6 Preliminary Championships. 1. Preliminary Championships are included in ALL Open Championships from 9-10 years upwards provided that there are 2 or more eligible dancers. 2. To be eligible to compete in a Preliminary Championship a dancer; a) cannot have been placed in a top 3 position in an Open Championship within the last 12 months. 3. b) Cannot have won more than 2 Preliminary Championships within the last 12 months irrespective of the number of competitors. 4. A Preliminary Championship is a competition, which has been judged by a panel of at least 3 adjudicators and must have included 1 light and 1 heavy dance. 5. Preliminary Championships will be held in conjunction with the Open Championships and will be decided by the order of merit of the eligible dancers after the first 2 rounds. 6. All dancers will be asked to confirm their eligibility to compete in a Preliminary Championship when collecting their competition number card. 7. No change to the list of eligible Preliminary dancers will be permitted after the start of the relevant Open Championship. 8. Teachers are asked to ensure that dancers are fully aware as to whether or not they are entitled to compete in a Preliminary Championship. The General and Dance related rules in the syllabus for Oireachtas Rince Na Cruinne 2017 will be strictly adhered to. The Scottish Regional Council have a zero tolerance policy on the consumption of alcohol in all dancing areas at feisanna.
