3 Pre-requisites Before setting up the solution in CRM you will need to obtain: The managed solution file o Download from A valid license key o sales@xrmconsultancy.com with your CRM Unique Organization Name (Can be found in Settings -> Customizations -> Developer Resources) An account with SMS credits from Esendex o A free trial is available from Import Solution As a user with the System Administrator role, navigate to Settings > Customization > Solutions and click on the Import button at the top of the Solutions grid. A dialogue window will open. Click Browse to locate the SMS Messaging managed solution: SMS Messaging Solution: Pre-requisites 3
4 Click Next. The solution information screen is displayed: Click Next, and check the Post Import Actions checkbox: The Import Customizations Dialog is displayed. Wait for the operation to complete: SMS Messaging Solution: Import Solution 4
5 If successful the Import Solution dialog window is displayed with corresponding message: Click on the Close button to close the dialog window and return to the Solutions grid view: Click on the Publish All Customizations button on the grid toolbar. SMS Messaging Solution: Import Solution 5
6 Configuration Open the SMS/Text Messaging from xrm Consultancy solution from the Solutions list. Accept Terms and Conditions The solution window will be displayed with the configuration page selected. You will need to click the Accept Terms and Conditions button before you are able to continue with the set up: SMS Messaging Solution: Configuration 6
7 SMS Configuration The Configuration page is refreshed and now displays the a time stamp of when the Terms and Conditions were accepted. Click on the Open SMS Configuration link to open the configuration form and complete the installation: SMS Messaging Solution: Configuration 7
8 License and SMS Gateway Account Validation Enter your License Key and Esendex SMS gateway account details (use your login name in the Account Name field). If you would like to specify a Send Alias (the number or text that is displayed to the user receiving the text message) enter one in the Send Alias field. If you do not specify anything the default number associated with your Esendex account will be used. Click Save and your details will be validated. On success the License key details will be filled in and your remain SMS credits for Esendex will also be displayed in the Account Details section (these credits are only updated whenever you save the configuration record). The Default Country Code As of Version you can set a default Country Code in the Configuration form. This allows you to store your contact s mobile number in the local format on the Contact form and have it sent via the international SMS gateway. If you don t set the Default Country Code it will default to 44 (UK). SMS Messaging Solution: Configuration 8
9 The default Country Code is applied to mobile numbers as follows: Default Country Code Example Number Full converted number in international format [blank] (0) If the country code is matched it does not get appended twice) (0) SMS Messaging Solution: Configuration 9
10 Testing the Installation Refresh your browser window to ensure that the published customizations appear in your menus. Navigate to the File menu in the CRM Ribbon Navigation, select New Activity > SMS A new SMS form will open. Enter in a Message and your mobile number and click the Send SMS button. You should receive the message on your phone within a few seconds. If you do not receive a message check the Status Reason of the SMS activity. If it is Error open the Administration section on the form and check for any message in the Web Service Response fields. SMS Messaging Solution: Testing the Installation 1 0
11 Security Roles IMPORTANT! To enable users to be able to send SMS messages they need to have at least Read privileges on the SMS Configuration entity. There is a SMS Message Sender role included in the solution which you can easily add to user who need to send SMS messages or you could update an existing role with the same privilege. If you would user's other than the System Administrator role to accept the license terms and update the configuration entity they will need be to granted the SMS Configuration Administrator role.
