1 WebSphere 6.1 with EJB3 Feature Package Installation and Configuration On Windows Introdution This exercise is divided into four parts: Part 1 Install WebSphere Application Server Version 6.1 Part 2 Install EJB 3 Feature Pack Part 3 Add and Delete one Profile Part 4 Install and Test a Web Application Part 5 Configuration of Database Source In this tutorial you must have a copy of WebSphere Application Server 6.1 and its EJB 3.0 Feature Package. You can ask Mr. Michaelsen for a WindowsXP for VMWare with all resources or get a trial Version from IBM Download Center to install it on your own Windows System. In this Guide we use the WindowsXP provided by Mr. Michaelsen. Part 1 Install WebSphere Application Server Version 6.1 This part contains the install of the WebSphere Application Server binaries for Windows. It is a basic install using the install shield GUI, if you have no interest in it or have known it, you can skip over part 1 and jump to Part 2 Install EJB 3 Feature Pack Step 1 Open a Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\LEIPZIG\Desktop\was.cd.6100.wasdev.nocharge.windows. ia32 1/26

2 Step 2 Double click launchpad.bat to launch the setup GUI. Step 3 Select WebSphere Application Server for Developers Installation and click Launch the isnstallation wizard for WebSphere Application Server. Step 4 Review the information on the Welcome screen and click Next 2/26

3 Step 5 Accept the license agreement and click Next. 3/26

4 Step 6 Verify that your system passes the prerequisite check and click Next Step 7 Select install the sample applications to create a new profile with samples, and then click Next. Step 8 Set the install location to C:\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer, then click 4/26

5 Next Step 9 Select Enable administrative security, enter Username and your password 2 times, then click Next. Step 10 The next screen presents a summary of what will be installed. Click Next to begin the installation. 5/26

6 Step 11 Enable Launch the First steps console then click Finish to complete the installation. Step 12 Klick on Installation verification. A window pops up that presents the information of the profile configuration. Waiting until all messages are shown, look for the message The installation Verification Tool verification succeeded. Close the Window. 6/26

7 Part 2 Install EJB 3 Feature Pack Step 1 Open a Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\LEIPZIG\Desktop\EJB3_Setup Step 2 Double click install to launch the installation GUI Step 3 Review the information on the Welcome screen and click Next Step 4 Accept the license and click the Next. 7/26

8 Step 5 Verify that your system passes the prerequisite check and click Next Step 6 Inform setup process where locates the WAS6.1, enter C:\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer and click Next. 8/26

9 Step 7 On the next page click Next. Step 8 After Installation, the next page presents the summary information. Enable Launch the Profile management tool and click Finish to start the Profile Configuration process. 9/26

10 Step 9 Click Augment to start the Configuration and click Next in the following page. Step 10 Select AppSrv01 and click Next Step 11 Select Application server with Feature Pack for EJB 3.0, and then 10/26

11 click Next, on the next page click Next too. Step 12 The page shows the summay for the Augment, click Augment Step 13 Disable Augment another profile and click Finish 11/26

12 Part 3 Add and Delete one Profile Add a Profile Step 1 Click start->programm->ibm WebSphere->Profile Management tool to run the Tools GUI, and then click Create. Step 2 On the next page click Next Step 3 Select Feature Pack for EJB 3.0 and click Next. ( If you select Application server, a Profile will be created too, however, the profile does not support EJB 3.0. ) 12/26

13 Step 4 Do nothing without click Next on the next page Step 5 Select Typical profile creation and click Next Step 6 Repeat Step 9 to Step 12 written in Part 1. Step 7 Click Cancel to terminate the Profile Management tool. 13/26

14 Delete a Profile Step 1 Stop the server Step 2 Open a terminal console, click Start->Run and type cmd in the popup window. Step 3 Change to the WebSphere installation path( it is named as <was_root> in following chapters), in this exercise is C:\IBM\WebSphere, type the command AppServer\bin\manageprofiles.bat -delete -profilename AppSrv02 syntax: manageprofiles.bat -delete -profilename <profile_name> (case sensitive commands) Step 4. Delete the folder e.g. <was_root>\appserver\profiles\appsrv02 Step 5 In the terminal window enter the command AppServer\bin\manageprofiles.bat -validateandupdateregistry This process validates the profile registry and lists the non-valid profiles that it purges. 14/26

15 Part 4 Install and Test a Web Application Step 1 Click Administive console to open the login page using a browser Step 2 Type the username and password in textbox Step 3 Now shows the WAS6.1 Configuration page, click Applications->Install New Application 15/26

16 Step 4 Click choose on right page, and select the file calculator-stateless-ear ear on desktop, then click Next Step 5 Enable Deploy enterprise beans and Allow EJB reference targets to resolve automatically, then click Next 16/26

17 Step 6 Enable the 2 Items and click Next 17/26

18 Step 7 Active the Web module then click Next Step 8 Verify the summary information and click Finish. 18/26

19 Step 9 After the installation of short duration, look for Application Geronimo Sample EAR for Stateless Session installed successfully to confirm your installation is ok and click Save. Step 10 Click Application->Enterprise Applications on left frame to shows the status of applications. Step 11 Enable the item Geronimo Sample EAR for Sateless Session and click start Step 12 After the start, click the item Geronimo Sample EAR for Sateless Session and click Contex Root for Web Modules to get the web context root 19/26

20 Step 13 Open a Web browser and type in the address bar. The result should be as same as the following figure. 20/26

21 Part 5 Configuration of Data Source In this chapter you will learn how to create a db2 data source stored on a remote Z/OS system hobbit.cs.uni-tuebingen.de. Before you begin with this chapter, make sure you have a db2 username and password. In this chapter we use prak224 as username. Note: To make the training written in this chapter, you must use Internet Explorer as web browser. If you use another web browser, such as Firefox, Opera, may be meet problem on some steps. Step 1 Click Administive console to open the login page using a browser. Step 2 Type the username and password in textbox, then click login button. Step 3 Now we create a WebShere Variable db2_driver_path with value c:\lib, where application server can find all needed driver packages, such as db2jcc.jar. Click Environment->WebSphereVariables on the left page, then click New to add this variable. 21/26

22 Step 4 Create a JDBC Provider. Click Resources-> JDBC -> JDBC Providers on the left page, and then click New to create a new JDBC Provider. Step 5 On the next page we choose DB2 as Database Type and DB2 Universal JDBC Driver Provider as Provider Type, click Next. 22/26

23 Step 6 In the both Textbox type ${db2_driver_path} to tell the application server where locate the needed driver classes. The next page shows the summary information of this setting. Click Finish and Save to end this setting. 23/26

24 Step 7 Create a data source. Click Resources->JDBC -> Data souces on the left page and then click New Step 8 Type hobbit as Data source name and jdbc/db2 as JNDI name, click Next Step 9 On the next page active Select an existing JDBC provider and choose DB2 Universal JDBC Driver Provider, click Next 24/26

25 Step 10 On the next page, type S1D931 as Database name, choose 4 for Driver type, the Server name is that uses Port number The next page shows the summary information for this setting. Click Finish and Save to end this setting. Step 11 Now in the list of Data sources there is a new entry hobbit, click it to open the configuration page. Step 12 To connect with the DB2 datasource, we must give the username and password. Click Custom properties to add 2 items user and password. 25/26

26 Step 13 Click New to add property user. In this chapter we enter prak224 as value, you must enter your own username getting from the DB2 administrator. Click Apply and Save. Click New once again to set the password. Step 14 Testing the Connetion. Click Data sources on the left page and then click hobbit entry on the right page. Click Test connection, if you configurate the all setting right, you will get a message same as the following figure. 26/26
