What s New and Where to Find It in V6.8 Q4 2017
V6.8 At A Glance (Jan 2018) New SPSTAT2 module is simpler & easier to use, no specialized sort required, has inbuilt AGC and noise attenuation capability. New 2DPreSDM - IMAGE_K2D An MPI Capable 2D PreSDM. Dataset and Support file linkage the HDF5 datasets now incorporate interactive links with support files applied to or created from the dataset. The New Support file tool allows the support file table in an HDF5 file to be updated or support files viewed/edited. Improved software install Install keeps key files (License/Project etc) 3DPreSDM Improved anti-alias filtering. 2DPreSTM Edge effect scaling and trace normalization implemented. 2DPreSTM Operator taper control added. ANGLETIMES calculation of ANGLE mutes up to CDP fold x 4 faster.
Residual Statics What it does: Simplifies residual statics processing flow. Where to find it: SPSTAT2 Module Single module for Input/Output runs from HDF5 No need to pre-compute model dataset. Will take data with or without NMO applied Data conditioning optional within module Seisview QC s of static results launched by module Saves time Simpler residual statics workflow Less risk No complex data prep required. Better residual statics solutions, faster
New 2D PreSDM Module What it does: MPI Capable 2D Isotropic depth migration Where to find it: IMAGE_K2D Migrates 2D Land or Marine Seismic datasets. Currently Isotropic implementation only Full operator controls implemented. Anti-alias filter, trace normalisation & edge effect scaling implemented Saves time Faster PreSDM via MPI. Better 2D Depth migration, faster
HDF5 Support files table What it does: Links a seismic dataset with support files. Where to find it: HDF5 Datasets Simplifies QC of dataflows. Support files created by CVA/SV from a dataset are automatically associated to the data. Modules now select from reduced file list populated from the support file table. Log files hyperlink support files to their relevant editor/display tool. Improved QC/QA of processing sequence Makes it easy to confirm what has/has not been applied to the dataset.
HDF5 Support table application. What it does: Users can interact with new Support files table in the HDF5 dataset Where to find it: Seismic data tab of Launcher Support files button Users can review support files used to create a dataset. Delete unwanted support files in the table Associate new support files to the data. Edit/View support files with a mouse click. Improved QC/QA, better quality control
Software Install - Improved What it does: Automatically preserves key user files. Where to find it: Linux installs stable and beta releases Install script backs up key files. License file (server reference or node locked) kept Queue_settings file saved. Projects file or shared registary link preserved Easier software installations as keys files do not need to be manually saved.
3DPreSDM Improved anti-aliasing What it does: Improved user control of anti-aliasing in the depth migration Where to find it: In IMAGE_K3D module Improvements to the Anti-aliasing capability to match PreSTM capability. Allows complete user control of Anti-aliasing. Better imaging Improved 3D PreSDM results.
2D PreSTM Operator taper control. What it does: More user control over the operators in 2DPreSTM Where to find it: IMAGE_K2T application Users can now control the taper length Easier to balance steep dip Vs Noise Easier PreSTM testing, better quality
2DPreSTM Scaling, Normalisation What it does: Automatically removes edge effects and balances the ouput. Where to find it: In the IMAGE_K2T module. Migration outputs normalized to inputs Migration is still amplitude preserving Automatic edge effect and gap scaling Easier and faster to set up the PreSTM testing Easier to compare the results
ANGLE Mutes Faster computation What it does: Calculates XT Domain Angle mutes using smoothed velocity field Where to find it: ANGLETIMES Module. Further 4x improvement from Speedup parameter if required by user. CDP Fold times improvement in runtime. Faster derivation of Angle mutes.

And in case you missed it
V6.7 At A Glance (Jan 2018) Refraction statics streamlined with integrated QC, no extra files AREAL and SV live monitoring with file watcher technology ADDSPS support for nodal surveys with no SHOTID, CHANNEL 3DPreSTM new taper and anti-alias controls on operator 3DPreSTM automated normalization and edge-effect scaling 3DPreSDM depth imaging available as a new module Wavelet support for Nucleus and Gundalf signature formats SEISREAD faster sorting with HDF5, min/max of headers stored LATLON_XY conversion between Lat/Long and Easting/Northing FKFILTER new FK filtering module with additional features AUTOPICK tighter integration with SV first break picking modes
Refraction Statics What it does: No need to write out picks, modelled first breaks or statics files Where to find it: SV and Refstat First break picks written to trace headers Refraction modelling reads these directly Refraction modelling writes statics to headers Push button Statics application in SV Display modelled first breaks, or repick Saves time - no files to read/write; live QC Less risk wrong files, changes not saved etc Better refraction statics solutions, faster
AREAL and SV : live monitoring What it does: As the files change, AREAL and SV show those changes live Where to find it: AREAL and SV As headers updated, display changes QC first break, live, as they autopick Apply statics, live as refraction statics runs Display modelled first breaks live Saves time - live QC Better refraction statics solutions, faster
ADDSPS Nodal Survey Update What it does: Work with surveys that have no SHOT/CHANNEL Where to find it: ADDSPS module Useful for large nodal surveys Shot or Channel absent from SPS files Works directly with STATION/PEG Support for fractional station numbers Easier for large 3D nodal surveys Saves time no header manipulation needed
3DPreSTM Tapers and Anti-Alias What it does: More user control over the operators in 3DpreSTM Where to find it: In IMAGE_K3T module and the image suite Users can now control the taper length Users can have more anti-alias control Easier to balance steep dip Vs Noise Easier PreSTM testing, better quality
