7 CHAPTER 1 Before You Begin This chapter describes the recommended operating systems and the minimum requirements. It also provides information about what to do and to check before starting the installation. Introduction When installing Asanti, we can choose between 2 fixed product types: Asanti Render and Asanti Production. Both products can only be installed on 64-bit Windows Operating Systems. Windows Server Windows Workstation Operating System Windows Server 2008 (x64) Windows Server 2008 R2 Windows Server 2012 Windows 7 (x64) Windows 8 Windows 8.1 (x64) The Asanti Client can also be installed on 32-bit Windows Operating Systems. Minimum Requirements Product Windows Server Windows Workstation Minimum requirements Single Quad core CPU 16 GB memory 2 x 450GB SAS HD in RAID1 (net capacity 450 GB) Single Quad core CPU 16 GB memory 2 x 500GB SATA HD in RAID1 (net capacity 500 GB) NOTE: You cannot install the Asanti software on a FAT 32 disk, because SQL 2008 can only be installed on NTFS partitions. 7

8 8 BEFORE STARTING THE INSTALLATION Before Starting the Installation You are advised to run a virus detection application on the Asanti Server. This will have little influence on the performance of the system, and offers a higher degree of security. Internal tests have been made using McAfee Virus Scan v8.0 (Networks Associates Technology Inc.). We suggest that you only enable the "Scan when writing to disk" option. Make sure you logged on with Administrator rights. The computer name on which you install Asanti should use only the following characters: a-z, A-Z, 0-9. The name should not contain spaces, dashes, underscores, or names longer than 14 characters. The server on which you install Asanti must have a working network connection. If you are using multiple network cards, check the network card order. Asanti registers on the first network card. You should not change the order of the network cards after installation. Make sure that all important Windows Updates are installed. Make sure that File sharing for Windows is enabled. Empty your local temp folders by opening Windows Explorer, typing %Temp% in the Address box, then deleting all temporary files. Have your (green) Asanti USB dongle ready, but do not yet connect it to your server.

9 CHAPTER 2 Installing Asanti This section explains how to install the Asanti Server and Asanti Clients. Installing the Asanti Server To install the Asanti Server 1 Start the Installer by double-clicking the Setup.exe file which is located in the following folder: Agfa_DVD\Asanti_2.0.0_DVD. The Asanti installer will first install some Microsoft prerequisites if necessary: Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables Microsoft.NET Framework 2 Click Install to install these prerequisites. 3 Click Next. 4 Accept the License Agreement, and click Next 9

10 10 INSTALLING THE ASANTI SERVER 5 Choose Server, and click Next. Here, you select the product type that you purchased. NOTE: For an Asanti Advanced installation, or an installation via a Configuration file, we refer to the Asanti Advanced Installation Guide. 6 Select your product type, and click Next.

11 2 INSTALLING ASANTI 11 7 Select your digital presses and add them to the list. 8 Click Next. 9 Select the disk drives that you want to use. The Asanti Installer requires disks to have at least 8 GB of free disk space. NOTE: If you have more than 1 drive, the drive with the Operating System will be automatically placed in the Do not use column. 10 Click Next.

12 12 INSTALLING THE ASANTI SERVER The Asanti Server uses an underlying web server which is provided by Apache TomCat. This web server is automatically installed during the Asanti Server installation, but you need to specify a different HTTP port if the default connection port is already in use by another application on your system. 11 Make sure port 80 is selected and click Next. 12 Click Next. NOTE: To change the folder allocations and/or the Asanti system name, select the I want to change these settings check box, and click Next. For more info, see the Asanti Advanced Installation Guide.

13 2 INSTALLING ASANTI Click Install. The Asanti Server installation will install: WIBU Driver 6.00 SQL 2008 R2 Express Edition Apache TomCat Asanti software. NOTE: Installing the Asanti Server takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. When it is finished, you will see the following window.

15 2 INSTALLING ASANTI 15 Installing Asanti Clients 1 The Asanti Client installation wizard is started automatically. If the Client installer does not start, navigate to your DVD > installers > UserInterFace > 'StartUIInstall.exe'. 2 Click Next. 3 Select I accept the terms in the license agreement, and click Next.

16 16 INSTALLING ASANTI CLIENTS You can choose a Typical or a Custom installation: Typical installation: Automatically installs the Client language version which matches the Regional Settings of your operating system, together with the documentation, and all Agfa plug-ins for Acrobat Pro (if this application is installed on your system). Custom installation: Allows you to select any of the available languages, and to choose whether or not you want to install plug-ins and QMS. NOTE: For more info on how to make a custom Client installation, we refer to the Asanti Advanced Installation Guide. 4 Choose Typical, and click Next. 5 Change the Client destination folder if necessary.

17 2 INSTALLING ASANTI 17 6 Click Next. 7 Click Next to confirm you want to install the features listed in the Setup Summary. 8 Click Install. The Asanti Client installation installs: XRite driver (for the EyeOne color measuring device) Acrobat Plug-ins if Adobe Acrobat Pro is installed Asanti Client NOTE: Installing the Asanti Client takes about 2 minutes.

18 18 INSTALLING ASANTI CLIENTS 9 Click Install twice. 10 Click Finish. 11 Now attach the (green) Asanti USB dongle to the computer. 12 Click Yes.

19 CHAPTER 3 Licensing the Asanti Server This section explains how to license the Asanti Server using the Web License Tool and upload registration information to the Agfa License Server. To obtain a License File After the system is restarted, the Web License Tool wizard is started automatically. NOTE: The wizard starts up before Windows Explorer is completely running. If the wizard doesn t start, navigate to Start > (All) Programs > Agfa > Web License Tool in Windows. NOTE: The Dongle ID is the unique identifier of your dongle and is required before you can license. 1 Click the Register button. OR If there is no internet connection, click the Register off-line button in the Web License Tool dialog. 19

20 20 LICENSING THE ASANTI SERVER Save the request.htm file on a system with internet connection, and click it open. A web page opens in a new browser window. 2 Click the Register button on this page. A new window will open. Paste the reservation code you received in the e- mail. 3 Click Next to open a registration form.

21 3 LICENSING THE ASANTI SERVER 21 4 When you have completed the form, click Next. A confirmation summary is displayed. 5 Click Next to confirm. A yellow message confirms that the registration was successful.

22 22 LICENSING THE ASANTI SERVER The Web License Tool now downloads your license file automatically. A back-up license file is also sent to the address that you entered during the registration. 6 Close the browser window. 7 Click Close in the Web License Tool. Asanti is now licensed. 8 Check your for the back-up license file and save the attached back-up license file on your computer.

25 CHAPTER 4 Starting an Asanti Server and Client This section explains how to start the Asanti Server and Client after installing and licensing. The Asanti Manager should start automatically. If the Asanti Manager does not start automatically, click the Asanti Manager shortcut on the desktop. 1 Click Start to start the Asanti Server. After approximately 1 minute, you will see the first components appearing in the task bar and in the 'details'. NOTE: Starting the Asanti Server takes approximately 5 minutes. If the Server doesn't start up completely, click on Show details in the Asanti Manager to see which components have an error status. Contact your Service technician. After the Server has started up completely, the Asanti Client starts up automatically. If this is not the case, click the Asanti Client shortcut on the desktop. 25

26 26 STARTING AN ASANTI SERVER AND CLIENT 2 Choose your Server in the list. 3 Select the Connect to selected system at startup check box. 4 Enter the user name and password. This is a Windows user on the Asanti Server or a Windows network user who has access to the Asanti Server. 5 Select the Remember user name and password check box. 6 Click Log On.

27 CHAPTER 5 Configuring Asanti When connecting to an Asanti Server for the first time, a configuration wizard is started automatically. If the configuration wizard does not start automatically, choose Help > Configuration Wizard. 1 Click Next. Fill in the configuration for the Digital Press(ses). For Anapurna and Generic SD devices: "Export directory" is the location where the files for this device need to be written. Typically this is something like \\<digital press name>\share_in\1_to_be_printed The file name field indicates how the jobs show up in your engine interface. For some devices you can choose the Ink set. This also needs to be selected in the configuration wizard. 27

29 5 CONFIGURING ASANTI 29 3 Click Next and change the default memory settings if required. 4 Click Next and select your backup location for the database used by the Asanti Server NOTE: It is recommended to define an external backup location, to make sure that you can restore your Asanti Server at all times.

30 30 CONFIGURING ASANTI 5 Select the desired location and click Next A window will mention that the setup was completed. 6 Click the 'Starting With Asanti' link to jump to the AsantiNetwork tutorial page which contains several tutorials to get you started with Asanti. 7 Now click Finish.
