1 Moving the ShipGear Admin This document outlines the step by step procedure for moving the ShipGear Admin from one machine to another. The ShipGear Admin is comprised of the ShipGear Admin Console and Database. The outlined steps assume that the existing ShipGear Admin version and the version that will be installed are the same. If you do not have a ShipGear database backup to restore or are not concerned about preserving your history, please skip to Section D. On the current ShipGear 4 Admin machine, run the Admin Console. Click Start > All Programs > ShipGear Admin > Console. 11/5/2014 Migrating ShipGear 4 Admin to a New Machine 1

2 2. Click on Database Maintenance > Backup > Perform Manual Backup. 3. If using enotify, click on the enotify Database tab, then click Perform Manual Backup. 4. Once Backup is completed, make a note of the Destination location. This is where the backup file is located. 5. Navigate to the location noted from the Destination path and find the SGBAK file with the most recent date. 11/5/2014 Migrating ShipGear 4 Admin to a New Machine 2

3 6. Copy this file to a location accessible to the new Admin machine. (Network share, Flash drive, etc) 7. Click on Services > ShipGear Server, and then Stop All Services. Section D Install ShipGear Admin on new PC and restore database 8. 4 9. Review the ShipGear license agreement then click I Agree. 10. Select the Destination folder for ShipGear, then click Next. 11/5/2014 Migrating ShipGear 4 Admin to a New Machine 4

7 15. You can install a ShipGear Client by choosing your ERP System and clicking Next to proceed 16. Click Finish to complete the Client installation. 11/5/2014 Migrating ShipGear 4 Admin to a New Machine 7

8 17. Once the Admin installation is complete on the new machine, run the Admin Console. Click Start > All Programs > ShipGear Admin > Console. 18. Click on Database Maintenance > Restore, then click the Source Folder dropdown menu and choose the location you copied your SGBAK file to. In the Backup File to restore from dropdown menu choose the SGBAK you created. Now click Restore Data. 11/5/2014 Migrating ShipGear 4 Admin to a New Machine 8

9 19. If using enotify, repeat Step 10 with the SGBAK file created with the enotify SGBAK file. Section E Point ShipGear Client/s to the new ShipGear Admin 20. Open ShipGear Exchange, then click OK to bypass the connection error. 21. 10 Section F Uninstall ShipGear on the OLD Admin PC 22. Go back to your old ShipGear 4 Admin machine and uninstall the ShipGear 4 Admin located there. 23. Choose the default Automatic and click Next. 11/5/2014 Migrating ShipGear 4 Admin to a New Machine 10

12 Section G Special considerations for migrating Dashboard workspace templates If using ShipGear Dashboard on the old ShipGear Admin and have workspace templates/views configured, it is necessary to copy the Dashboard folders to the corresponding location on the new server to preserve those settings. This will restore the previously configured/customized Dashboard workspace views. 1. From the ShipGear Admin PC being decommissioned, locate and save a copy the entire Dashboard folder. Location of the folders by operating system are as follows: Dashboard a. Windows XP/Server C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\V- Technologies\ShipGear\Dashboard\ b. Server 2008/Server C:\ProgramData\V-Technologies\ShipGear\Dashboard\ 2. Save the copied folders to the corresponding location on the new ShipGear Admin 3.
