29 Managing Active Conferences Ending a Conference You may need to end a conference when: Bandwidth or devices are required for another conference. It was cancelled. It ended early. Technical difficulties occur that you cannot resolve. To end a scheduled conference 1 Choose Monitoring > Conferences to display the list of conferences. 2 Select the active conference you want to end and click Manage. 3 On the Manage Active Conference screen, click End Conference. The conference appears on the Scheduled Conferences screen with a Past status. 4 Click Close. You return to the Conference Monitoring screen. Changing the Video Mode Layout The initial video mode setting determines the initial screen layout on an endpoint's monitor for a multipoint conference that requires an MCU. The available layouts are: Switching. Indicates that the display changes each time the speaker changes, and everyone sees the current speaker. Continuous Presence. Displays several panels on the screen, each showing a different participant, and allows one to see all meeting participants at once. You can select a specific layout, with a certain number of windows open. Each panel requires a different port. If you select more windows than there are participants, extra windows display with a background color. Auto or Automatic layout is a type of Continuous Presence layout, in which the number of participants determines the number of panels and required ports. Switching requires fewer MCU resources than Continuous Presence, which displays multiple video streams. For more information about switching, see the MGC documentation. Switching is not supported on RMX 2000 devices. Polycom, Inc. 23

30 ReadiManager Operator s Guide In some instances, you can change the video mode layout for active conferences being hosted on MGC or RMX 2000 devices. The initial video mode layout for a conference is determined when the conference is scheduled. The video layout options discussed here are shown in Figure 4-3 on page 25. On MCU-hosted conferences: If the initial video mode setting for the active conference was Switching or Transcoding (only available on MGC devices), you cannot change the video mode layout. If the initial video mode setting for the active conference was Classic Continuous Presence, then three Quad View video layouts are disabled and 21 Classic layouts are enabled. Note The MGC does not allow switching between Classic and Quad View Continuous Presence modes for an active conference. If the initial video mode setting for the active conference was Quad View Continuous Presence, then three Quad View layouts are enabled. Additionally, the Classic layouts listed below are enabled. Full screen 1x2 2x1 2x2 3x3 If the initial video mode setting for the active conference was any type of Continuous Presence, then you can also select Automatic Layout, and the system will use the number of participants to determine the number of panels and required ports To change the video layout of an active conference 1 Choose Monitoring > Conferences to display the list of conferences. 2 Select the active conference for which you want to change the video layout and click Manage. 3 On the Manage Active Conference screen, click Conf Properties. The Conference Properties dialog box appears.
