LET S T A L K 1.1. D A T A Why Coding? Learn to Code is not a geeky thing anymore. Coding is no longer related only to those Star Trek lovers. Coding is already about education itself. Traditional Education must turn their heads over the necessity of teaching coding during high school years. However, there is still the question about Why Coding?. And we should answer: Why not? Ok, let s argue this with facts. By 2024, the employment of developers is expected to grow up to 17%. gy/software-developers.htm What other industry has a projected growth like that? Furthermore, the median salary (in the US) for a software developer is around $100k. Yeah, not bad. What about Coding Bootcamps? There are, at least as major examples, three (3) kinds of profiles willing to become a developer and taking the decision of enrolling a Coding Bootcamp, such as: Increase income Jobs demanding new skills Full Stack Developers Entrepreneurs
LET S T A L K 1.1. D A T A Why Coding? Graduating from a Coding Bootcamp pays off. According to ahttps://goo.gl/utwuae recent report, graduates from a Bootcamp are getting higher salaries and more opportunities than what they had before enrolling in a program: 25k Wage increase after graduating from a Coding Bootcamp. $66k Average salary after graduating from a Coding Bootcamp 8 out of 25 The most demanded positions are in Coding related areas. You have 4x more opportunities to find a job if you Learn to Code.
LET S T A L K 1.1. D A T A Why Coding? Our Full-Stack program will not only train you to become a developer, but teach you the technologies most wanted and best paid in the market. -camp-pays-off-grads-report-64-increase-average-salary-according-new-study/ More Job opportunities: Coding skills are in high demand. Everybody is looking to hire developers. Higher income: Working as a software developer will increase your income immediately. Job growth: Coding jobs are increasing and is projected to increase even more during the next years. Entrepreneur experience: Learn to Code and get coding skills will give you the tools to launch your own Startup.
LET S T A L K 1.2. D A T A Employment Let s talk about the data behind the program. We just want to address the topics jumping to your mind when thinking about enrolling at a Coding Bootcamp. 500k 25k $60k There are over FIVE hundred thousand open coding jobs in the US. That number goes up to 1 million if we include those areas related to Coding: marketing, graphic design, arts, etc. Finance, Healthcare and Manufacturing are the industries demanding more coding developers. Open positions for developers just in Florida in accordance to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.Miami is, for sure, the city with the most job opportunities since its Tech industry has evolved faster than any other city in the US. This is the average wage for a junior web developer. This data may vary depending on the city, but it s the estimate for a web developer coming out of a Coding Bootcamp.
LET S T A L K 1.3. D A T A Languages You are probably wondering why a particular language is being chosen for us to be part of our syllabus. Why Python? Why JavaScript? Why not Ruby? There is a huge analysis and several reasons supporting our decisions; here we will try to show you the data and reasons behind our syllabus. JavaScript is the most popular technology, not only in the US, but worldwide. Furthermore, it keeps growing year by year. A recent survey from Stackoverflow shows the following:
LET S T A L K 1.3. D A T A Languages As you can see, Python has been growing fast as well. Let s be clear, Python was huge several years ago, but then it stopped being at the top list. That has changed again and Python is back on the top. Why? There are, at least two reasons: 1. Python is used for a variety of purposes and is versatile. 2. Tech areas such as Data science and Machine learning (two of the biggest areas in the Tech Industry) are requiring Python developers. Click here to check out the data and get an outsider approach for this argument. Now, let s talk about wages, the average wage for a web developer could reach $60k a year. This is for a junior position. Now, as your experience grows, your wage does the too. Senior developer earnings are around $120k per year. The Bureau of Labor statistics has identified the performance of web developer s positions and has stated that the average in the US for a web developer is $72K per year. For a software developer its around $104k per year.
LET S T A L K 1.3. D A T A Languages Python and JavaScript are among the best paid career positions in the US. In average, a Python developer earns around $99k per year, and a JavaScript developer, around $90k per year. You will be trained on both during our program. But wait, that does not mean that you will get a wage of those two combined; it means that you will have the chance to apply for a job demanding those skills. And, please let us state that this is data. There is an important fact missing here: How many job opportunities are open? What coding languages are companies looking for? The answer is, without a blink, JavaScript! Then, as David Robinson (Stackoverflow post) pointed out recently: Python has a solid claim to being the fastest-growing major programming language
LET S T A L K 1.3. D A T A Languages zzzzzzzz If you compare how many job opportunities are for JavaScript against Ruby on Rails, you will get this: JavaScript Ruby on Rails Click here Now let s see the performance of Python against Ruby on Rails: Python Ruby on Rails Click here
S Y L L A B U S Syllabus Designing our Syllabus was a discussion over: popularity of the technologies, frameworks and libraries, methodology to teach and quality control, expected wages for web developers with such skills, timing, open positions and skills demanded, and a special focus on our students learning process. Syllabus Goal: Our goal is to train you exactly on what companies are looking for: - Create amazing websites. - Create web applications like Airbnb, Twitter, etc. - Re-shape your mind to embrace logical, research and development skills.
S Y L L A B U S 2.1. Syllabus Stages As you probably know, we have divided our program in three main stages: Technologies and stages The first 2 weeks are about HTML, CSS and Bootstrap: Everybody needs to learn the foundation of the web, the components, etc. On weeks 3 and 4, learn to code in JavaScript by building games and small websites. During the next 6 weeks you will start using JavaScript, CSS/HTML, Sass, Webpack, GIT and many others to create better websites, games and even simple web applications. Python comes in from week 10 to 16, empowering you to start doing amazing copycats of the most popular web applications out there.
S Y L L A B U S 2.2. Syllabus Technologies Let s be clear (in case we haven t), we are teaching JavaScript and Python as main technologies. And there are strong reasons for that, it s not just a careless decision:
S Y L L A B U S 2.2. Syllabus Technologies Why Python? 1. The best MVC Web Framework: Python/django is one of the top technologies to code for the web, if not the best. 2. The future is about Web, A.I. and Big Data: Python is THE LANGUAGE for Big Data, Machine Learning and AI. All major libraries are written in Python. 3. MIT Teaches in Python: 25% of junior developer s mistakes are within the syntax; with Python that is almost entirely gone. This and many other amazing reasons make Python the best language to teach coding, that is probably why MIT decided to teach using Python. 4. Job Openings: Python has 3x more job openings than Ruby, even Google endorsed python and uses it everywhere!
S Y L L A B U S 2.2. Syllabus Technologies Why JavaScript? The question should be: Why not JavaScript? There are no other alternatives, JavaScript owns the web, it s the only language web browsers understand and it is growing like crazy. It has more job openings than any other (by far!!), it is hot, trendy and it will stay that way for a few years at least. In combination with Python they will make you the best armed developer you can expect to be. What about NodeJS? According to W3Techs, Similartech and many other market research firms, Node JS is only used in 0.3% of the web and it is not growing as fast as it was growing last year. If you learn Python/django you will be comfortable working with Ruby/Rails or PHP/Laravel, but Node is extremely different from the rest of the back-end technologies. We have to make sure that you understand how to build websites like the other 99.7% of the web does. We wrote an article to explain why we decided to leave Node out of this program. Click here to read our analysis.
Schedule 2.3. Schedule We have already planned our We are having new cohorts every time. Miami needs developers and we are working on being part of the solution. 18 T E S T I M O N I A L S Testimonials 4Geeks Academy has more than 200 graduates so far. 3 cities and 5 ongoing campuses. We have been working hard, but we are still building our own path. What we say is nothing compared to what our graduates already said. Let s check out some of their experiences: Lou Stadler Awesome. Nothing but love for the team. One of the best decisions I ve ever made. 100% recommended for those looking for a new life in a Coding career. You have to dedicate 20 hours per week in order to get better and take advantage of everything they have to teach you. Shawn Hinton I joined 4Geeks Academy because it s a full Stack program, part-time, and also because it has Miami Dade College support. You have to keep up, since this a great challenge in your career. Plus, the Instructors are very knowledgeable; they really know how to teach and what it takes to become a developer.
T E S T I M O N I A L S Testimonials David Morales I didn t know how detailed it would be. Now I understand what is required to be a developer, and I have gained the skills to get a Job as a Web Developer. The fact that we had two (2) instructors among the group, made it very easy to get every concept. Francesco Mercuri The academic and the exercises platform built by 4Geeks is mandatory for someone learning to code. It s the perfect way to become a developer in a part-time schedule. This is a great way to learn to code, but also how to think, because coding is also about thinking in a way that helps you build new stuff. Josh Lewis This was the single best thing that I have done for my career. These guys are truly passionate and keep things fun and engaging. Lorem ipsum
