2 Polycom H.264 Facts Polycom was the first manufacturer to provide customers with the benefits of the H.264 video compression algorithm in February Polycom s H.264 leadership is recognized by the joint standard bodyb for contributing critical intellectual property to the ITU-T T H.264 standard Check their site at mpeg-la.rwk0_dsb.html You will not see Tandberg, Aethra, Huawei or VCON credited as such Polycom fully supports standard-based H.264 with release 6.0 for the ipower (9000, 900, 600) and ViewStation (FX, EX, VS4000) and will interoperate over IP and ISDN Some Tandberg releases that support H.264 will NOT interoperate over IP Early software releases for Sony PCS-1 1 do not interoperate with other manufacturers

5 Tips to Demo Polycom H.264 Have the customer compare set-top top to set-top top Tandberg tries to compare the 6000 to the VSX ($23k+ v. $6k???) T6000 has an additional processor so it looks better than 770/880/990 0/990 Test with Tandberg (near and far end) to Polycom (near and far end) e For exact video comparison, use an amplified video splitter from one camera source into both the Polycom and Tandberg codecs Compare the VSX to the 770/880/990 and the ipower to the 6000 Tandberg set-top top video quality looks blocky, background cleanup is slow/poor and complete images distort when hands cross over face Have the customer receive Tandberg DuoVideo and Polycom People+Content Tandberg will likely try to demo DuoVideo as the host site Tandberg video quality looks considerably worse at receive site since sending codec is doing more work to process video and content Tandberg can t send/receive H.264 video in DuoVideo calls and drops video back to H.263, reducing video quality at receive end Benefits of having an additional processor in the Visual Concert are highly obvious

6 Tips to Demo Polycom H.264 Have the customer receive DuoVideo with host using the Aux Cam as the video source Tandberg still can t send/receive H.264 video in DuoVideo calls Tandberg video drops to H.263 4CIF; video quality and frame rate plummet Compare also to the ipower system. Have the customer receive DuoVideo and ipower People+Content ipower content has higher image quality due to H.264 compression ipower has patent-pending pending technology for sharing content at higher frame rates
