2 About This Guide This document provides information about the LexisNexis Capital Monitor website. This guide includes information on the following: Using quick and advanced search options Managing subscribed products Managing personal and Capital Monitor topics Setting the preferences Sending IP change requests Intended Audience This guide is intended for users of Capital Monitor. 4 A. Corporate Administrator /User Corporate administrator is a user who has a separate login to manage corporate user. Corporate administrator can create users, manage users, modify users and assign services to the users. The number of users and the band limit for corporate administrators is set at time of creation depending on purchase. Corporate administrators and users can create secondary ids and topics within the band limit provided. Corporate users are subscribers to the services. Subscribers of a corporate subscription can access the website features similar to an individual subscriber. Corporate administrators can assign services to corporate users. 4

5 Home Page Login to the application as a corporate administrator to view the Home page: Login to the application as a corporate user to view the Home page: 5

6 Create Users / View Users This is a Corporate Administrator function. As a corporate administrator, you can create users based on the allowed number and also manage the corporate users. To create a user: 1. Click Create User to view the Create Associate page. 2. Select the user classification for the user. 3. Enter the contact details for the user. 4. Click Save. 6

7 Assign Services After creating the user successfully, you can assign subscribed products, collections, and what s new alerts. To View Assign Services: Click Assign Services in the create subscriber page. To Assign Products: 1. Select the products under the Products pane using the checkbox and click Save. 2. If the administrator wants to assign all the products which are listed under products using Select All options, the administrator can select all the products and click on Save. 3. After assigning the products, the selected product details will be mailed to the subscriber using the save and send mail button. 4. On the Assign Service page, there is a button called Send credentials. When used after assigning products to the user, user credentials related information will be sent to the subscriber or the administrator can reset the user credentials using this button. 7

8 To Assign Collections: Select the collections to assign to the subscriber under the Collections pane using the checkbox and click Save. 8

9 To Assign Capital Monitor Topics: Select the Capital Monitor topics under Capital Monitor Topics pane using the checkbox and click Save. If the administrator wants to assign all the topics which are listed under Capital Monitor Topics using the Select All option, the administrator can select all the Topics and click on save. To view a user: 1. Click View User to view the View Users page. 2. Select the user to replicate the details, click Replicate to create a user with similar details. 9

10 D. Individual Subscriber Home Page Login to the application to view the Home page: Login Page You are required to change your password at the time of first login. The password is reset by the system when you forget the password. After three invalid login attempts, the page will be redirected to forget password page. Forgot password Page You can specify the user name or the primary id and receive login details via . 10

11 Navigating the Capital Monitor website Top Navigation Following are the top navigation links: My Home: Click this to navigate to the home page. Calendar: Click this to view the events in the Calendar. Diary: Click this to view the diary details. You can submit an event for the calendar. When you submit an event, an alert will be sent to Capital Monitor News Manager. My Profile: Click this to set personal details, address, menu preference, subscribed products, IP Change request and password. Logout: Click this to logout of the application. Menu Following are the main functions that can be accessed from the menu: Quick Search Advanced Search What s New Manage Intranet Styles Subscribed Products Link The Subscribed Products link lists the products subscribed to by the Intranet Administrator. You can customize the location of this link in the application. For example, you can select the menu preference as Top Menu to display the menu in the top of the navigation bar. You have the option to have the two different layouts (left menu layout and right menu layout) in the application. My Profile Using this link you can set the following: Personal Details Address Menu Preference Subscribed Products Instant Alerts 11

12 Change password Personal Details 1. In My Profile, click Personal Details to open the My Profile page. 2. Enter the name, address and phone details. 3. Click Save. Note: Subscribers can select the option Receive mails in text format to receive all the s in plain text. Otherwise will be sent as html page. You can subscribe to the diary alerts (daily, weekly) via in this section. 12

13 Address for Additional Users To add or edit for users under your account: 1. In My Profile, click Address to open the My Profile page. 2. Click the plus button to add a secondary 3. Click the minus button to remove the already added 4. Click Save. Menu Preference To set the menu preference: In My Profile, click Menu Preference to open the My Profile page. 13

14 Select the preference from the drop-down list and Click Save. You need to re-login to see the layout change Subscribed Products To set the home page and select the favourite products: 1. In My Profile, click Subscribed Products to open the My Profile page. 2. In the My Home Page column, select the product name page you want as the default home page. By default Quick search is set as home page. 3. Select the favourite products checkbox for the favourite products. Note these product links will be displayed in the top navigation for quick access. 4. Click Save. 5. You need to re-login to see the favorite product list changes Instant Alerts You can also subscribe to Instant Alerts - these s are sent out by our News Managers, in real time and contain federal material only. Our service works in the following way: The subject is the qualifier. This means that, regardless of the type of document (i.e. press release, Hansard extract, transcript, report, legislation, etc) and author (government, opposition and minor parties, industry, associations and other key stakeholders into public policy) the document is assigned to the relevant topics that document pertains to. If you wish to receive these alerts please complete the Capmon Instant Alerts Topics form under My Profile. 14

16 Change password To change the password: 1. In My Profile, click Change Password to open the Change Password page. 2. Enter the current password, new password and confirm password. 3. Click Submit. Using Search You can search using Quick Search and Advanced Search. Quick Search Quick Search enables you to search based on the Search Query (Search What and Search For) and Additional Search Parameters (number of results per page, Display Results and Sort Results). 16

17 To search using the Quick Search link 1. Click the Quick Search link to view the Quick Search screen. 2. Enter the search query for the search. a. Select the group from the Search What drop-down list. For example, select Federal. b. Enter the text to search in the Search For text box and select the type from the drop-down list. 3. Specify the additional search parameters for the search. a. Select the number of results to display in each page from the number of results per page drop-down list. For example, select 10. b. Select the display for the results from the Display Results drop-down list. For example, select by Relevance. c. Select the sort order for the results from the Sort Results drop-down list. 4. Click Search to view the search result. 17

18 Advanced Search Advanced Search enables you to search based on the following criteria: Title Search Search For Search What By Date Number of results per page Display Results Sort Results 18

19 To search using the Advanced Search link: 5. Click the Advanced Search link to view the Advanced Search screen. 6. Enter the search query for the search. a. Enter the title to search. b. Enter the text to search in the Search For text box and select the type from the drop-down list. c. Select the group from the Search What grid. For example, select Media and Legislation. 7. In the Filter Criteria, select from date and to date for the search. Note this will include all the details for the selected date range. 8. Specify the additional search parameters for the search. a. Select the number of results to display in each page from the number of results per page drop-down list. For example, select 10. b. Select the display for the results from the Display Results drop-down list. For example, select by Relevance. c. Select the sort order for the results from the Sort Results drop-down list. 9. Click Search to view the search result. 19

20 Search Result Functions You can perform the following functions in the search results screen: Open the selected document In the search result screen, click the document hyperlink under the Title Summary to open the document. 20

21 Browse by feature You can browse by date, jurisdiction and document type. For example, to browse by date, select the appropriate date link (2011) under the Browse By section. Alerts Manager Alerts Manager page displays the Personal and Capital Monitor topics subscribed to and available for the user. 21

23 Creating a new personal topic 1. Click Create New to open the Manage Topic page. Select the topic properties for the personal topic. Note: Only collections subscribed to will be enabled for search what properties. You can also provide secondary ids to deliver the topic results. If this is not provided, the will be sent to the primary id. 23

24 Subscribe to a Capital Monitor Topic 1. Click the subscribe Capital Monitor topic button in Alerts Manager page. 2. Choose the Capital Monitor topics and click the submit button 3. The Subscribed topic will be listed in the what s new page 24

25 Calendar You can view the calendar events using the Calendar link. 1. On the top navigation bar, click Calendar to view the Calendar screen. By default, the current month s events will get displayed in the calendar. The user can navigate to any month/year and see the event details of the selected month. Diary You can view the diary events using the Diary link. You can search and submit events 25

26 Searching the diary To search in the diary 1. In the Diary screen, enter the event name or event description to be searched in the Search For text box 2. Specify the period (from and to date) 3. Click Search to view the results Search Results Description of the fields Field Description Event Details Date Link Click the link to view the diary events for the date Previous Click the link to move to the previous search results screen Next Click the link to move to the next search results screen Back to Diary Click the button to go back to the Diary screen 26

27 Submitting an Event You can submit an event to the calendar entry for the day. When you submit an event, an will be triggered to the News & Information Manager. To submit an event 1. In the top navigation, Select Diary and click Submit Event to view the Submit event for calendar / diary. 2. Select the Event Type from the drop-down list. 3. Enter the event name in the Event Name text box. 4. Select the start date for the event. 5. Enter the location and description for the event. 6. Enter the contact person name and phone number. 7. Click Submit Details to submit the event. 27
