4 Executive Summary The 14 th generation PowerEdge servers with idrac9 has unique password for the root user, which is set by the factory and printed along with server s Service Tag information. License Manager enables the customers to change this default password to a user-defined password for multiple servers by using a single task. Also, the consoles such as OpenManage Essentials (OME) require common credentials while performing tasks such as firmware updates, and configuration deployment in one-to-many method on multiple targets. 5 Changing the default password of root user The 14th generation PowerEdge Servers with idrac9 are shipped with a default unique idrac password, which is randomly generated in the factory and printed along with the server s Service Tag information. By using this feature, the user can change this default password to a user-defined password for all the servers. To change the default password: 1. Start License Manager. 2. Click Action Change Server Password. 3. To change the idrac9 password, add the Service Tag and Unique Password in the System Details grid. This can be done in following ways: Type the Service Tag and unique password, and click Add. 6 Import from the CSV file comprising of the Service Tag and Unique Password. i. To get the CSV template file, click Generate CSV Template. ii. Populate the file with Service Tag and corresponding Unique Password. The Unique Password is printed on the server information tag of the server. If the password had been changed, the updated password must be entered. 7 iii. In the System Details section, click Import. iv. Select the.csv file. The Service Tag and unique password is displayed. Password is editable. If the same Service Tag is entered multiple times, the latest entry is considered. Import from the password inventory (.ompi) file that is exported from the OpenManage Mobile application. i. Click Import using OMM. ii. Select the file. iii. In the Import Password Inventory dialog box, type the decryption password. iv. Click Parse. 8 Importing Service Tag and Unique Password from the OMM file 4. Click Next. 5. Type the IP address or IP range for the discovery of the system.
