Installation Requirements The Visio P&ID Process Designer 2016 software in the presented form was tested and released for the following general conditions: Operating systems: Windows 7 Professional (64-Bit) Windows 7 Enterprise (64-Bit) Windows 7 Ultimate (64-Bit) Windows 10 Pro (64-Bit) Windows 10 Enterprise (64-Bit) Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard Applications: Microsoft Visio Professional 2010 (64-Bit) Microsoft Visio Professional 2013 (64-Bit) Microsoft Visio Professional 2016 (64-Bit) Microsoft Office 2010 (32-Bit and 64-Bit) Microsoft Office 2013 (32-Bit and 64-Bit) Microsoft Office 2016 (32-Bit and 64-Bit) Versant DB: (VDS-Patch-Level: ) Licensing: License query performed via softkey for licensing on a single or on multiple workstations of Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2012 operating systems. Please refer to the document "System Requirement" for further information about the updates and service packs of third party products, which have been released for P&ID Process Designer The Visio P&ID Process Designer Report-Generator and the import and export of data to Excel require Office 2010 or Later. Visio P&ID Process Designer is designed for deployment on an NTFS partition. Installation and use of Visio P&ID Process Designer on a FAT partition may lead to undesired effects. 4 We recommend using Visio P&ID Process Designer only in a homogeneous environment, this implies not to use different versions. The Visio P&ID Process Designer 2016 was tested and released for the Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition. There is no guarantee for the error-free operation of Visio P&ID Process Designer with the other Windows Server 2012 editions. ITandFactory GmbH VPID_Installation.doc Page 4/18

Installation Preparation Before the installation can be started, the system, on which Visio P&ID Process Designer will be installed, should be inspected: At first do run all additional programs that are necessary for Visio P&ID Process Designer to verify their correct operation, e.g. MS Visio Professional and MS Office. Please ensure that the TCP/IP protocol is installed, and adjusted to the system. Please ensure that you have administration rights for installation. Visio P&ID Process Designer should be installed by the (Windows) user account which is intended to use the software. It is advised that the user account, which uses Visio P&ID Process Designer, shall get temporary administrator permissions for installation of installation. Please ensure that the name of the installation directory does not contain blanks or special characters. It should unconditionally be considered that write access is enabled to all Visio P&ID Process Designer directories (especially \SYSTEM) for the Account System and the accounts of all Visio P&ID Process Designer users or for the account Everyone. We recommend installing Visio P&ID Process Designer on a separate partition, if possible. The storage requirements for a full installation amounts to appr. I GB (without databases and project data). 6 3. Procedure for a Local Client Installation The installation browser runs automatically upon insertion of the DVD. In case of auto run is deactivated, start the installation by executing StartMenu.exe found in the root directory of the Visio P&ID Process Designer 2016 DVD. Then, click on the button Installation, and afterwards click on the underlined link Visio P&ID Process Designer 2016 Setup. You may also run the Setup directly by executing \Install\VPID\Win64\VPID_Setup64.exe file for a 64-Bit installation or \Install\VPID\Win32\VPID_Setup32.exe for a 32-Bit installation. The installation procedure of the Visio P&ID Process Designer is now in progress. Please follow the installation instructions on the screen. 1. 7 2. The Setup program inspects your computer with regard to existing installations. 3. Please read the license agreement. Read the important notes regarding the lifetime of the current Visio P&ID Process Designer release. Confirm your acceptance, and then click Next. ITandFactory GmbH VPID_Installation.doc Page 7/18

8 Please read now the note regarding the lifetime of the Visio P&ID Process Designer. Please pay attention to the lifetime of the current release. Then click on "Next". 4. Choose a root folder for configuration and program files, as well as the work folder for databases and projects. If existing databases and project data are found in the selected work folder, you cannot continue with the setup. 9 5. Define the scope of the installation by selecting the desired features. All specified standard adjustments should be adopted as per setup recommendations. Also make sure to select only items which you have ordered. The Basic installation is a fixed component of the installation and it cannot be removed from installation. It is required for server as well as for Client-Installation. The program file feature contains system files, which are required for a Client- Installation. To install the feature, you must ensure that Microsoft Vision Installation exists in your system, which is supported by the current version of Visio P&ID Process Designer. You have the possibility to install language-dependent components in addition to the standard-language English. This feature will install e.g. report templates, templates, symbols etc. for the selected additional language. Consider that all default objects/libraries will exist twice if you install Visio P&ID Process Designer in English and in German language. So before initializing, make sure the Library-folder contains only default-objects for one language. To use the default-objects of two languages, we suggest creating another Visio P&ID Process Designer-Domain in that language with its own Library-folder. With the Unit dependent data feature, you can define which units you would like to use for your work. The sub-feature Metric Units includes data with metric units, such as templates, catalogs, libraries, wherein the imperial Units sub-feature includes data with imperial units. 10 The Documentation feature offers program documentation, like Online Help and Tutorials. You can obviously restart the setup at any time and remove an installed feature or install an additional feature. 6. Finally, click on Install in order to run the installation procedure. Now, Setup installs the Visio P&ID Process Designer 2016 software with all selected features to your system. ITandFactory GmbH VPID_Installation.doc Page 10/18

12 Once Setup has completed the procedure, you can continue with the personalization of your Visio P&ID Process Designer Installation: Fill in the fields in the dialog box and select additional image file such as Your company logo and click on "Save". The stored personalization data is used by Visio P&ID Process Designer in new projects presented. Your personalization data can be entered at a later time by menauel enter the personalization tool: Start> Programs> ITandFactory> Tools> Personalization. 13 4. Procedure for a Client/Server Installation Work to be done at the Server Server Support Installation procedure on the server is basically the same as for a client machine. So please follow the above described steps first. Note, that while selecting the features, it is not necessary to install Program file for a server. File Access Permissions All future Visio P&ID Process Designers users need access on file level for the folder: D:\ITF\VPID. It is recommended to use an Active Directory group named VPID_USERS which contains all employees who shall work with Visio P&ID Process Designers. Give this group the permission Modify on the above mentioned folder. Procedure: Context menu of folder > Properties > Security > Edit > Add > type the name of the group VPID_USERS in the empty field. 14 Optional further restrictions If needed, it is possible to further restrict access rights within folder ITF\VPID for subdirectories. No access is needed for: ITF\VPID\APP ITF\VPID\LocalCFG ITF\VPID\System ITF\VPID\Documentation Read-only access is sufficient for e.g.: ITF\VPID\Reports Share folder and map network drive Create a share on D:\ITF\VPID (permission Full access for All users) Context menu of folder > Properties > Share > Permissions Map network drive (standard: V, this drive letter needs to be identical on all client machines later) by selecting shared local folder VPID. Setting up Domain Create a new domain with name SERVER by using the Domain Assistant. This domain shall use the mapped drive. 15 Activate this domain. Work to be done at the Client Installation Installation to be done as described above. Mapping the network drive Map the network drive and select the shared folder VPID of the server (standard: V ) Setting up the Domain Use the Domain Assistant to set up a new domain with name SERVER. This domain shall use the mapped server drive, as is described above. Activate the domain. 5. Post Installation Configure Modules and Initialize System Upon completion of the installation, the following steps shall be performed before Visio P&ID Process Designer can be used. Thus, you can start working with the program immediately. The product is available with the first execution date for 15 days in demo mode. Later, your Visio P&ID Process Designer should be licensed before the demo period expires. For requesting and activating licenses, please use the tool Registration and Licensing : Start > Programme > ITandfactory > Administration > Registration and Licensing A separate document VPID_Licensemanager.pdf is available for this. 16 Depending on which kind of installation you are doing, these steps need to be executed on the server or on the local client machine. 1. Setting up a server domain, as described in chapter Setting up a network license manager as well as requesting and activating the licenses, as described in chapter Use the Config Manager tool for configuring your system (to be found in Start > Programs > ITandFactory > Administration). a. Select domain b. Enter the name of the license server. 4. Install the custom object models, if any. 5. initializing the system locally or on the database server, depending on the desired operation (Start> Programs> ITandFactory> Administration> System reinitialize). The default options can be used directly on a clean installation. If you are using Import default objects from disk during the system initialization, then ensure that Save objects to *.def files first is enabled and that all following questions are affirmed. 17 Follow-up Installation / De-installation of Modules Setup supports the follow-up installation and subsequent de-installation of single features. Follow the menu Start Settings Control Panel Add/Remove Software and highlight Visio P&ID Process Designer Afterward, you can choose between Change or Remove. Do select Change to add or remove features. Upgrade installation from Visio 2010 Prof. to a higher Visio Prof. Version Here, just the new Visio Version is sufficient to install over the already installed Visio After a one-time activation of new version, this will then be automatically recognized and used by Visio P&ID Process Designer. Simultaneous installation of multiple Visio Prof. Versions Visio 2010, Visio 2013 and Visio 2016 can be installed simultaneously on a computer. The Visio P&ID Process Designer always uses the last activated native Visio version. Example: If the last Visio version used is Version 2010 and it works in Visio P&ID Process Designer with the Visio 2013, then this is sufficient to start and end native Visio From now on, the Visio P&ID Designer uses the Visio ITandFactory GmbH VPID_Installation.doc Page 17/18

18 6. Installation of the Network License Manager (NLM) For the installation of the Network-License manager starts the setup of Sentinel RMS License Manager from the installation DVD. If an older release of Sentinel is installed on your system, uninstall this old version of the software before installing the new release. For additional information, refer to VPID_Licensemanager.pdf document. Licensing In order to re-adjust Visio P&ID Process Designers to operate with Network Licensing Management procedures, use the Config Manager or the Domain Assistant to change license mode.
