Services provided by GeoBase include: Street Mapping Reverse Geocoding GeoFencing Address Lookup (Geocoding) Routing & Route Optimization Navigation Data Import Tools The goal of this tutorial is to add satellite imagery to the simple mapping application [ADD REFERENCE HERE TO PREVIOUS TUTORIAL] we developed in the first tutorial. Satellite imagery is attained through GeoStream, which is a technology that delivers GeoBase functionality over the internet. Prerequisites This tutorial assumes familiarity with Microsoft s Visual Studio. You will need a copy of Visual Studio 2005 or later and a moderately-specified desktop computer. Experience with digital mapping technology is assumed only at a low level.

2 PAGE 2 Setup Before we can start using GeoBase we must obtain a copy of the software development kit (SDK). A 30-day trial of the SDK is available for download from the GeoBase website. Choose between two versions of the SDK. One version comes loaded with NAVTEQ data for the US (California and Nevada), the other for the UK and Ireland. Download and install the SDK. If you don t already have a license you will be guided through the simple process to obtain a trial license. Opening the Project The project, Map Explorer Lite was created in the first tutorial. If you have not read or completed this tutorial, then please visit [ADD REFERENCE HERE TO PREVIOUS TUTORIAL] for a copy. Launch Visual Studio and open the project Map Explorer Lite. When you run your application it should appear similar to the following image.

3 PAGE 3 Adding Satellite Imagery To add satellite imagery to our simple mapping application, we are going to carry out the following steps: 1. Add a checkbox to the form this is so we can toggle between standard map view, and satellite imagery view. 2. Switch client side to GeoStream mode. If you re using the SDK a GeoStream server running on your local machine will have been automatically configured. Otherwise, please refer to the GeoStream Satellite Imagery topic in the reference documentation. 3. Add an event handler for the checkbox to toggle the map image between standard view and satellite view. Step 1 - Add a checkbox to the form From the toolbox, select the Checkbox control and place it on your form. Name the checkbox control checkboxsatellite and change the text property from checkbox1 to Satellite ON. The form should now look similar to the image below:

4 PAGE 4 Step 2 - Switch to GeoStream mode Add the following using directive to the top of your source file. using Telogis.GeoBase.Repositories; Now add the following code to your Main()function, before the call to Application.Run. This will take you to the CheckedChanged event handler.
