LIVE VIDEO INTERACTION AT THE CRISIS SCENE Built into a briefcase, the TANDBERG Tactical MXP arrives first at the emergency scene. First responders to the crisis location effectively relay the sights, sounds and details of the situation, transmitting live video of the scene using the remote camera and receiving life-saving instructions in return. At the emergency operations centre, one of the large room TANDBERG systems, such as the Director, 6000, or 8000, allows up to 16 crisis managers to analyze the information being sent from the first responders and provides guidance accordingly; ensuring crisis teams accumulate and disseminate information fully. If using Standard Data service the quality of the picture and voice will depend on the bandwidth available as this is a shared channel of up to 492 kbps. For high quality video conferences it is recommended to set the EXPLORER terminal to use Streaming 128 or 256 kbps and pay per minute. First step is to set the EXPLORER terminal in Modem mode by connecting a computer to the LAN interface. After getting an IP address, open your web browser and type Go to Settings > Interfaces > LAN and select Modem mode. Please refer to picture 1 on next page. Then select the Streaming 128 and 256 connections as Secondary profiles and click on the Apply button at the bottom of the web page. Accredited Solution EXPLORER Tandberg Tactical MXP Page 3/7

4 Picture 1: LAN configuration Switch the EXPLORER terminal OFF and ON again to store the new settings. Next step is to configure a filter to ensure that only video and audio data is transferred on the streaming connection. Click on Administration and logon as Administrator (default User name: admin, Password: 1234). This will give you access to the Traffic Flow Templates and filter configuration menus in the EXPLORER terminal. Please refer to picture 2. 5 Picture 2: Administration page First activate the Traffic flow templates on all Streaming connections that will be used. Remember to Apply at the bottom of the web page. Please refer to picture 3. Picture 3: Traffic flow templates Next step is to set up a Traffic flow filter 1 by typing 1 in the Eval. Prec. Index box and 17 in Protocol No. box. This will force all UDP traffic to pass through the filter 1 which refers to Streaming 128 and 256 kbps. Press Apply to store the new filter settings. 6 The filter configuration only needs to be done once. After that, the EXPLORER terminal and Tandberg Tactical MXP can be used without connecting a computer. Now connect the Tandberg Tactical MXP to the EXPLORER terminal using the same Ethernet cable. A public IP address is necessary to establish video conferencing calls through the EXPLORER terminal. If the Tandberg Tactical MXP will be connected to a LAN behind an EXPLORER terminal then a router must be connected to the EXPLORER terminal and appropriate PAT/NAT, protocols and ports must be configured in the router. The Tandberg Tactical MXP was configured to support DHCP so it automatically receives the IP address from the EXPLORER terminal as soon as the EXPLORER registers on the Inmarsat network. See the system overview below: Due to the fact that all IP traffic will add some overhead it is recommended to reserve some bandwidth for destination and source information, e.g. for a video conference on a Streaming 256 kbps connection, set the Tandberg Tactical MXP to 192 kbps. The following default call settings should be configured in the Tandberg Tactical MXP for optimal performance over BGAN: Set H.323 bandwidth to 192 kbps when Streaming with 256 kbps. Set H.323 bandwidth to 96 kbps when Streaming with 128 kbps. As long as the video conferencing system has a global IP address it is simple and easy to connect just by dialling the IP address of the other party. If the video conferencing systems are connected behind firewalls on company LANs it is more complicated to configure the systems as the IT administrator must open up for certain types of traffic and ports in the firewall. A Tandberg Border Controller will make calls through firewalls easier to configure and it will be possible to dial using E.164 aliases for the other party. 7 Once one or more Streaming Data profiles has been predefined from the EXPLORER web interface, it will be possible to select, start and stop a Streaming session using the keypad and display on the EXPLORER terminal, i.e. it will not be necessary to connect a computer. Please refer to below steps to select, start and stop Streaming sessions directly from the terminals built-in display / keypad. Step 1: Press the button to enter the menus. Step 2: Step 3: Select CONNECT from the menu by pressing the key. Press the OK key. Select the Streaming Profile you wish to start or stop by pressing the keys. The list only shows profiles that have been predefined for the LAN interface. Press OK. Step 4: Select START or STOP and confirm with OK. Step 5: Press OK to initiate the Streaming connection. Step 6: Check in the display that the Streaming connection is up. Remember that a Streaming session will remain active until you either stop it from the terminal display or the built-in web interface, or disconnect the LAN cable or switch the terminal OFF. When the Tandberg Tactical MXP receives the public IP address from the network, simply connect by dialling the IP address of the other party. Note: Tested: Tandberg has a wide range of different video conferencing systems, all built on the same platform called MXP. It is therefore most likely that all of the Tandberg video conferencing systems will work properly with the EXPLORER. Tests performed: #1 Video conference via the EXPLORER 700 on Streaming 256 kbps. #2 Video conference via the EXPLORER 700 on Streaming 128 kbps. #3 Video conference via the EXPLORER 700 on Standard data. #4 Video conference via the EXPLORER 500 on Streaming 128 kbps. #5 Video conference via the EXPLORER 500 on Standard data.
