New Features Following are the major new features and resolved issues in this release. Refer to your LifeSize product documentation for more information about using the product. Feature Audio Codecs Camera Improvements Audio improvements Tandberg interoperability AES interoperability Description Polycom Siren14 (G.722.1C) is included in this release. Siren 7 (G.722.1) is no longer included. Camera functionality has been enhanced in this release including smoother focus, exposure, and stability. The ability to lock the camera preventing PTZ functionality is also included. This release includes improved speaker volume, frequency content, and noise reduction on the phone. PSTN calls have improved speech detection, volume, noise reduction, and handling of quiet speech. Improvements for better interoperability with Tandberg (staticmaxmpbs) are included in this release. AES interoperability is now supported with Polycom ViewStation FX, Polycom VSX family, Tandberg MXP family, and Tandberg Classic family. Known Issues The following table lists known issues and their solutions or workarounds, if available. Numbers in parentheses following an issue are used for internal tracking purposes only. Issue/Problem Packet loss statistics not reported. (END-4297) Certificate message always displays. (END-4515) Flickering or pulsating of fluorescent lights. (END- 2027) Description/Workaround Packet loss statistics may be incorrect with any entity that does not send RTCP reports. Internet Explorer 7 displays a certificate error message at the top of the LifeSize interface at all times. You can safely disregard this message. Some camera exposure settings designed to be used in rooms lit by sunlight may flicker. To remove the flicker, adjust brightness to a higher number (brighter). Product Features and Limitations The following table lists known limitations with this LifeSize product. Numbers in parentheses following an issue are used for internal tracking purposes only. Feature Default entries in the Redial table and Directory. (END-3978) Support or Limitation To assist you in testing your LifeSize videoconferencing system configuration, the following default entries appear in the Redial table and Directory for a new system, a system reset to defaults, or a system upgrade: Aquarium HD (fishtank.lifesize.com) Gumballs (gumballs.lifesize.com) To use these entries, you must first specify a DNS server in Administrator Preferences : Network or use DHCP that automatically sets a DNS server. If a DNS server is not configured, a call to either of these entries will show the call status as unavailable, because the call cannot resolve to the IP address. 4

Feature Analog phone line connection (PSTN RJ-11) on LifeSize codec is not supported in China. Remote input selection of second camera. (END-3697) Caller ID support. (END-1201) System throughput limitation. (END-3667, END-4289, END-4443) Support or Limitation Support for the analog phone line connection (PSTN RJ-11) on the back of the LifeSize codec is not available in China in this release. The analog phone line connection on LifeSize codecs shipped to China is blocked. Earlier versions of LifeSize systems do not show Main Camera 2 as a far end camera source when in a call with a LifeSize Room v2.5.0 system that has two cameras. To resolve this issue, upgrade earlier versions to v Caller ID of PSTN calls during call waiting is not supported. The maximum supported bandwidth for calls with AES disabled: Point-to-point, with and without presentation support: 5000 kb/s. 3-way calls, with and without presentation support: 2500 kb/s. 4-way calls: 1472 Kb/s. Manually setting display type to VGA can cause the LifeSize user interface to not display. (END-2000) VGA to S-Video or Composite cables are not supported. (END-4557) Do not connect any devices to LifeSize Phone. (END-972) Calling your own system. (END-1560) Poor quality video with half duplex Ethernet switch setting and calls greater than 512 Kb/s. (END-3454) Some functions fail from outside a firewall with static NAT. (END-2833 and END-2857) Disrupted VGA input resolution. (END-4485) The maximum supported bandwidth for calls with AES enabled: Point-to-point, with and without presentation support: 4000 kb/s. 3-way calls, with and without presentation support: 1728 kb/s. 4-way calls: 512 kb/s. LifeSize systems can fail to display the user interface after you manually set the display output type to VGA. To work around this issue, reboot your LifeSize system with the VGA monitor connected to the system. 4x3 aspect TV using SD inputs is not supported on either display. Audio fails when you connect a laptop to a LifeSize Phone network port. Do not connect LifeSize Phone to anything except a LifeSize codec. Calling your own LifeSize Room system is not supported and results in infinite looping of windows in your display. Calling your own LifeSize Team system is not supported and results in a busy signal. Calling a device multiple times in the same call also results in a similar result and is not supported. If you select Auto for the Administrator Preferences : Network : Network Speed preference and your Ethernet switch is configured for half duplex, you may experience poor quality video when placing calls greater than 512 Kb/s. To work around this issue, change your Ethernet switch configuration to a setting other than half duplex when using Auto for the Network Speed preference. The following functions are not supported if your system is accessed from a web browser outside a firewall and static NAT is enabled: - System Upgrade - Directory Import - Access to LifeSize Networker - Background Image Import To work around this issue, execute these functions from within the firewall. You may experience disrupted resolution when the display returns from screen saver. To resolve any distortion, change the resolution back to 1280x1024 for the VGA input or unplug and re-plug it back in. 5

Feature Support or Limitation Block ports or create secure Ensure that you deploy your system behind a firewall and block (at a passwords. (END-2217) minimum) the following ports: ssh http https If you require these ports to remain open, ensure you change the default administrator and CLI passwords to be very secure. Unknown upgrade error in web interface. (END-1868) Reopen your web browser after upgrade or downgrade to view the web interface. (END-3779) Do not position an external microphone too close to the phone loudspeaker. (END-1563) When upgrading your LifeSize software from a web browser, you may receive a numbered error message. Attempt the upgrade again or contact Support if you need assistance. To view and access all options in the web interface included in this release, if you are upgrading from a previous release or downgrading from this release to a previous release, close and then reopen your web browser after performing the upgrade or downgrade. When downgrading, you must clear your browser cache. When using an external microphone, do not place the microphone less than 5 feet away from the loudspeaker. Also, ensure the external microphone gain is not set too high or clipping distortion or far-end slapback echo may occur. Maintaining camera brightness after upgrading. (END-4735) To maintain the same brightness setting after upgrading from LifeSize software version 2.5, increase the Camera Brightness preference by 5. Interoperability Limitations The following table lists known limitations with third party products. Numbers in parentheses following an issue are used for internal tracking purposes only. Feature General Third Party Issues: Limitation AES interoperability between LifeSize versions. (END-4922) Audio/video may be affected when registered to different gatekeepers. (END-2871) SIP multi-point calls with third-party devices are not supported. (END-2993) Calls from LifeSize version 2.6 to version 2.5 are unsupported when AES is enabled. Audio and video may be affected in calls with LifeSize systems and thirdparty devices that are registered to different gatekeepers. SIP multi-point calls with third-party devices are not supported. SIP multipoint calls between LifeSize systems and point-to-point with third party devices are supported. Tandberg: Invalid H.323 extension. (END-4495) Encrypted calls with Tandberg devices are unsupported. (END-4903) Calling a Tandberg from a LifeSize system leaves an invalid H.323 extension as the callback number if both devices are not registered to a Gatekeeper. Encrypted calls with Tandberg devices at and above 1024k are not supported. Polycom: 6

Feature ipower 9000 unsupported. (END-4885) Video fails when changing presentations with VSX7000. (END-4514) Using video switching mode, MGC does not forward video correctly to all participants. (END-4280) Interoperability limitation with Polycom MGC. (END- 4395) Older firmware on Polycom interoperability issues. (END-1925) Far end camera control does not operate properly with Polycom VSX8000. (END- 2807) LifeSize displays cloudy video with Polycom VSX8000. (END-3153) No video from Polycom VSX7000 (release 8.0.3) in a SIP call at 1MB. (END- 3042) Polycom Welcome Screen unsupported on LifeSize devices. (END-4266) Poor quality video in calls with Polycom VSX3000 as the MCU. (END-3981) Desktop sharing with Polycom PVX must have H.239 enabled and People+Content disabled. (END-3926) H.239 presentation unsupported with MGC. (END-3802) Video and audio out of sync with Polycom MGC. (END- 4265) Limitation The Polycom ipower 9000 and LifeSize systems fail to properly negotiate a mutually agreed upon audio codec. When you dial Polycom VSX7000 during a current presentation and restart the presentation, video may fail. To work around this issue, stop the current presentation before starting a new one. When connecting LifeSize participants on the Polycom MGC at 512Kb/s or 768Kb/s using video switching mode, the MGC does not forward the video correctly to all participants. For bit rates below 512Kb/s or above 768Kb/s the video switching mode works appropriately. Presentations with Polycom MGC are unsupported in this release. You may need to disable H.239 to properly interoperate with older versions of firmware on Polycom equipment. When LifeSize Room is a participant in a multi-way call where the MCU is Polycom VSX8000, the far end camera control from LifeSize Room may not control the Polycom VSX8000's camera. LifeSize displays cloudy video on the top half of the screen due to a noncompliant bit stream from Polycom VSX8000 when you switch to the far end camera on the Polycom system as the active source. To work around this issue, hang up and retry the call. Video does not display in LifeSize in a SIP call at 1Mb/s bandwidth with Polycom VS7000 (release 8.0.3). To workaround this issue, upgrade the Polycom system to release 8.5. When LifeSize connects to a conference on the Polycom MGC with IVR, the Polycom Welcome screen does not display. The welcome screen video is transmitted in H.261 which LifeSize devices do not support. You may experience poor quality video in calls with Polycom VSX3000 as the MCU if the Monitors control on the Polycom system is set to Presentations. To work around this issue, ensure that the Monitors control on the Polycom system is set to Discussion. When using desktop sharing with Polycom PVX, H.239 must be enabled on the PVX and People+Content disabled. If both are enabled, the LifeSize system will not display correctly. Receiving H.239 presentations is not supported in LifeSize systems with Polycom MGC as the MCU. Any device that is connected to the Polycom MGC at 128 Kb/s will result in audio being out of sync with video. This problem is not specific to LifeSize. 7

Feature Devices in which G.728 audio is not supported or is disabled may not receive video from Polycom VSX release 8.5. (END-3168) Sony: Presentations (H.239) with Sony devices unsupported. (END-2400) Limitation LifeSize systems, which do not support G728 audio, and third-party devices in which G.728 audio is supported but disabled, may fail to receive video from Polycom VSX7000 and VSX8000 (release 8.5) during a call. If this occurs, reset the Polycom system to its factory defaults. LifeSize systems do not support presentations (H.239) with SONY devices. Cisco: H.239 may not work through your CISCO PIX firewall/asa Device. (END- 1611) Call forward and voic on CME works only with Cisco Phones. (END-3320) The Cisco fixup protocol does not recognize H.239 and terminates a call if it attempts to open an H.239 stream. The fixup protocol (Application Level Gateway) H.323 command provides support for H.323-compliant devices. The PIX Firewall version 5.3 through version 6.2 support H.323 version 2. PIX Firewall/ASA version 6.3 and 7 support H.323 version 3 and version 4. If you have a PIX firewall/asa device and are using it to manage the H.323 protocol, you may experience any of the following conditions. If you are using the H.323 fixup protocol and your version of the PIX firewall only supports H.323 version 2 endpoints: The calls always negotiate to H.263 CIF resolution instead of H.263 HD resolution, and the calls always negotiate to an audio algorithm other than AAC. If you are using any known version of the Cisco PIX/ASA H.323 fixup protocol, presentations fail and will likely cause the call to terminate. To work around this issue, configure NAT/firewall settings based on information in you LifeSize user guide, and then turn off the fixup protocol. LifeSize does not currently support the Cisco proprietary SCCP protocol required to use call forwarding or voic with the Cisco IP Phone.
