1 The Cumulus version 11.0 is a major release with new features and bug fixes that improves all Cumulus products, including Workgroup, Enterprise,, and. With this release, Canto s Cumulus is now more efficient across all platforms for which it is developed. New Features For details concerning the new features, please see the What s New in Cumulus 11.0 blog post. Automatic Tagging The new optional Automatic Tagging feature brings the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to Cumulus and facilitates the indexing of your assets significantly. With this feature, external image recognition services can be configured to analyze your assets and, as a result, to provide a number of tags denoting the contents of the images. These tags can be added to the metadata of the assets. The Automatic Tagging feature can be evoked manually via a menu command, both on the Desktop client and on the Cumulus, or via a dedicated Scheduler task. Automatic Tagging must be purchased and licensed in addition to the main Cumulus product. To make use of this feature, a valid license from your Tagging service of choice is required additionally. Although Cumulus can support virtually any number tagging services, support for just two of them is provided currently EyeEm and Clarifai. Extended Search Indexing Cumulus indexes the content of string fields for faster searching. However, indexing fields with lots of data, as well as searching in such indexes, can be very time- and resources-consuming. Therefore, Cumulus offers the integration with an external indexing and search service, Apache Solr (based on Lucene ). Solr adds the power of distributed servers to Cumulus, thus making indexing and searching of Cumulus content scalable and, consequently, increasing the overall performance. 2017, Canto GmbH. 2 Which fields are to be indexed and searched by Solr must be decided by an administrator. For Cumulus users performing searches with any Cumulus Client, this is completely transparent, except maybe for the experience of increased search speed. Extended Search Indexing must be purchased and licensed in addition to the main Cumulus product. Navigation through list of files Files opened in details view (or in edit mode, or in preview mode) now provide controls and keyboard shortcuts that allow to conveniently navigate to the next, previous, first or last file in the context from which the file was opened (e.g. a search result, a collection, the basket, all files of a catalog or container, etc.). When you have changed a value in edit mode, you will be prompted to save (or discard) your changes before Vertical Container Tree The Container Browser, which stretched horizontally across the upper part of the window, has been replaced with a Container Tree on the left side of the window. It presents available containers in a vertical arrangement, with sub containers that can be expanded or collapsed as required. This is a pattern that is not only familiar to the users see for example the Navigation Pane in the Windows Explorer, or the Category Pane in Cumulus Desktop Client, but also presents containers more clearly, because more of them, or a bigger part of the container structure, is visible at any given time. The display of the Container Tree can be toggled via a new entry and icon in the 's main menu. Clicking on a container name selects it, double clicking opens its details page. Dragging files onto a container in the tree adds the files to the container, etc. This also works with convenient keyboard shortcuts. SharePoint Search Connector The SharePoint Search Connector offers an Integration of Canto Cumulus to Microsoft SharePoint The Connector allows to search for Cumulus records within the SharePoint search and displays the records, including its metadata and preview. Asset can be downloaded or copied it into a SharePoint Document library for further use. Office Connector The Office Connector offers plug-ins for MS Word and PowerPoint from which a user can browse for images in Cumulus (filtering, sorting, searching). Images can be inserted into PowerPoint- and Word documents as needed. To work with the Office Connector, users need access to a SSL-enabled Cumulus Web Solutions installation. Support for Adobe InDesign CS6 Server Cumulus InDesign Server now additionally supports Adobe InDesign CS6 Server. Discontinued From Version 11, Cumulus will no longer support Microsoft SQL-Server 2000 and We presume that this very old software no longer is in productive use. Should that nevertheless be the case in your company or should you for other reasons wish to continue using Cumulus 9, you may do so for an indefinite period of time; your license remains valid until you install a new version as set forth in section 8 of the EULA. 3 System Requirement Changes (None) Fixed Issues Cumulus 11.0 contains the following fixes: Filter When the "ß" character is replaced with "ss", or vice versa, the index now will be updated and the searches will work properly. Fixed an issue that caused the server to sometimes become unresponsive when a separate user was used for "User Settings Replacement." Files that are stored in a ZIP archive without any compression will copied properly, even if the ZIP archive is stored in the Vault. Fixed an issue that prevented the proper sorting of single-select vocabulary fields. Making an old version of an asset to the current version (rollback) works properly now, even if the data size of the version is larger than 2GB. When starting the server and a database could not be opened, e.g. because the $Statistics catalog does not exist, a proper error message will be logged. Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the server to become unresponsive when adding a user filter that is based on a categories query. 4 The categories filter now respects the search settings of the current user as defined on the Desktop Client (Preferences dialog, User Settings, Sort & Search tab). Thus, the way category filtering works can be defined using the native client. The filter shows the number of found assets in a bubble next to the category name also using the user's search settings (e.g., related categories). Searches performed in via the Quicksearch field are now properly logged into the $Statistics catalog. (Just modifying any of the filters in the filters panel would not create a log entry.) Sorted collections keep their sorting criteria and order, even if they are closed and re-opened during the same session. CPO-459 CPO-469 CPO-504 When a second user logs in via the same browser, the previous session is closed, so no assets of a previous session are shown. When refreshing a page, now properly returns to the same state as before, including the logged in user, filters, search, etc. now properly checks whether a user has the permissions to print before showing the "Print" button now always shows the number of assets in an upload collection landing page. Fixed an issue that prevented from displaying Chinese (zh_cn) metadata field labels and Chinese (zh_cn) content. In order to preview videos directly in (not using the Cumulus Video Cloud) the user no longer needs the "Download Asset" permission but the "Show Original Asset" permission. The crop editor now properly shows the cropped image, even in MS Internet Explorer 11. In the result of a metadata/getlayout request CIP, now properly returns the color of a label in the "color" property CPO-747 CUM-7778 CUM-7790 CUM-7833 CUM-7863 Known Issues Migration of Plug-ins Prior to Cumulus 11.0 With Cumulus 11.0 code structure was improved heading towards a design approach that helps customer developers with customization and theming. Therefore, all plug-ins developed prior to Cumulus 11.0 must be tested again and, if necessary, migrated. Also, UI customizations will no longer work and must be migrated! However, as the reworking of the code is not yet finished, Canto cannot guarantee that migrated customizations will properly work in future releases. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to postpone migration of UI customizations until further notice.
