This workbook is designed for use in Live instructor-led training and for OnDemand selfstudy. The explanations and demonstrations are provided by the instructor in the classroom, or in the OnDemand electures of this course available on the Bentley LEARN Server (learn.bentley.com). This practice workbook is formatted for on-screen viewing using a PDF reader. It is also available as a PDF document in the dataset for this course. Producing Project Deliverables: Creating a Plan Set This workbook contains exercises to generate a plan set. There are several ways to create a set of plans from geometry; however only one is best depending on the data and standards followed. Note: The exercises are meant to be worked on either in order of exercises in each Practice Workbook or as individual standalone exercises. You can start at any exercise. Within a subdirectory of the dataset called Milestones there are files named for each individual exercise; begin by using that particular file. 3 Description and Objectives Course Description This workbook contains exercises to compose a plan set. We ll first start off by creating a design composition, which is bringing together the various pieces of project data such as topography, utilities, proposed features, etc. In turn, we will reference the design composition and create Sheet models. Furthermore, we will embellish the sheets with necessary annotation like the drawing scale, north arrow, title block information and match lines between the cut-sheets. Skills Taught Creating Sheet Models Annotating the Sheet via Text Fields Placing Cells for Sheet-Specific Symbols Attaching References Reference Manipulation Clipping a Reference Creating Saved Views and Name Fences Creating the Plan Set - Design Composition After the project design files have been created, it is time to create a design composition. A composition may also be known as a Layout or Motif. The purpose of this composition is to bring together the individual project components into a single location by referencing them into a 2D or 3D model. In this section, we will compose our project data that will eventually be referenced to the cut-sheets. Attaching References View Modifications

Creating the Plan Set - Creating the Cut-Sheets In this type of workflow, our project data is at full scale while the border is scaled-up. However, at the given print scale of 1 =50 our project does not fit with the border. In this section, we will create the adjacent cut-sheet. Note: For the purposes of these exercises, we are just using MicroStation. It is worth mentioning that Bentley s Civil applications have specific tools to generate cut-sheets based upon a corridor. For example, InRoads has the Plan and Profile Generator, and GEOPAK the Plan/Profile Sheet Composition tools. It would be better suited to use these tools if these applications are available to you for this type of effort. 35 Creating a Sheet model Reference Manipulation Placing a Cell Editing Text 1. Now that we re finished created the first sheet, create the next adjacent sheet. Begin by opening the Models dialog and then pick the icon for Copy a Model. Copyright 2014 Bentley Systems, Incorporated DO NOT DISTRIBUTE - Printing for student use is permitted 35

2. In the Copy Model dialog, change the station range to to and remove the Copy of prefix from the Name field. Click OK. 3. With the newly copied model selected with the Models dialog, select the Edit Model Properties icon. 4. Copy (Ctrl + C) all of the text from the Name field of the Model Properties dialog and then overwrite the entire field by Pasting (Ctrl + V) in the Sheet Name Field. Also, change the Sheet Number to 65 and then click OK. Copyright 2014 Bentley Systems, Incorporated DO NOT DISTRIBUTE - Printing for student use is permitted 36

Open the Level Display, select the Plan Composition model and turn the level Clip Boundary back on (blue background). 7. Open the References dialog and select the Plan Composition model. Choose the Clip Reference tool and data point on the green shape on the right portion of the sheet as shown. Copyright 2014 Bentley Systems, Incorporated DO NOT DISTRIBUTE - Printing for student use is permitted 37

8. Next we need to move in two different steps. First, the sheet annotation such as the Match Line, Scale Bar, North Arrow and Title Block information to the adjacent sheet. Then in another step we need to move the Sheet Border and Boundary. 9. Make the Element Selection tool active and choose the Select All mode. Copyright 2014 Bentley Systems, Incorporated DO NOT DISTRIBUTE - Printing for student use is permitted 38

10. Select the Move Element tool from the Main Task. Snap to the upper-left corner of the Sheet border and provide a data point. 42 Creating the Plan Set - Continuing the Cut-Sheets through the Curve Section So far we ve created Cut-Sheets 64 through 67 which was the tangent section of our corridor. The next three sheets are through the curve section of the corridor. The steps for creating the Cut-Sheets are generally the same, although addition steps to rotate the sheet and it s respective annotation are needed. Creating the Plan Set - Referencing the Cross Sections using Named Fences Named fences provide another alternative to Saved Views as a means to reference an area from a source dgn. However, Named Fences will only encompass the area and not preserve any of the View Attributes that would normally make up a Saved View. For example, display style.
