1 How to Back Up Backing up on itunes & icloud

2 Things to note! If you have an itunes account, you automatically have an icloud account! icloud accounts are free, and more memory can be purchased if user so desires! itunes and icloud can be used to back up ios devices: Macs, iphones, ipads and ipod Touches

3 When you back up! You are creating copies of your documents! You can restore documents if a new device is purchased, if there is a replacement, or device was reset to factory settings

4 Backing up to itunes! Backing up to itunes creates a duplicate of your device on a computer! You will need a Mac or PC with itunes software (free at )

5 Backing up to itunes! Plug in your device (i.e. ipad) to your computer using the charging cable.! Make sure itunes is open on your computer

6 Backing up to itunes! On itunes, if you do not have a visible Sidebar as shown, you can make it visible by going to View -> Show Sidebar! This will be helpful in the backup process

7 Backing up on itunes Once plugged in, your device should appear on the Sidebar

8 Backing up to itunes! Right click on your device and select Back Up, the back up process will begin! Note: If this is your first time backing up your device, you may need to wait several moments. The back up process shortens drastically after multiple backups.

9 Backing up to itunes! After the backup process is complete, you may unplug your device.! It is highly recommended to backup at least once a month, as the most recent version of your device and documents will be saved.! Also, remember to keep your software updated. Devices speak better to one another when they are all at their latest version.

10 Backing up to itunes! In the event that you need to restore everything from your last backup over to a device, you can restore it by plugging in your device and right clicking Restore from Backup.

11 Backing up to itunes! Once clicked select the name of the device and click Restore. It will begin restoring the device from your most recent backup date.

12 Backing up to icloud! icloud is the term used to wirelessly send your documents to Apple s servers so that you may access them from other devices.

13 Backing up to icloud! On your ios device go to the Settings App, and tap on icloud on the left hand side menu.! If you haven t already done so, sign in with your Apple ID (same as your itunes & icloud usernames)

14 Backing up to icloud! From that menu, select Documents & Data! From there you can select the apps whose documents you want sent to icloud.! Note: Select apps that contain important files, as to not waste memory space.

15 Backing up to icloud! Going back to the icloud menu, you can select Manage Storage where you can see how much memory is being used out of the free 5 GB given, or however much you may have optionally purchased.! A recommendation is to turn icloud Backup off as it will use up all of your storage. This is explained on the next page.

16 Backing up on icloud! Backing up on itunes is highly recommended over backing up on icloud as you are making a clone copy of your device, which uses up much storage.! However, you can still have your important documents sent to icloud, without sending your whole device.

17 Backing up to icloud!! If you have multiple ios devices with the same apps being pushed to icloud, you can access them on those devices, and On Pages for even online at Mac icloud.com. The most recent version of your document will be presented there. On Pages for ipad On Pages on a Web Browser

18 Backing up on icloud! With icloud comes the convenience of redownloading any apps you have purchased in the past. Go to the App Store app on your device and on the bottom go to Purchased. There you will be able to download any apps you have purchased without having to buy them again. (The same goes for music and videos on the itunes app)
