Upgrading to this Release Update your installation regularly to avoid security or other issues arising. When upgrading, perform the following procedures to help protect your computer against the most common causes of system crashes, slow performance, and damaged data: Check your file system for errors using CHKDSK; Defragment your hard disk using a standard defrag tool; Ensure that your anti-virus software is up to date and does not apply SNMP blocking. Installing ECS for the First Time This procedure describes how to install the ECS for the first time. Before you begin Check these requirements: Ensure you install the ECS only on a local drive, not the network with enough disk space. For more information, see the Reference Guide for SCOPIA ECS. Ensure that you install the Windows SNMP Service before installing the ECS. If not, installation is aborted. ECS installation is on Port 80 by default. Port 80 is unavailable to any HTTP server. You can change the default ECS installation port by modifying the webs.ini file located after installation by default at C:\Program Files\RADVISION\Shared Applications\Web Server. You have to restart ECS WEB service or reboot the machine for changes to take effect. For more information, see the Reference Guide for Port Security Version 7.7. Caution: Consult RADVISION Customer Support before installing additional Microsoft software packages. Procedure RADVISION Release Notes Rev P04 SCOPIA Enhanced Communication Server 4

Installation begins and the installation status screen displays. When the installation process finishes, the Installation Complete screen displays. Click Finish to exit the installation wizard. Upgrading from Version 7.x to Version 7.7 RADVISION Release Notes Rev P04 SCOPIA Enhanced Communication Server 5
The following section describes how to upgrade from ECS version 7.x to version 7.7. You can directly upgrade the following 7.x versions to version 7.7: Version Version Version Version Version Before You Begin Before upgrading the ECS, it is important to back up the current ECS configuration by exporting the configuration settings. RADVISION recommends that no endpoints be registered to the ECS while exporting configuration details, including predefined endpoint information. Unregister all predefined endpoints before exporting configuration details. Install ECS upgrades on the same local drive as the existing installation. Step 1 Step 2 Access the ECS web interface as an administrator. Select Export in the toolbar. The following settings are not exported: Bind to specific IP parameter (in Settings > Basics) Send H.245 address in Setup message parameter (Settings > Calls) If the endpoint belongs to a group with its own defined services, allowed and disallowed service settings for predefined endpoints are not exported. Procedure Step 1 Step 2 If you use the standalone software version, copy the RADVISION.ECS exe file to your local machine, and then run the file. If you use the RADVISION server version, start the VNC Viewer and log in to view the RADVISION server. In the RADVISION server, locate and double-click the RADVISION.ECS exe file. The Welcome screen displays. RADVISION Release Notes Rev P04 SCOPIA Enhanced Communication Server 6
Step 3 Step 4 Click Next. The License Key dialog box appears showing your existing license key. Installation begins and the installation status screen displays. When the installation process finishes, the Installation Complete screen displays. Click Finish to exit the installation wizard. Importing Your Saved Configuration After the installation process is complete and you have exited the installation wizard, import your saved configuration settings. Procedure Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Uninstalling the RADVISION ECS Click the Import button in the ECS Administrator toolbar to restore your saved ECS configuration settings. In the Import a Configuration File window, browse to your saved configuration file. Click Import to upload your configuration file settings. The following settings are not imported: Bind to specific IP parameter (in Settings > Basics) Send H.245 address in Setup message parameter (Settings > Calls) If the endpoint belongs to a group with its own defined services, Allowed and disallowed service settings for predefined endpoints are not imported. Refer to the Getting Started chapter of the Enhanced Communication Server (ECS) Reference Guide. RADVISION Release Notes Rev P04 SCOPIA Enhanced Communication Server 7
Resolved Issues The following issues were resolved in this version: Stability fix resolved memory leak in the ECS Database that sometimes resulted in call failures. ECS service now always restarts automatically upon manual reboot. Import/Export operates properly when there are predefined endpoints configured in the system. Polycom HDX and Polycom RMX now open correctly the video channels on call initiation. Stability fix ECS H.245 module continues to operate properly after extended periods of operation. Stability fix ECS accepts new registrations even under heavy loads. The ECS didn t allow configuring a predefined endpoint with the same IP/port for both the RAS and Signaling addresses. This is allowed and supported in this release. Installing a New License Before installing a new license, the administrator must back up the ECS configuration, as described in Upgrading from Version 7.x to Version 7.7. In very rare cases, the ECS might lose its configuration and you will need to restore it. After installing a new license, the administrator must restart the ECS or reboot the computer. When working with two NIC cards in your server, do not disable the IP address of the NIC that was used for generating the license key. Known Issues On rare occasions the ECS service is stopped when retrieving the ECS CsPackage. This situation occurs only in Windows Line hunting fails when two or more gateways are registered to the ECS, and one of the gateways returns a destinationrejection reason in the Release Complete message. In such cases, the ECS attempts to connect calls only via the gateway which returns the RADVISION Release Notes Rev P04 SCOPIA Enhanced Communication Server 8
Release Complete message and ignores other registered gateways. The gkalternoredundancy SNMP trap is cleared and resent approximately every 30 seconds if the master and slave gatekeeper licenses allow different capacities. You must reboot your computer after performing these settings: o Adding or modifying an IP address o Binding to a specific IP address o Modifying the NIC definition in the ECS. The operating system does not provide a prompt before rebooting in this case. You cannot view log files via the FTP server when working with Windows Solve this problem by enabling an anonymous user in the IIS settings. When using predefined endpoints: o o After changing the DHCP mode setting, you must redefine the endpoints. If you change the setting of the DHCP environment in the zone checkbox in the Basics section of the Settings tab after defining the endpoints, the endpoints do not register successfully. Predefined endpoints fail to register when the ECS working mode changes from DHCP to non-dhcp mode and vice versa. DHCP mode in the ECS is different than the TCP/IP DHCP mode. ECS DHCP is a mode of operation in which the ECS can accept more than one registration from the same IP address. (To enable this mode, select the DHCP checkbox.) This issue occurs in Windows 2003 and Windows XP: when stopping and starting the ECS service in a loaded system and a low-end server, you receive Microsoft error message To recover and restart ECS, restart the server. Changing the default ECS installation port (port 80) causes incorrect operation of the web interface for the Product Family Entry Point. Forwarding fails when working with endpoints that support encryption in H.245 routed mode. Forwarding fails when fast start is used. RADVISION Release Notes Rev P04 SCOPIA Enhanced Communication Server 9
When a neighbor gatekeeper has two zone prefixes, the gatekeeper check boxes appear unchecked when you re-edit inter-zone rules. In certain cases the displayed number of registered endpoints in the system menu is inaccurate. Click on the Refresh button to display the right number. Deployments Tips When using Alternate ECS, both the main and alternate ECS servers must be connected on the same physical network segment (on same leg of the router). When prefix stripping is disabled, endpoints can register with the ECS by using only a number that begins with the zone prefix. When predefining an endpoint in ECS, new services are declined by default. To allow an endpoint to use a service, you must enable the service in the Predefined Endpoint Properties dialog box in the Endpoints tab. The permissions of an ECS Global service can be changed while the service is online. Note that the search function in the Endpoints tab is case-sensitive. To hide the Product Family Entry Point interface when accessing ECS, modify the homepage line in the webs.ini file from admin/net/default.asp to admin/gk/default.asp. Note that forwarding/fallback rules are case-sensitive. Verify that the latest Java applet version is installed in the client accessing the ECS. Known Interoperability Issues H.245 channels are not connected when a Cisco (Tandberg) Codian MCU calls via ECS. Video IVR does not function properly with LifeSize endpoints running version 4.0 and below. Upgrading the LifeSize endpoints to a later version resolves the issue. Video may not display correctly when calling a SCOPIA MCU from an external Cisco (Tandberg) C Series endpoint. Contact RADVISION Customer Support for more information. When using Windows 2003, redialing from Cisco (Tandberg) endpoints may fail. To solve this issue, configure the dynamic port allocation on the Cisco (Tandberg) endpoint.
