2 Abstract After installing Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter, you can choose to change the password of the Proactive Monitoring database user. You need to update the passwords in the configured connections and the properties files in RulePoint and Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter. This article describes the steps that you must follow to change the password. Start the Node Agent Instance Overview You can change the password of the Proactive Monitoring database user after installing Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter. To change the password of the database user, perform the following steps: 1. Undeploy all the objects from the PMPC project. 2. Update the password in the topology configuration. 3. Stop the Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter instance. 4. Stop the node agent instance. 5. Change the password of the Proactive Monitoring user in the database. 6. Encrypt the password that you want to use for the Proactive Monitoring database user. 7. Update the properties files in RulePoint with the new encrypted password. 8. Update the properties files in Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter with the new encrypted password. 9. Start the Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter instance. 10. Update the passwords in the connections of the PMPC project. 2

3 11. Deploy the objects from the PMPC project. 12. Start the node agent instance. Step 1. Undeploy the Objects You must first undeploy all the objects from the PMPC project. 1. Log in to the RulePoint Console with the credentials, Administrator/Administrator1. 2. Select the project, PMPC. 3. From the Actions menu, select Undeploy > Rules, Sources & Responders. 4. Select all the objects, such as rules, template rules, sources, and responders, and click Undeploy. Step 2. Update the Password in the Topology Update the database password in the topology property configuration from the RulePoint Console. 1. On the Administration tab of the RulePoint Console, click the Topology view. 2. In the navigator, click Topology: Proactive_Monitoring. 3. From the menu, select Edit. 4. In the Properties section, update the password for the database user. 5. Click Save. Step 3. Stop the Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter Instance Before you update the passwords in RulePoint and Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter, stop the Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter instance. 1. Go to the following directory where the script is located: <PROACTIVE_MONITORING_HOME>/bin 2. To stop the Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter instance on Windows or UNIX, run the script from the command prompt based on your environment: On Windows, enter the following command: solutions.bat stop On UNIX, enter the following command: solutions.sh stop Step 4. Stop the Node Agent Instance Before you update the passwords in RulePoint and Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter, stop the node agent instance on the PowerCenter hosts that you monitor. u To stop the node agent instance on Windows or UNIX, run the script from the command prompt: On Windows, run the following command: nodeagent.bat stop On UNIX, run the following command: nodeagent.sh stop 3

4 Step 5. Change the Password of the Proactive Monitoring User in the Database As a database administrator, you must change the password of the Proactive Monitoring user. 1. Log in to the database as database administrator. 2. Change the password of the Proactive Monitoring user. Step 6. Encrypt the Password You must encrypt the password before you update the properties files with the new password. Use the password utility to encrypt the password. The password must not have special characters or begin with a number. Before you run the password utility, you must set up the JAVA_HOME and RULEPOINT_CMD_HOME environment variables. Set JAVA_HOME to <PROACTIVE_MONITORING_HOME>/rulepoint/system/jre and RULEPOINT_CMD_HOME to <PROACTIVE_MONITORING_HOME>/rulepoint/tools/rpcmd. 1. In the command prompt, switch to the <PROACTIVE_MONITORING_HOME>/rulepoint/tools/rpcmd/bin directory that contains the passwordutil executable. 2. To encrypt the password, run the following command, followed by the command name and the required options and arguments: In Windows, run passwordutil.bat encrypt <password in plain text format>. In UNIX, to change the permissions for passwordutil.sh, run Chmod +x passwordutil.sh. To encrypt the password, run passwordutil.sh encrypt <password in plain text format>. Step 7. Update the Password in the Properties Files in RulePoint Update the properties files in RulePoint with the new encrypted password. 1. Navigate to the <PROACTIVE_MONITORING_HOME>/rulepoint/conf directory and update the jdbc.password in the cs.properties file with the new password. 2. Navigate to <PROACTIVE_MONITORING_HOME>/rulepoint/design/webapps/rulepoint/WEB-INF/classes and update the following values in the properties file with the new password: a. Update db.password in the jdbc.properties file. b. Update dashboard.artifacts.db.password in the jdbc.dashboard.properties file. c. Update jdbc.password in the cs.properties file. 3. Navigate to <PROACTIVE_MONITORING_HOME>/rulepoint/design/webapps/RTAM/WEB-INF/classes and update the following values in the properties file with the new password: a. Update hibernate.password and auth.db.password in the rtam-config.properties file. b. Update jdbc.password in the cs.properties file. 4

5 Step 8. Update the Password in the Properties Files in Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter Update the properties files in Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter with the new encrypted password. 1. Navigate to the <PROACTIVE_MONITORING_HOME>/rulepoint/design/webapps/pmpc/WEB-INF/classes directory. 2. Update the value of db.password in the jdbc.properties file. Step 9. Start the Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter Instance After you update the password, you must start the Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter instance for the changes to take effect. 1. Go to the following directory where the script is located: <PROACTIVE_MONITORING_HOME>/bin 2. To start the Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter instance on Windows or UNIX, run the script from the command prompt based on your environment: On Windows, enter the following command: solutions.bat start On UNIX, enter the following command: solutions.sh start Step 10. Update the Passwords in the Connections Update the password in the connections of the PMPC project so that the user can use the new password to log in to the database. 1. Log in to the RulePoint Console with the credentials, Administrator/Administrator1. 2. On the Design tab, click Connections, and then select the PMPC project in the navigator. 3. To update the password in the following connections, select the connection, and click Edit from the menu: rp_sql_connection rp_pmpcsql_connection 4. In the Password field in the Configurations section, update the password for the user to log in to the target database. The password that you want to update must be in clear text format. 5. Click Save. The password saves in encrypted format. Step 11. Deploy the Objects Deploy all the objects from the PMPC project before you continue working with Proactive Monitoring for PowerCenter. 1. Log in to the RulePoint Console with the credentials, Administrator/Administrator1. 2. Select the project, PMPC. 3. From the Actions menu, select Deploy > Rules, Sources & Responders. 4. Select all the objects, such as rules, template rules, sources, and responders, and click Deploy. 5

6 Step 12. Start the Node Agent Instance You must update the password in the node agent properties file and then start the node agent instance on all the PowerCenter hosts that you monitor. 1. Navigate to the nodeagent directory. 2. Navigate to nodeagent/conf and update the value of db.password in the nodeagent.properties file. 3.
