2 The following tutorial will take you through the simple process of reading a Liteon DG-16D4S DVD Drive (Firmware version 0272, 0225and 0401) and then installing the Xecuter DG-16D4S Unlocked PCB to that drive and writing new firmware using Maximus Toolbox or newer an Maximus 360 Lizard. Requirements: Maximus 360 Lizard DVD Drive Power source (the tutorial uses an Xtractor 3 - but of course you can use any current device on the market to power drives) Xecuter DG-16D4S Unlocked PCB (you can also use the PCB that had the Pro Kit installed too) Sata Cable (Supplied with Maximus Lizard) USB Cable (Supplied with Maximus Lizard) Latest version of Toolbox (Must be v beta and above) Latest version of Maximus Gecko OS firmware (must be at least v1.14) Maximus 360 Lizard Windows USB Drivers Windows XP / Vista / 7-32bit or 64bit MAC OSX (Using Parallels, Boot-camp or VM-Ware) WARNING You must have Toolbox and Lizard firmware 1.14 to proceeded If you have previously dumped your 0225 drive with earlier firmware, YOU MUST USE THIS VERSION OF FIRMWARE TO REDUMP YOUR DRIVE OR IT WILL NOT WORK!! As you can see we have highlighted the F/W version - in this case it is the 0225.

Before you connect everything you first need to install the Maximus 360 Lizard Drivers. These are signed and work in Windows XP / Vista / 7 both 32bit and 64bit.

3 Before you connect everything you first need to install the Maximus 360 Lizard Drivers. These are signed and work in Windows XP / Vista / 7 both 32bit and 64bit. These must be installed to your PC prior to connecting lizard to USB port. It's very easy to hook up your Liteon DG-16D4S to your PC. Simply connect the DVD power supply (in this case the Xtractor 3) to the DVD drive (take care to make sure it is fitted the correct way - the wrong way can damage your drive) and to a Molex power cable from your PC or from an external Molex power supply. Then connect the SATA cable from the DVD drive to the Maximus Lizard, and then connect the USB cable from the Maximus Lizard to a USB port on your Netbook/Notebook/Laptop/Desktop computer. Remember that you need to be running at least v1.14 of the MAXIMUS LIZARD firmware and Maximus Toolbox

4 SATA DVD Drive 360 Lizard Power Cable Xtractor 3 OK we are ready to begin: 1. Load up Maximus Toolbox and... (1) Ensure proper COM port is selected (2) Press the Get Device Details button (3) The MAXIMUS LIZARD should be detected and show Serial # and OS Version (Should be 1.14 or newer)

5 2. With everything connect on the Lizard go ahead and send the MTK command. 3. Now on Lizard select the Read Key from Slim Drive. 4. Read Slim Keys 1/3 Turn drive off/on press OK.

6 5. Maximus Lizard will now perform a number of tricks to get the all-important drive key. 6. You will be asked to send the file to the PC using the Maximus Toolbox.

7 7. Since you followed these steps from the beginning the toolbox is all setup, just click on the Receive a file from lizard and save to the location on your PC you want. Click here 8. Everything is now loaded into Maximus Toolbox and you are ready to go. Click on the CFW Generator tab. 1. Click Here and Select LTPlus Click the CFW Save as and save to same folder loaded from.

At this point you will unplug your DVD drive and now connect the Xecuter DG-16D4S Unlocked PCB (or your custom made PCB with the Pro

Make sure that the power cable is the correct way from the Xtractor 3 and that the WP switch is set to "WP=1". Now you are ready to program the PCB. 10. Go to Lizard Write Fw to the DVD Drive follow the prompts and send file to lizard ONCE lizard was the PC Logo, by clicking here. Send from PC to Lizard

9 11. That you have written to Drive we now must LOCK the SPI. 12. On lizard go to the Lock/Unlock Write on Slim Liteon and follow prompts, do a HARD lock. 13. Now MTK the Drive 14. The SPI Lock Status will now change to 0x8C. This means that the Write Protect is now enabled. Move the switch on the PCB to "WP=0" 14. You are now all done
