23

25 Post Secondary Study Select Yes or No to the question: Do you have any tertiary study to advise? If you have completed any other qualification that is a Certificate III or above you can select Yes. You then need to enter the details of this qualification into the fields that are presented. When you have entered these details, click on the red Save Qualifications To My Application button. These will be listed. Click on the red Next Step button: 25
26 Summary You will now be shown a summary of your application. Read the information at the top and scroll down to check the details you have entered are correct. You can edit where necessary by clicking on the red Edit button in the section you wish to amend: When you are satisfied that the details are correct, click the red Next Step button at the very bottom of the page: 26
27 Upload Supporting Documentation If you are studying Year 12 in Australia, and have also studied Year 11 in Australia, you do not need to upload any documents for your Secondary education. Read the information provided, select the document type from the drop down menus and click on the red Upload buttons in the relevant sections to provide documentary evidence for any qualifications required: You will need to have the documents saved on your computer and navigate to them using the Choose File button. Add a short description of what the document is. If you do not have a document ready to upload, you can log back into your application at any time and upload it. Then click the red Upload button: 27

29 Authority to Act Select Yes or No to the question: Do you wish to authorise someone to act on your behalf? If you click No, click the red Next Step button. As a Year 12 applicant, you may wish to consider giving permission for a parent or guardian to speak, or act on your behalf in relation to your application. This is completely up to you, however the University will not provide information about your application to a third party (including family) without your express permission. Note: This authorisation applies only to your application if you wish someone else to be able to discuss matters relating to your study while a student at the University (e.g. enrolment and / or fee details), you will need to contact Student Services after you have been admitted, to arrange this. If you click Yes, enter the details of the persons you give authority to in the relevant fields, including selecting their Date of Birth as a means for us to identify them. When you have done this, click the red Next Step button: Declaration To finalise your application, check the box next to the statement: I have read the University of Tasmania Declaration and agree to all terms and conditions as they relate to my application. Your application cannot be submitted unless this is checked. Then click the red SUBMIT button that is presented: 29
30 Application Submitted Success of your application being submitted, will be confirmed with a message. Read the information provided. The message also lets you know that you may be asked to provide further supporting documentation but it does not mean that you necessarily need to do so at this point. Click on the Home Page button to view your Application ID and record this for future reference. 30
31 At any time, you can log back into your application to update your phone and address details (by clicking on Update Profile), view your application (by clicking on View Application), upload further supporting documentation (under Upload Documents) and see any correspondence (under Application Correspondence) that has been sent to you by the Admissions Office. You will receive an to the address that you have supplied in your application to let you know your application has been received. Please check that the advises that you have submitted your application. If the advises that you have saved your application, please log back into your eapplication and press SUBMIT. Offers to current year 12 students will be made from late December, after your year 12 results have been released. If an offer has been made to you, you will receive an at this time advising you both of this and your next steps. Please ensure that you accept an offer before its expiry date, particularly if you have received an offer into a competitive entry course. Expired offers cannot be reinstated. 31
